Title: Hello!
Post by: Philip on August 16, 2014, 09:33:30 AM
So I have no idea what to write...

I just wanted to say hi to everyone, my name is Philip (who would have thought, right? :P ) and I am from Greece

My OP story?

Well I was almost 7 years old when the first set came out. I was/am a huge superhero fan. Around that age I started taking English lessons and so I was trying to read English comic books. When I saw the OP cards I was like "mom can I get some?". Problem was that I never picked up a starter pack...so no rules for me :P. I managed to almost have a full set, I was missing 10 or so cards. Sadly the second set never saw the light of day here in Greece.

As the years went by I started playing other tcgs (Pokémon, yugi, Magic the Gathering among other games) and I ended up working in one of the hobby stores.

At some point when the Vs game died ( I think it was around that time but I could be mistaken) I started sorting through my tcgs to arrange them, sort them and catalogue what I have. That is when I came across my old OP cards. So I went online to check what happened to this game. I found the rules and the sets that came after the original and I realized that there was no way of making a deck with the cards I had. (not to mention that my fav Marvel Character was included in the Powersurge set and I dint have him/her... I dare you to guess who it is XD). I went online (ebay) and found Larry aka the Orange King. Little did he know back then what a pain in the ass I d be :P I bought several character sets mostly of the characters I love but that was it. I never found anyone to play with and so I stopped the game once more (at least this time I knew how to play).

And the year is 2014, another digging through my stuff and the little treasure called op was found once again! I re-introduced the game to some of my friends and 2 of them really liked it. We made a deck for each one of us but our resources were limited since I had only cards from the original set and Character sets of some characters (meaning only one copy of each card for those heroes) so we ended up having decks of proxy with some op cards in them XD. So since we decided that we really like the game and we wont abandon it I contacted The Orange King again. (Larry if you r reading this, I am SO SO Sorry for those loooong lists of cards and back to back orders). Long story sort, with the help of Larry I managed to complete all sets (missing out some promos) and got stuff for decks (missing a few cards).

What I love about this game is how I ll see one card that I really love and try to make something out of it. Either that is a homebase or a special or an inherent ability. I feel like there could be many great decks, even though I keep seeing the same decks in the tournaments u guys organize ( No more Triple draw 3 decks PLZ :P ). That is why I love ur OP GOD, I ve seen him play different style of decks like the Thor-New leash on life ( which I had thought. I also wanted to add Emma as well, to not only give me the best hand but maybe I could also get rid of my opponents cards with her special OPD and add the Onslaught Citadel battlesite with Holocaust's special OPD so I could get that combo more often...but it was too "heavy" of a deck).

Anyway, for someone who started with I don't know what to say , I said a lot :P

nice to meet you Philip! playing with proxies is the way to go when you don't have many cards :)

i have tried creating different styled and themed decks, maybe not the most competitive, just need to playtest and tweak here and there, but yeah, you can do what you want, use who you want, build the best deck you can to your style :)P

@Breadmaster : I wish my fav was used as much as Sable. (It's Iceman :P )

@Steve : My friends and I try a lot of different decks but to be honest I wish I was in the states to come to one of the tournaments and test my decks and my skills :). P.S We just had a heat wave (40°C)
