Title: Card Combo's
Post by: Tussin on December 08, 2013, 09:32:14 PM
ok official thread for the deadly, the intelligent, the uncanny combinations that are ripe for abuse. keep it 2 to 3 cards per combo, can be battlesite, homebase, event, whatever tips to help people in their deck building ideosphere.

for themed decks ill start it off with this.

have any of these ready while you run Fatal Attractions mission/events
(http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/1219.png)(http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/71.png)

opponent has to wait, you draw 1 from event plus 3 more. great draw power and setup worthwhile strategies that will setup a win

and to negate opponent's best laid plans draw you can use the following.

yeah that is very deadly, if they dont block lots of that... it can kill you with cumulative or spectrum :)

ok this is a solid combo... the best of both worlds, can work with anyone of course. but the best with the following.

make them nearly godlike status and cover your weaknesses. so this turns some into powerhouses.

you could run Baron Mordo as battlesite, or run him in the deck and have like 3-4 copies of this to boost your team then use a site that can search for specials (DS) Banshee/Ghost Rider/Inhumans/Thor and allow that special to be played by teammates to boost themself up. find something that allows some duplicates too

BROOD                                                        8-6-6-8 (19) (30 hits to ko with opd, 23 even with debuff in effect)
DEADPOOL                                                  8-7-5-8 (18) (30 hits to ko with opd, 23 even with debuff in effect)
ROGUE: BROTHERHOOD OF EVIL MUTANTS  8-5-3-8 (16) ~ May not be Cumulative KO'd with Special cards. ~
X-BABIES                                                     8-5-4-8 (15) ~ May not be Spectrum or Cumulative KO'd with Power cards ~
MORBIUS                                                     8-3-6-8 (19) ~ May only be Cumulative KO'd by 30 or more points. ~
SABRA                                                          8-7-6-8 (19) (cannot be cumulative ko'd with special)
VISION                                                        8-4-6-8 (21)  (cannot be cumulative ko'd with special)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Budget Baby Galactus... 7-7-7-7 (19) 4 less teamwork options, for 5 less points but special access is a bonus too.

(http://overpower.ca/cards/characters/102.png) and you need to use the Hellicarrier as a battlesite

(http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/1466.png) Avenger's Mansion as battlesite and this as OPD.
(http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/1199.png) if you do it right you could become immune to power cards, a powerful lock.

I've used Fatal Attractions' Best Laid Plans with a team that had Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic. I could either draw 3 of my 4 selected cards, plus you have Iron Man's LO Special from The Marvels, and I used (a Proxy of) Deal With The Devil in my Any Hero pool. That pulled some fun results on occasion.

Also, I'm a big fan of the combination of Storm's OE and a BQ Special. I had that combo once and got the effect of 5 level 7E Power cards and 2 6E in a single hand! (It was FTW, so my opponent just had to watch it all go down).

(by the way, those MB and Techno-Virus have obvioius lethality - if only that 6A attack was tougher to block... a GA or BD would be useful...

WYNONNA EARP 2-7-3-6 (18)
TIFFANY 6-6-4-4 (20)  Fighting Rating 8 for Defense
(http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/1423.png)

if you ran these 2 in a deck together it would counter opponents draw advantages and you could manipulate with event cards. Infestation Incident seems like the best choice. if you also ran something that allowed duplicates could greatly help card count.

I don't think they would get to draw extra cards when the event is played as they say "during battle" when can an event is played the battle hasn't started yet.

I built that tecno virus deck with black king and overtkill (since they both use the 2s power cards with the 6a specials)

in around 20 games, the combo has worked once.  it was pretty sweet when it did, but it's not worth building a deck around

on the plus side, the deck did much better than one would suspect!

The KD Specials only work with actual Power cards, not Specials that "act as" Power cards (otherwise, EJ would become INSANE with the right KD)

good to know, but yeah, i built a deck theming that if that was legal. :)

expanding on the Apocalypse combo this may also work.

also is this legal or would this miss the timing like the other combo i thought?

(http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/1423.png) (http://overpower.ca/cards/aspect/12.png)

creates a +1 everytime, and each deck should have 10-12 activators?

Great catch! One of these days ill use trickster in a deck. I ew as going through my jla folder yesterday and noticed this card.  I was just thinking about how to get it to hit for sure, then it hit me. If you only have the attack in your hand itll hit for sure.

even in the worst case scenario... say you have a hand loaded with attacks but they get the one that isn't, the card goes into the power pack which can be recycled for later use into deck when you run out of cards

could utilize any 2 of these 3 for your frontline to force all attacks to one of the above.

No photos, but a combo that I hit recently that I found some success with was White Queen (AA + JW + 7E) - if you launch it with a battlesite AA it's 18 points, but at 4.5 PPC it leaves you exposed...it could be nice following a big draw or if you can get 2 KO's from it.

The best combo ever landed was 7+3 Basic universe attack for 10 that landed over a 'Avoid 9 or Less' wall deck to kill Spawn. Then Web Headed Wizard was played the next battle, and it used to same combo to kill Spider-Woman.

It's so great, because nobody would of ever predicted someone built a deck with a basic universe in it.

to get the most out of your AE combine specials on your team. if someone is a max 6 or 7, get the artifact on them to get the access to the level 8 power card, then blast your 12 combine double suit to destroy opponent. works best with offsuited combines imho.

so for example... Shadowcat would shine in an Intellect deck... Blob in a usual Strength deck.

the guys that can use the most help with this artifact as well are people with the combines but with a low 1 2 or 3 stat for a combine making it rather useless to run in your deck at all. this gives everyone the boost they need.

