I didn't participate in this tournament because I was judging both this and the main tournament's elimination rounds.
If I'm not mistaken, you were given a DC Starter Deck and allowed to build any deck with at least 51 cards. No restriction on characters, including duplicates.
halcyon1234 was the eventual winner.
There was a cool thing about this tournament. I remember Larry saying if you won, you got to keep your opponent's cards and rebuild each round until there was one winner. I think I saw halcyon1234 with a stack of DC singles.
Yeah, that was the situation. Winner takes all decks and ends up with all the cards or so.
I'm hoping to get a Monumental sealed deck tournament running at one of our bigger events, only 12 seats available in it though. It would be 1 deck + 3 packs and you build a deck from those cards. Possibly winner take all but we'll have to decide how to work it out. Plus obtaining all of these would be costly and might have a $20 buy in for this tournament alone based on current prices.
that's a pretty cool concept. it would be interesting to see if anyone tried to "target" a particular seed, just to get a chance to swipe particular cards...
Since there were only 6 players:
- Round 1: Winner got losers deck
- Round 2: Only 3 players. Everyone played everyone. Winner take all.
I cracked a Two-Face in my starter, got it blessed by BBH, then went on to destroy everyone with my amazing DC skills (aka: winning a coin flip by drawing my teamwork before my opponent).
For future sealed deck-take-all-- you need extra starters on hand. Whoever gets the bye should get a free starter deck, otherwise they are at an unwinnable disadvantage.
