Event-Battle on the Moon

[Nostalgic]

Last night my cousin and I played a game and he had the on the subject line in his deck. 

The event says: No universe cards may be played this battle.

Does that mean basic universe cards or all cards under the universe umbrella (training, teamwork, ally)?
We played it to me all, but I thought I'd ask for a clarification or reference from the community.

and must still be discarded as unusables
