Title: OP Online Help
Post by: Ranerdar on August 31, 2010, 08:10:01 PM
First let me say... Hello Everyone!

Now that that is out of the way.

My friend, ncannelora, and I have been trying to get the OP Online program to work, but we seem to be running into a problem connecting to each other. We've attempted to connect with him as the host and me as guest. Me as host, him as guest. But we both just get a "listening for opponent" and then nothing happens. We've double checked our IP addresses and made sure the correct port is open on the our firewalls.

Now I do get an error message when I open the program that states "The InstallScript engine is missing from this machine. If available please run ISScript.msi." Now when I click "ok" the program opens up. I don't know if that is what is causing us not to connect.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried setting up a server using a program called Hamachi. A friend of mine have the same problem when we try and play, it just sits on "listening for opponent". Once we set up a virtual server on Hamachi, and used the IP address Hamachi provides for you, we were able to play with no problems.

Never heard of Hamachi, but I'll check it out. Thanks.

Now, do we both need to be using Hamachi or just me?

You both will need Hamachi. Have one person create a server on Hamachi, and have the other person join it. You should now be using the same IP address (creates a LAN). Using the IP Address hamachi has you both connected to, you should be able to connect to eachother on oponline

Cool. I'm going over to his house Friday for some in-person OP. I'll see if I can get Hamachi setup on his computer then. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the help Dr. Death. We got it working. Now is there a way to reset once someone has won the game?

Nope. You pretty much have to close it down and re-start the program.

But excellent news that you've got it going! More players to the pool!

Are there certain cards that cause glitches in OPonline? I know that whenever i use Beast's Stars & Garters special card it messes everything up and usually a restart is needed. Another problem card is Onslaught's Dark Thoughts.

Do you guys have any advice on these and other cards that cause these problems?

I know that tactic: artifact cards can cause glitches if you 'play' them.  What learned you have to do is tell your opponent that you are playing the card and place it to the desired character instead.

Thanks for the information, Nostalgic. Much appreciated.  :) I have a feeling that pretty much holds true for the other cards that cause game ending glitches.

If you are hit with DoW in the online game, how do you go about attacking it with your activators? Do you just announce to your opponent that you are playing an activator and simply discard it (mentally keeping a track of how many activators have been used), followed by passing to your opponent? Is that how everyone is doing it?

I've found the best way is to discard your activator, and type the # of activators that have hit the DoW into the chat window for record.

So, for example: discard activator, type '1 on DoW' then 'end turn' (as oppose to 'pass to opponent')
