Title: Beyonder Question.
Post by: Jugger on July 10, 2011, 11:40:19 PM
If a Teammate dies, will Beyonder still be able to use his or her special cards? or Does that character need to be alive?

Beyonder can use them so long as they are one-per-deck.  The only aspect of the game that checks the corner codes is the battlesite and the occasional any character special (i.e. wizard in top hat and tails is a duplicate of any other any character BQ, New universe counts an a duplicate to any other any character EN, ect.)

having all 3 of those in one hand
and other similiar specials

When you are looking for duplicates you only look at the code in the corner if you are instructed to do so by the card itself.  Therefore, Rhino's Rhino Hide is not a duplicate of Thing's Rock Skin, regardless of who is playing the
special(s).

Some characters have 2 cards with the same code, as long as the cards' names are different (given the code is the same), it's not a dupe. Crux's Coldforce and Heatforce is a popular exam, both are GJ specials but are not considered dupes when played in hand. They are, however, considered the same code in Cape Citadel.

If you're wondering if there are two cards with the same name for the same character (aside from the Any Heros): Acolytes has 2 Amelia Voght specials.

Was creating two different Amelia Voght's intentional or some kind of oversight?

Probably oversight.

And since they are both Amelia Voght, even though they have different effects, they count as duplicates?  I guess that's what the rules state, so seems clear enough.

So that would be the one time a single character's specials would acknowledge the code, huh?  lol
