Title: Image Booster Box
Post by: TheBradness on January 23, 2014, 08:21:12 AM
Funny enough, about two days ago I was talking to a buddy about Image booster packs and how rare they must be, as they never turn up.  I can't believe that I actually thought about pulling the trigger on this:

wow! crazy...i'm glad I only had to pay like 100 bucks for my image box and I was able to get a starter box for like 30 dollars :D  This was like 10 years ago though...

I still haven't been able to complete my image set though :(

We will be willing to sell to both Canadians and Americans.

If you want a sealed box, and you are from the states, Marcel is your best bet as far as I know.

SILENCE...

(BACK STORY)

"As I was walking through the streets of TOKYO late one night, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a small Gaming and Card store.  Something drew me inside.  Upon entering I noticed former OP NATIONALS Champion Duncan Yuen, behind the counter.  Knowing Duncan from many years ago in Toronto, I was surprised (to say the least).  We spoke about the Golden Age of OP and how we missed the high level of competition that use to be around.  He explained he had moved to JAPAN to play against the best Gamers and collected and played OP in Japan all the time, on the underground circuit (Apparently there is a underground circuit of card gaming for money, from what he explained).  He then showed me a RARE Un-opened box of IMAGE BOOSTER PACKS, he explained there was a twist.  I was intrigued and listened, he explained this was the fabled BOX to contain the complete pack of MULTI 5's.  I did not believe him, but he assured me.  I felt there was a draw to this store for a reason, so I negotiated a deal and smuggled the box to CANADA.  The land of the Free."*

Now a unique offer is presented to the Overpower Community.

A chance to own this Fabled Box.

Please feel free to Purchase through EBAY and get all of the Guarantee's that accompany it.  However, for the OP community, I will offer the box at $700.  Please message me for details.

There is shipping for Canadians as listed in the posting, as well as Americans.  A GOD always loves all.

If you wish I will sign the BOX as well before shipping (FREE of charge, my gift to you).

You have been graced with my presence, I hope you have enjoyed.

M

~ OP GOD

(What could I offer next?  Maybe a sealed Box of X-MEN?  Coming Soon...)

(* The Back Story may or may not contain the Names of Real People and/or Places, it was created for mere entertainment and is in no way to be considered fact or is it?)

do image boosters really fetch $20/pack?

that's insane!
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: TheBradness on January 24, 2014, 09:19:14 PM
That's a easier to stomach than dropping $700 on the entire box!
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: BlueFire on January 24, 2014, 10:18:25 PM
The last sealed box of image that sold on eBay was around 550.

That was also the only one in the last 2 years.

A store that ran tournaments I played in back in the day ordered 6 CASES and got only 2 BOXES.

So yes, they were and are extremely rare.
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: TheBradness on January 25, 2014, 12:22:38 PM
It seems like it's either the entire booster box or nothing.  I cant remember the last time I saw single booster packs anywhere.

Now there's an X-men box up for sale:

I don't think 350 is a bad price actually....
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: teesaw on February 14, 2014, 03:47:50 PM
If you have cash to blow, it's definitely not a bad price, considering what you're (practically) guaranteed to get.  If I had a few friends to chip in, I'd definitely pick it up.

Title: Re: Image Booster Box

And now the X-men box has been purchased...
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: rucker73 on February 18, 2014, 02:11:20 PM
So sometime tomorrow I should have the Image box in my hands....  do I open what may be one of the last remaining sealed boxes?  I have many needs in my Image collection and the box will most likely not fill them.

But on the other hand this is an item that will likely never gain much in value, sure it is valued now that all of us who played this game in our youth are now adults who can afford to indulge in some nostalgia but almost no one will be looking for this in another 20 years....   or I could be wrong.

There's nothing like cracking open a pack of Overpower cards....  what to do?  what to do?

Any suggestions from all of you?
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: teesaw on February 18, 2014, 03:47:11 PM
My suggestion: $1 raffles for sealed packs.
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: BlueFire on February 18, 2014, 04:34:30 PM
I have both sealed image packs and a lot of image singles.  If you wanted to try and work out a trade, you may be able to get the best of both worlds.  I can tell you that you are almost certainly correct in that opening the box will not fill out your want list if it has more than a couple very rares on it.

Feel free to pm me or post right on here.
Title: Re: Image Booster Box
Post by: TheBradness on February 18, 2014, 08:52:00 PM
I've been in the same position and I've traded sealed packs (where I don't know what's in them) for single rare cards, as I know I'm getting a for-sure thing and giving up an unknown.

If you like the mystique of the sealed box, that's awesome, but you are right about its value.  If I'm in your shoes, I'm trading unknowns for knowns, if that makes sense.  Still, ultra-jealous that you got your hands on it.

I just wanted to put this out there:  If you need someone to take some of the booster packs off of your hands, I'm willing (albeit begrudgingly) to trade you some Level 1 Fighting or Strength Power Cards from the Original OP set for them.

I know, I know, I'm OBVIOUSLY making a sacrifice here, but you know what?  Sometimes you have to be the bigger man, right?  :P

When was the last time anyone saw a complete Image set up for sale?  And if so how much was it going for?  Ideally I would love to keep the box sealed but my priority is to complete my collection.

