Hi all,

Friday and Saturday, May 16-17 will be the next Peace Bridge Tournament in Buffalo, NY.

Let me know of ideas for the Friday night Can/Am format - should we keep it or not? What type of tourney? The first time was a Max 6. Do we go a Femme Fatale (female characters only) or Max 7? Any Heroes only, or Battlesite only? I put up a poll for 30 days to see what you think. If you have another idea, let me know.

How about a 'You're on your own' theme - No Battlesites, No Anyheroes. Teams must work entirely on their own merit.

I want to see a tournament where characters that don't get much play get used.  Like:

Absorbing man
Aqua man
Azreal
Backlash
Bane
Banshee
Black Widow
Captain Atom
Etc.

Or maybe even a tournament where only characters from specific sets can be used. like say, Image and X-men, the last two sets, only characters from those sets can be used.

I've always thought a DC vs. Image event might be fun.

Players must choose one side or the other - and exclusively use cards from their respective set. , no Marvel allowed.

I've always wanted to build a deck w/ 4 front line characters and no reserve at all. 

Those are some very creative ideas for decks.

As for the question on Ally and TWs being used with Battlesite...yes.

I really like that idea.  I think we'd see a lot of characters that are rarely used.

Dc Vs Image is kinda interesting...DC has more cards to choose from but image had access to home bases and battlesites.

DC vs Image sounds interesting.

DC has more powerful cards, Image has better team cohesion.

I think it would boil down to a DC team dying to teamworks vs an Image team getting blown out by draw 3/4's.

Any Heroes obviously makes DC far better than it does Image.  I could see Image being forced to run battlesites simply so Leech doesn't wreck them.

i think the DC Vs image means that only cards from those sets can be used, so leech or DOW to worry about.

Stickying the topic. The date is set, just need to confirm a location.

Two things.

1. The Friday night get together will be an all DC event only with a twist. The twist is that you can use DC3 cards that are available from the Overpower Legion. You can follow this link: https://www.facebook.com/overpower.us?fref=ts

2. The event will be held at:

Seneca Gospel Mission
462 Elk St.
Buffalo, NY

Times will be finalized later. Start time 5 PM Friday night. End around 10. Start time 9 am and end around 10. Note: there will be breaks for lunch and dinner. I propose ordering in pizza and wings for lunch and tacos for dinner.

I am looking into a close by hotel for a group rate. Unfortunately, this is a graduation weekend in Buffalo so the hotels would not do a group rate.

for the peace bridge tourny, i would like to see DC vs Image, or just DC. this may make deck building a challenge, adhere to hero/villein code on cards and only DC cards can be used.

I think the question got mixed up - but no, you can not follow an ally with an activator (or any hero). Allies must be followed by character specific special cards.

No proxies at the DC3 Can/Am tourney on Friday night. All the cards are readily available. I will have DC/JLA/D3 cards available on Friday before the tourney as well.

As of right now, the DC Code Rule will apply. That means if you are a H deck you must not use any V code cards (that includes the Battlesite).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

So on the DC decks, you must either choose to play all H's or all V's? My question I suppose is: If I'm running a deck that has a mixture of H and V code character's, that means on the battle site I must use a V coded activator with a V coded character and vise versa?

This set was never released and should allow proxies.  Please confirm this ASAP.

Can you also confirm a list of cards (non-Character and non-Special) that are included in this DC3 play test? Currently, for the "Stryker's Island" location, I can't find any information about Tactic: Artifact cards.

Indeed, I figured my atrocious luck during the last tournament into the equation.  I remember well having 8 discards after two hands in the first match, and having to discard DoW 2nd hand in the next.

The Hero Villain code means that characters can only use specials or Universe cards with a corresponding code.

So heroes (H code) can not use any card coded with a 'V' and Vice versa.

Cards that are not coded can be used by either.

The wrinkle comes with Battlesites, which don't normally exist in DC Overpower. Since the code is being applied, if you're using a Battlesite you have to make sure to pay attention to your team. You can mix and match your team with Heroes and villains, but you won't be able to use Hero coded cards from a site for the Villain on your team, and vice versa.

