im still thinking of mine
im sure HN is one of jack's favorites
you know what lets throw in top 10 OPD
perhaps you like the AQ 7 or 8 rather than the AS 9 10 or 11
thanks for the commentary inspiration breadmaster
ill start with
AA 52 other characters have this http://overpower.ca/wiki/AA http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=AA
a level 4 attack and maybe make another
really glad COLOSSUS got this card a good setup for haymaker or iron curtain(even if the AA is blocked iron curtain can win you a 1 vs 1 if your using marvel universe against any other location)
another is JC a level 5 attck that lets you play another special
16 caracters have this
banshee is another fave of mine
play his AA then use his AX to keep his opponent(and himself) out of action
the same tatic from above applys too)
another is AR
47 characters have this(24 have)level 7 (13 have)level 6 (10 have)level 4
preferebly the 7
both juggernaut and scorpion have this http://overpower.ca/wiki/AR http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=AR
throw hobgoblin(in reserve) and sabertooth and have a party
also think they shoulda made the level 4's AA instead
another is EJ a favorite among hawkeye players (myself included) http://overpower.ca/wiki/EJ http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=EJ
7 other characters have this special too
the 2 that can becomes an 8 if it hits of another stat(10 for any power damage)
another is ID http://overpower.ca/wiki/ID http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=ID
the other character who has this is green goblin
i think its quicksilver's best special because it lets him make 2 xtra attcks(say EI then EH or EI then BX)or a big level 12 strength attack
next is CY http://overpower.ca/wiki/CY http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=CY
dr. strange and namor(two members of the defenders) really benefit from this
namor with his AA(played first) then CY and up to 2 of his best powercard attacks
the same can be said for the metropolis s.c.u(good for any energy based team)
the other character who has this is the joker
next is DG the level 2 attack may make 2 more attacks http://overpower.ca/wiki/DG
10 characters have this special http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=DG
great card for dr. strange
follow it up with AV then CY and at least 1 powercard
number 7 is MA http://overpower.ca/wiki/MA
6 characters have this special http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=MA
the anti activator special
is also a level 5 dual icon attack which is of course a good thing as well
backlash grifter and maverick would make a pretty good team as well and still have room for a 20 pointer
number 8 is NJ http://overpower.ca/wiki/NJ
4 characters have this special http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=NJ
the anti stars and garter special
and its dual attack
still a fan of MA and NJ combo
number 9 is hf http://overpower.ca/wiki/HF
15 characters have this special http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=HF
one of my all time favorite characters nightcrawler is my favorite represenative of this code
he has a few other specials he can string off of as well
number 10 is HY http://overpower.ca/wiki/HY
6 characters have this http://overpower.ca/tools/quickspecials.php?code=HY
a pretty good level attack (6) that upon hitting forces you opponent to lose 2 cards
honorable mentions that missed
EM GJ HO JW and JZ
coming soon in a new post
my 10 OPD's
thank you
negates, draw 3s, and 12s are always good, but here's some of my faves, with a little commentary
AI: Opponent must discard 1 placed card of Ghost Rider's choice.
a little obvious, but it's a damn solid card. chews up negates, or your opponents best cards!
DG: Acts as a level 2 Energy attack. May make 2 additional attacks.
a classic chain starter
EB: Play during battle. For remainder of game, any attack made on Jean Grey's team may be moved to TK Shield. Jean Grey's team may not defend. TK Shield is discarded after 1 Hit.
love all of these; opd/non-opd (just wish they didn't nerf the character specific ones)
FR: Opponent must discard a number of cards equal to the number of Mission cards Opponent Ventured this battle. Cards may be Placed or in Hand.
this is Pym's marvels. LOVE this card (despite the fact that it seems every time I draw it, opponent gets lambs to the slaughter!)
FU: Acts as a level 6 Fighting attack. If successful, Target Character may not play Special cards for remainder of battle.
iceman's marvels. great little card (and best code in the game ;))
JW: Acts as a level 3 Strength attack. May make 1 additional Power card attack. Neither attack may be defended with a Special card.
over-exposed, but still the best defense shredder available
KI: Opponent's team may not play any cards with the word "teammate" for remainder of battle. Affected cards do not have to be discarded.
harv and I argue about psycho-man. I say his best card is the one that lets him play IW specials; he says this one. we can both agree that this is an awesome card (too bad it's unique to a dud, and he's not on a site)
NT: Acts as a level 6 Intellect attack. If successful, Opponent must discard from Hand until both players have an equal number of cards in Hand. Opponent's choice.
another great site card. can be chucked at the opponents battlesite for a tougher to defend/MUST-defend
NX: Acts as a level 7 Strength or Energy attack. If not successful, Captain Mar-Vell is -2 to attack for remainder of battle.
dual 7, non-opd, virtually meaningless penalty. SHAZAM!
