That Galactus is way cool, but I like the 24 points count much better... but I know there's a difference in the sum deck total so its ok!

been meaning to post this for a while, but finally getting to it...LOVE THIS SET!  the work put into it can really be seen in the final product..the look, the feel, everything.  Rules are fun to incorporate as well...gives a fresh outlook if you want it, but can easily transition back to traditional rules.  Keep it up PB, looking forward to the next set!!!

I'm looking forward to the discussion of decklists built under the PowerBalance deckbuilding rules. I have been busy building PowerBalance decks and would like to compare designs with others.

SnareguyUT - Awesome! Great to hear your feedback on the cards. It definitely makes me feel my efforts to benefit the community are worthwhile with these kinds of comments. I'd be most happy to continue my efforts to benefit the community, perhaps with a more unified approach in the future, by collaborating with other community members to target bigger and better projects!

CoS - Yes, I have to admit, your deck ideas are nothing short of incredible. The amount of thought you have put into the 10 decks designs is amazing - I must share them with the other community members into Power Balance. I will keep uploading them onto the Facebook page, as I playtest each one. I have received some deck designs from others as well, which I also trying to playtest now, so hopefully we could facilitate discussion on deck ideas in this forum. If you keep developing fresh ideas, let me know!

Anyone else who has created any Power Balance teams, regardless of how effective you think they are, why not post your ideas here as well? It's all a friendly community, let's share ideas, hey?  :)

Hey, I came up with a Power Balance team which my brother and I think is ok. The team idea is to have three level 7 dual characters so you can use lots of teamwork cards, so that means lots of very high level attacks all the time. There is also no intellect cards so you can use the event card that stops you using all intellect power cards. The homebase is marvel universe, with Thor 7-5-7-4 (24.0), Sentinels 7-5-7-1 (21.2), and X-Babies 5-5-4-1 (14.0) on the front line, and Banshee 7-5-3-5 (20.7) in the reserve. I use sanctum sanctorum for the battlesite because Power Balance told me someone came up with the idea of using the bargain lifeforce card on X-Babies which I like. X-Babies has all the negate cards. Sentinel is really good for his avoid power card special and his 7 intellect card. I use the artifact card to make Banshee a dual character as well, and I like Banshee's 11 energy special.

What do you think of this team?

Are you using any of the new doubleshots?  And which OPD did you use? Post a decklist so we can check out how you played it.

Kenshin - Thanks heaps for submitting your deck idea. I can tell a fair bit of thought has gone into putting the deck together. Very commendable! Just for the purposes of discussion, it would certainly be awesome if you could perhaps provide a breakdown of the cards you used in building the deck. We're all pretty easy going!

Also, the idea of the Bargain Lifeforce that I discussed with you over the e-mail was from CoS. I can't take credit for that idea!

Please feel free to post the other ideas you've run past me before too - many of them were quite creative!

So how many people are trying PowerBalance out?  What are your likes and dislikes?

I strongly dislike the limitation on Any Power powercards/Teams.  With the limitation on the use of multipowers in the mix already, when you combine that with anypower restrictions (and your new point limit) you can no longer feasibly put together a team with 3 8's in different power types and expect to get the spectrum KO from the teamwork bonuses. I dunno perhaps I am being pessimistic, but I challenge someone to put together a Any Power team that can stand against a solid Battlesite/Homebase deck using Any Power rules.

I don't think the battlesite ko makes any difference. No one attacks it anyway. I like the doubleshot cards and the multipower teamwork cards and find them very useful.

CoS - You may have a point as you've playtested the system very carefully. I personally found certain teams worked well for me. X-Man, Callisto, Thing and Reyes made a good combination since Reyes' defensive cards are quite good and she has the ability to play level 8 I teller for defense. That effectively allows you to almost have three max-8 characters on your team. Sure, you'll need a great Battlesite for negates, but the team is actually quite powerful. Combine that with the slight disadvantages many of the Homebases have now, and they stand a really good fighting chance.

However, your deck designs that you showed me really demonstrate a great knowledge of the system, so I think your point would be very valid. Do you think we should remove the restriction altogether? Would it be fair to have characters of not matching grids to be so easily used together on teams? The freedom of choice of specials together with sharing useable power cards might be too strong. Thoughts?

TheTrooper27 had spoken to me at length with many of his critiques about the system. He came up with some fairly good topic for discussion. Would you be keen on sharing your thought with us here?