I guess this also goes out there that I am looking to purchase a complete Image set if anyone has one for sale at a reasonable rate.

Rucker73 I do have a set of image.  Please PM me a price you would consider reasonable.

Also, if you already have some of the set and wanted to work the box into a trade to complete it and/or other sets or sealed product, let me know what you need or are interested in.  I also have X-Men, IQ, Monumental sealed etc...

I would like to keep it sealed for the history of the game.

Thats proper pricing for the X-men Box.

Where's the Classic Boxes in all of this!!

But if I never open the box I will never find out if there truly is a pack with all Multi 5's :P :o

As of now it looks like I open it tonight and I will provide a full report on the contents in the next day or two.

Hopefully the Overpower God's will be smiling on me. ;)

Here is the video of Jack and company opening an image box.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MN27P5cufE

It was actually 58 packs, well over a box.

Notable pulls are Malebolgia, 6A+2 Basic, Myrlu Symbiote, Witchblade (Artifact), Velocity's Quick Thinking, Wynonna Earp's Shootout, a few events. No 5M, no 8A, pretty sad for 58 packs as Jack said.

i feel better about my image box, it had two Witchblade's the chosen, 8A, grifter's 12, 6A+2, Quick thinking, all the events, 2 anyheroes...i did find it funny that i didn't get a Shadowhawk...which is uncommon..lol.

Another seller with a $500 X-men box...damn..

Post by: TheBradness on April 07, 2014, 03:31:03 PM
Well, I don't know if I'm selling it for DIRT cheap, but it's certainly priced to sell.  And why not?  It's not a load-bearing box that is holding up my closet.  I can't have intimate relations with it (Lord knows I've tried, cuz an unopened Image box IS pretty sexy), and girls just aren't impressed by a man with multiple complete Image sets.

I came into a couple of them, and rather than just sit on them (figuratively, of course.  Believe it or not, they aren't actually that comfortable), I'd would rather sell them and put them back out in the OP community.  I'm sure that I could sell it at a price that is somewhat higher than what I have it listed at, but I got them at a discounted price, so I'd like to offer them out to others at a discount too.  My part in keeping Overpower alive!

All I asked for those that I sold Individual Packs to was for them to let me know what Rares they came across (I like to know what was in the packs).  For those that buy a box and wanna sell off anything, gimme first crack at whatever they want to sell.  Seems fair in my mind :-P

I just opened my last image booster box and it was total sh!T no good cards at all. I have a feeling that the box was resealed because when I took of the cellophane wrapping the cards jumped around in the packs and the packs also smelled like super glue. Boy I am really pissed off.

I can't trace the box at all because I bought it at a comic con.

I hate feeling the gut feeling off rip off crap!

I hope the guy who sold me this box reads this as I call him a big fat loser liar and a cheat. Yeah that's right. you bastard!

@NinjaGaiden2: why are you posting on multiple threads about this seller? He's done you no wrong (or has he?). He's got perfect feedback and shows the sealed packs of Image.

If you want to call out potential scammers, start your own thread somewhere (and give reasons why instead off calling them names without any reason!).

and even in the event of any scam, i have heard ebay protects buyers very well, even when sellers don't list and deliver on what they promised in the bid, even if they failed to accurately list the details.

I am just trying to save you all from making a big mistake I'm aware that he is a fake and feed back may be modified. Ebay deletes negative feed back from sellers if they have a online store and pay for it. Some helfpull tips so you all know accounts may be purchased on ebay with 100% feed back. There are programs that work with ebay that you may download the delete negative feed back and add hundreds or thousands of positives if you pay for it. I'm just saying don't be naive. I won't post anything else since you think he's good.

Don't say I didn't warn you.
Title: Re: Image Booster Box

eBay has excellent buyer protection, you said so yourself in another thread. I'm just trying to make sense of your comments; in one thread you refuse to deal with someone on the boards directly and praise eBay as the only place to make a safe purchase, while in this thread you advise of some grand conspiracy in which store fronts can bribe eBay to remove feedback, and accounts with trumped up feedback are bought and sold on a daily basis.

I run a store on eBay, I've sold product for almost 15 years and believe me when I tell you that it's not as easy as paying eBay to remove negative feedback. The very few negative feedbacks I've received in my time on eBay were over ticky-tack things and always involved small purchases (under $25) and I have two on there now that eBay will not remove, even though I followed protocol and the buyer had their account for two months and likely created that account after being kicked off eBay in the past. Buyers on eBay have great power, I've had to primarily stick to selling higher end product because I was tired of wasting time and money dealing with the clowns that were giving me headaches over a $10 CD or whatever.

As for the current seller, I think his problem is poor presentation, which is often the root of failure on eBay. He likely acquired those cards as he indicated, via estate sale, which could mean a number of things. My guess is he bought the contents of a small store or a private collection that just happened to include some OverPower product. Personally I would not pay $550.00 for a box that is clearly not sealed and for packs of a product that the seller has little to no knowledge of, but that's just me. I don't think that makes the guy a fraud, but I do think you just have to be cautious, ask questions and trust the eBay process as a buyer, because it's invariably in your favor.