I think that's a mistake, though. Thorn is supposed to be a hero.

another idea for a tournament archetype... a 3 stat tournament.

rules? nothing major. just any character from the first 3 sets of overpower is legal plus promos (Doppleganger, Adam Warlock and Galactus) play the game like usual... but im thinking for a homebase it is useable if all characters have 3 stats, and for battlesites i would say let anything go, but if you want to restrict battlesites you can just ban the ones that don't all have a 3 stat character involved, or just make battlesite specials only useable with characters that have a 3 stat equivalent.

ok so under the banning of battlesites this would not make it into play because the Acolytes is listed on this base, but if playing under alternate restrictions you could just use battlesite specials from all the other 5 since they have a 3 stat version.

but if you wanted also you could just focus on having all 4 of your characters 3 stat and whatever the battlesite is... all activator characters are legal.

Thorn will be treated as a H code for the Peace Bridge tourney.

Also, a follow up on Battlesites. I am thinking that if you use a DC3 location card that has all heroes, then your Battlesite must not contain villain activators.  Thoughts?

If you are using a mixture of heroes and villains then when you play from your Battlesite the special must be played by a character with the same code. If you are using Batman and Luthor on a team and have a Battlesite of Heroes, than only Batman can play it.

This will be my first tourney (assuming I get Saturday off) and was wondering about deck edits.  Once the tourney starts are you allowed to modify deck between rounds.  For example if I have fury and jammers on my deck can I put in appropriate LS special based on if opponent has battlesite / or take out the unusable?  Or adjust power pack between rounds?    14 days to go!

Speaking for the Toronto Tournaments: no adjustments are allowed.

Once tournaments start you can't change your deck.

Thanks for the catch. Protocols is currently a $75 card. I will give $37.50 in cash or trade for 1. (Even though it is on eBay for higher - I did that to get the price down to where it belongs).

Tomorrow is the Peace Bridge 2 DC3 Tourney. I have printed some high gloss versions of the Star Sapphire Any Power 6 and they will be given to all players in the DC3 tourney. The WILL be tourney legal!

I am excited about the tourney this weekend. It will be great to see the K2 players and any newcomers. If you did not do "I am attending" on fb, please respond here that you are coming.

I have some different things planned for Friday night. For each win you will receive an OP pack. You can open the pack and if you have a card on the prize list you can trade it for an unopened pack of IQ, Image, PS, or MN. The list of cards and what you can trade it for will be posted at the tourney.

Also, Friday night will be the second annual Can/Am tourney as part of the DC matches. All games played American vs. Canadian will count. The losing country has to sing the others National Anthem.

Saturday prizes will be determined based on attendee count. The top prize has been confirmed as a Classic Insert Deal with the Devil.

The Saturday tourney will be the first of the restarted OP ranking system.

How'd the "play test " of DC3 on Friday go?  Was any input / consensus reached about making them tournament legal?

The cards were fun to play with.

We discussed Larry possibly using a DC event as his annual Friday night event, so that we would all get to play with the cards.

I do not believe there is any plans to add new cards to the current main event format.  All cards legal in the main event were tested 15 plus years ago. 
As of now there is still a wide variety of deck options to be explored in the current format.  If at some point in the future the format becomes stale and people
are all playing the same decks, then this will be revisited.

Phil K (5-0) defeats Garion (2-3) to clinch for the US.

The Canadians did a great job in singing the US National Anthem. Their rallying cry at the end was "wait to next year!!!".

This tourney was a lot of fun. The DC3 cards were great. Feedback was unanimous to keep the DC format at the Peace Bridge tourney next year. A big thanks to Michael Carbonara who produced the DC3 cards.

One more update item: the winner pack open/trade option. What is that you ask?

Starting on Friday night each winner of a match got an unopened pack of Original OP.  If you pulled a card on the list below you got, in trade, the unopened pack listed for that card.
