Is there a trademark or date difference between hillshire and 'regular' issue hero?   Same question for electro... What's the dif?

The Original heroes should be dated "1995".  Hillshire heroes are "1996".  The same with Electro

Yes the powersurge 6+1e has a 1995 copywrite date and the hillshire one has a 1996 date.  The date can be seen on both the front and the back of the cards.