Kenshin - Surprisingly, the Battlesite KO change has actually had influences on some deck designs I've received. TheTrooper was saying it would be very easy for some characters who have specials that act as a level 10 attack against a Battlesite to take out Battlesites very quickly. In fact, I think some were saying it has too big an effect, rather than the opposite. What are your thoughts on this viewpoint?

I received my cards and I think they're great!
Unfortunately I haven't played with the new rules yet, so I can't tell about them at the moment...

These were a few of my suggestions that I felt needed to be addressed regarding PowerBalance:

   a. Playing teamworks all at once.  That's a big commitment.  Under normal rules, they defend one attack at a time, so if I ko the guy, I can make my next attack on someone else.  Under PowerBalance, I have to commit to make all my attack at one target I'm wanting to ko, and that might not have been necessary if I could've seen how the defensive play was going to go.  Had they not had defensive card for my first follow up, I could've used my second follow up on another character.  I could end up being down a card in advantage.  Also, on the defensive end, if I defend with a Marvels LO (defend one * attack, draw one card from top of draw pile, discard duplicates) when will I get to draw my card?  During the defensive stage of the attack, or after all defenses have resolved?  These are sticky wickets with teamworks, and everyone LOVES teamworks, myself included.  They aren't specials, and I like that some characters are defined not by their special armament, but by their teamwork playability (Galactus in particular... all his "specials" are teamworks!).  Limiting teamwork effectiveness will not please many people.  I could adjust if the world would, but this will be a tremendously hard sell for you.

My suggestion:  Use the traditional teamwork rule, but keep the doubleshot rule of playing both attacks (if separate) at the same time, and rule that any defensive actions of those two attacks must be played at the same time.  Easy, and keeps your teamwork players happy.

   b.  Battlesite KO requirement changes.  These will not be received well.  Feel free to share with me your playtest findings and how you came to these changes.  It seems incredibly beneficial knowing that you're likely to cause 8 unusable cards over about six hands for your opponent if you can quickly take out his battlesite in one or two hands.  Decks might decide to play as few as 5 specials in their battlesite deck for fear of having so many useless activators/any heroes in their deck.  Some decks are only great because of battlesites, and DoW is hard enough on them as it is.  This will limit deck constuction to many.  HOWEVER, I think people will appreciate their efforts to ko a battlesite being rewarded with the venture bonus, and battlesite players would love a means to stick it to Devourer of Worlds.

My suggestion: This is trickier than I can solve in my intelligence, but I would start like this.  Keep the Any Heroes requirement of a battlesite (this may not stick, but it seems fair to me).   Standard 30 points, no spectrum (or possibly 20 points AND 3 icons, but you must have both... dead is dead).  Let hits count to half, rounding up, (maybe even full... some would really like that) for venture total.  Allow defense with power cards, tactics, and universe cards.  I believe negates are already usable in defending battlesites, but avoids and such specials are not.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you didnt want to change anything regarding your battlesite rules, I would suggest allowing players to remove their activators/any heroes from their draw piles if their battlesite is ko'd.  Now, I say all of this regarding battlesites without playtesting, so feel free to correct my logic where necessary, but I'm brainstorming more than playtesting right now because I have no steady opponent.

   c. The point value system.  Nuff said.  But this is an issue that many people are wanting to address in traditional OverPower, so I'm sure this can be worked out somehow.

   d. Not allowing anypower cards to be used with other homebases.  Falls Edge Compound could use the boost. :)

Everyone comment!  Share your likes and dislikes.  PowerBalance wants to know what you think, good or bad, and it's not often you get someone willing to hear criticisms along with praises.  I think he genuinely wants good things for OverPower so help him out!

I keep wanting to post my full feedback, but gain, I only have moments...

anyway, the only thing I wanted to post was that negates cannot be used to defend a Battlesite (except from the Battlesite). ultimately, the negate is still a Special. so, like JW attacks, the rule says teammate Specials cannot be used to defend Battlesites. i.e., negates are ineffective  :-\

Thanks for clearing that up, Nic.  Post your likes and dislikes.  I'd like to know what everyone thinks, and I'm sure CoS and of course PowerBalance would as well.

justa thought............
does it bother anybody but me that we cant "see" these cards???
PB: no dis intended - i'm 54 now and after 4 strokes i don't see too good, and thumb nails just don't cut it for me.  the full size picture look great when blown up, but the thumbnails look like she-ite when expanded.  sadly for you, i have no intentions of buying a set - with no one to play with physically, it would be a waste of my money (same as the Marvels set the guys worked up).  i do think the take on the game is new and novel, and has great potential.  any chance you could at least post a picture of all the cards?  or am i asking too much??