Below are my top 5. These are not the best, but I have a fondness for them
OB: Acts as a level 5 Intellect attack. If successful, Wolverine may sort through Draw Pile, select and Aspect card and play it immediately. Reshuffle Draw Pile.
game changer right here. gold from a site. just the threat of wolvie/longshot on your team/site completely alters the way the opponent must play at the end of rounds
DY: This Special acts identical to any Special currently on the table.
the morph one, not those cheap knock-offs. so damn versatile!
FI: Acts as a level 3 Intellect attack. If successful, Havok may immediately draw 2 cards from top of Draw Pile. Discard if duplicate.
same as the wolverine OB; murder from a site, and unique to havok
HH: Hawkeye may have an unlimited number of Special cards Placed on him until Hawkeye is KO'd. Specials may not be duplicates
works great with beyonder; either from stark enterprises site, or hawkeye in reserve (both fantastic choices). helped me win a tourney, so i'm biased
HB: Sort through opponent's Power Pack and remove any 3 cards of Puppet Master's choice. Discard chosen cards into Dead Pile. Reshuffle Power Pack.
same as above.
I enjoyed the commentary, breadmaster.:)
Lets see... I'll do my top 5:
HY - Acts as a level 6 energy attack. If successful, opponent must discard 2 cards, placed or in hand.
A must block. If it lands, you just about win the battle... just about.
OC - opponent must discard 3 cards from hand, chosen by opponent. OPD
I like this one better than draw 3... I guess because it always gets you three. I always wanted Hulk to have this card. But Colossus is good enough.:)
GJ - acts as level 4 ESF or I attack. May make one additional attack.
These are just awesome. Chains are way cool, and while there are better chain cards, the spectrum ability of this one is just sweet. I really wanna use Post in a deck.
BS - For remainder of battle, if Domino can block a power card attack with an equal value power card, Domino's power card hits attacker.OPD
I always thought this card was cool, but when I found out you could play it defensively, it got even cooler.:)
NN - For remainder of battle, any special card played must be a special that acts as an attack. Other specials may not be played.
I'm still learning to use this awesome card. I like Hulk much better with it. Hulk having poor special cards is more depressing than that sad Lonely Man Theme at the end of the tv show.:(
Okay, one more...
FD - Only Wolverine and target character may attack, defend or play specials this battle. Neither player may concede.
The Wolvie version is where it's at. SNIKT!!!
Worst code ever???
HJ - Hulk may switch any two cards with an intellect icon on the permanent record of any two front line heroes on his team.OPD
Dumbest card ever made. I've never even heard of a hypothetical example of this card being useful. AND... it's a one per deck. I wonder how much playtesting that card got. For crying out loud, it's his ONLY IQ special... and he didn't have much to work with anyway! Someone was out to get Hulk, I mean it.
sing it brother! wtf were they thinking with gamma transfusion. you asked for a hypothetical, so here's one
take the equally offensive MN. (grifter's nerves of steel) Acts as a level 12 Intellect attack. May only be played if Grifter has Hits totaling 15 or more in his Permanent Record.
the MN is virtually unplayable. how often do characters wind up with 15+ in hits, but not ko'd (it DOES happen occasionally). knowing grifter has this card, it's quite unlikely though. so I use the HJ to get grifter above 15, and BAM! of course, grifter also has a pure tm avoid, so chances are the opponent will be targeting him from the get-go, leaving no hits to switch with the HJ. so then I have to place it, or discard it as unusable
okay...maybe not so useful after all ;)
just let the teamwork cards pile on him, then boom!
interesting take. I always assumed the HJ meant you had to switch one hit on one character for another hit on another character. could you in fact switch 2 hits (with intellect icons) on one character over to a second character that's clean?
not that this makes the card any less useless ;)
It wouldn't make it good... but I would build a team with Grifter and Hulk just to play Gamma Transfusion and Nerves of Steel. You might not win much, but when you actually pulled that combo off without someone knowing it was part of your strategy, they would be blown away!!! I'm blown away! :P
top 5 fav's
BJ - Charm - took me FOREVER to get this card back in the Original days!
FD - Standoff - simply a winning card that totally demoralizes your opponent along the way.
AK - Charge Object - back in the day, I'd use this to land 12 and 13 point attacks - before I realized Universe cards don't count for KO or Venture :'(
OE - Gathering Winds - I had a game I'll never forget. Going FTW, very late stages, I got this and the BQ in the same hand! pulled a 7-7-6-6-6 in that hand!
IG - Viking Pyre - not only is it such an opportunistic, high risk/high reward card, but when I read the Mutant Massacre for the first time, I'll never look at that card the same way again!
Never read Mutant Massacre... I always wondered how Thor fit in the story... what happened???

it's a good story and it's in TPB, I think. I don't really want to spoil it for those who haven't read it yet... let's just say that Thor plays an integral (and surprising) part in the story!