Or toss the storm card from a battlesite. She's a fantastic battlesite character.

What about this combo with a Wakanda battlesite.

Hawkeye - Arrow Assault into Crux - Coldforce into Crux - Heatforce into Storm - Xmen Leader.

So u get Four Miltipower-4 attacks in one turn. if any 3 of them hit its a KO.

Or also with the Wakanda battlsite...

Hawkeye - Triple shot into:
Chain 1: - Crux - Heatforce into Crux - Coldforce into Storm - Xmen Leader
Chain 2: Anything as long as it starts with a fighting attack.

Or if you were using a Beyonder deck w/ Crux and Storm there is always the Age of Apocalypse battlesite where you could:

Morph - Amazing Xman into:
Chain 1: Crux - Heatforce into Crux - Coldforce into Storm - Xmen Leader (once again 4 attacks, if any 3 hit its KO. BUT... thats only the first chain)
Chain 2: X-man - Apocalyptic Survival into Beast - Beastial brawn into Shadowcat - Pryde and Wison w/ a 6I power card

Of course that scenario uses your entire hand on one turn... but could do some serious damage to your opponent if they are lacking defense that battle. Its got 2F, 4E/S, 4F/I, 4 S/I, 4M, 4S, 4E+6I attacks all in one turn. You would have to draw a perfect hand for this however. But you can always dream.

But like I said before in this thread earlier, during the end of Ovpowerpower, in the last official sanctioned tournaments when 'The Marvels' cards werent allowed in tournaments (I dont even think the Marvels checklist was even out a this point), the most popular style of decks at the time were the "9 or less wall decks" usually with spawn and spider-woman in reserve. So obviously a 10 attack was almost impossible to block in those decks, unless you could negate it. since these wall decks mostly used any heroes since they were confident in their  9 or less defense capabilities. The most devastating combo ever played against me was when batman killed my spawn with a a 7F power card mixed with a 7+3 basic universe (absolutely unheard of at the time because nobody used basic universe cards in there deck back then, so I never expected it.).  And then in the next round my opponent actually used a web headed wizard to get back his basic universe and threw out another 10 attack to kill my H4H, and you cant negate basic universes, so there was no way to block it. It was the most embarrassing moment of my overpower career for sure. Except maybee for the Norcal Regionals one year when i got greedy and made a huge miss-play and lost in top-8 when i had the game all but locked up. I wont go into specifics on how that happened, but it was the worst play of my career, i got greedy and lost.  I think if i played it smart, and played for the long haul instead of trying to get the win so quick during battle 3, I would of been a real strong position to win that regional. But i got greedy and wanted to win the game quick in round 3, but i should of played more for the long haul on that one, instead of trying to end the game so quick. Still haunts me to this day... that was the best chance i had to win a Major Tournament and I blew it by using my Reavers - Deathstrike on the wrong card. Technically it could of been the right play. My opponent had 40 cards left in his deck, and the only way he could beat me was by drawing that one card he needed in the next battle, and he surely did end up drawing it. The odds were strongly in my favor he wouldnt get it, but somtimes you just get unlucky. Ill never forgive myself for that.

So what do you think about these card combo's i mentioned in this post?

I've come across several threads that say "chain attacks can't fork"   If an FE special is played teammates can play ONE special and FORFEIT any additional attacks despite card text.  That's what makes Beyonder useful (devastating?).  since ONE character is playing ALL attacks (after ALLY or A-Next ) he avoids the F**king issue... "forking issue".  what did you think I meant?  :P

just came across this combo... is this legit? for this special i read they are KO'ed at the end, so it should trigger my draw 2 cards for new warriors? add in Bishop and New Lease on Life to recycle this +2 draw engine?

The character is discarded not KO'd at the end of the battle. Plus, why would you want to draw 2 cards right when a battle ends anyway?

@drdeath25 does this apply or no? CK

Meta #96: Characters resurrected via a Special are automatically K.O.'d after the end of the battle. Therefore, if such a resurrected Character is the last Character standing and that Character manages to K.O. the opposing team or complete the team's Mission then that player is the winner.

Rogue can negate their offense/defense from a type, GA can shut down their special defense/offense as well. great shutdown for wanting to finish an opponent off.

possibly an even better lock... can't attack, can't defend, can't special :)

first combo is if you want to send hits to reserve, then use hawkeyes special to negate all those hits, second combo is to do the same thing on front row and hawkeye in reserve to swap and stay alive.

can also be combo'ed with someone that has LG special. also getting an idea to throw in Ripclaw into this for synergy.

Silver Samurai has the same effect built in as Phoenix but stats match better with Hawkeye.

the trickster / grifter combo:  If grifter was already KO'd.  if his 12 shows up in same hand has Trickster's opd, does that mean you can KEEP grifter card AS usable since having in your hand and YOU don't play it, it doesn't qualify as a discard?   here's reaching....

So can Linkstone be activated to use an opponent's Draw 3 cards? i'm thinking no....

Im pretty sure with Linkstone you can only activate it to play a special card on YOUR frontline, not your opponents. Or else i am seriously wondering why I never put that card in every deck i've made since image was released.

yeah... just saying... like... if my teammate on the frontline has a big boy card like a 9, 10 or 11, with the 3 characters above... they get a +1 bonus to attack due to their innate. which does help jump over wall defense cards.

harder to ko with that type and removes venture, it makes the opponent not want to attack said target at all. :)

use linkstone to combo the special from teammate, or via battlesite
