Title: Anyone every try this team build?
Post by: Kyoujin on March 07, 2014, 11:14:33 AM
Just thought of this one, wanting some feedback:

Sabra
Heroes for Hire
Beast: The Brute
Sabretooth (R)

Team avoid, negates, Reserve avoid, double 8s, big crunchy hits, etc.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this before and what were the results.  I believe it's just legal at 76 points.

Thanks!

I like it! but I would throw in another 8 strength character (thing or hulk) in reserve.  sabretooth's reserve avoid is only for intellect attacks which makes it only useful 25% of the time.  And due to the fact that most decks are energy, fighting and strength, that drops that % to roughly 15%

Oh ya, I made something similar for my friend.  Reavers, H4H, Brute and thing in Reserve.  And the old team use to be H4H, Brute, Super Patriot, thing

I thought the Sabretooth avoid was for fighting attacks?  And even then it would be useful for more than just 25% of attacks as it would also block attacks from Activators and any Multi's that were not declared.

As for the deck, I have never really used Sabra, but it looks like it would be fun to use.

Ya, you're right, it is fighting...but it's not fighting Icon...so it can't target activators :(

Sabretooth is Fighting. Note that it only doesn't directly block Activators, only those which are attacks that are Fighting (or can become Fighting). Only AD specials that block icons can directly avoid any Activator based attack.

Sabretooth is there for the grid, really.  He's another 8 on the team, and he has the situational avoid.  I was thinking maybe Wonder Woman or another 8 fighting, instead.

this reminds me of a team I made with Sabretooth in Reserve. one 8 FPC, 7S AR and 8 FTW.  When he came out of reserve, he was MAD...lol

Reavers - negates, AR
Daredevil - Teammate avoids
Elektra - Confusion and 7 attacks

That's interesting.  So, could Sab's AD block Sabra's HR (or something similar) or are you referring to something like a GD?

They can block anything that becomes Fighting, so if the opponent doesn't declare it within a reasonable time, you can declare it for them to your advantage.

If the opponent attacks with Sabra's HR and doesn't declare it Energy, you can call it Fighting for them. If they call it Energy, then it's an Energy attack.

For Specials, it's fair to use whatever works to your advantage. For Multipower Power cards, if they use, say, a 4M from Professor X (8-2-1-7), he couldn't actually declare it Fighting anyway so you can't choose Fighting.
