Edit: I'd like to get some feedback/advice for my OP Championship deck. I haven't played competitively since before the game went defunct, so I'm feeling a little rusty. I've been practicing using the videos from the last event and so far my deck seems vulnerable against the No Specials Event, the KO event, and is a little shaky on defense. It also has 58 cards and I'm not sure what/if I should cut anything out.
Here is my deck so far:
Cable - Spawn - X-Bables
Hawkeye(Reserve)
Specials:
Cable: AG EL AN AT AG AS AW AA
Spawn: AR GJ ADx2 MF ZY
X-Babies: AG AOx2 HO

Original Post:
I'm working on my deck for the October tournament and I need a 17 point character. I'm having trouble deciding between X-man and Holocaust.
I was hoping to get some opinions on who is a better choice.
If I go with Holocaust, I will only have 1 8 stat character and if I go with X-man, I won't have a front line character with a negate.
Any thoughts?
Back when i was running, Spawn, Invisible Woman: Malice, X-man and Dr. Strange in reserve, I found that X-man was not contributing as much as I thought he would. I found that he couldn't contribute very much during energy teamworks because of his low fighting, strength and intellect ratings. I eventually switched him out for Scarlet Witch and found that the deck was much better balanced. Negates are some of the most powerful non-OPD cards in the game. At the tournament, you're going to need ALOT of offense if you don't have negates. And i'm not just talking about big attacks, i'm talking about Draw 3s, Hulk's Savage, JWs, Stand-off + BJ, Viking Pyre combos to win....
who are the other 2?
http://overpower.ca/tools/battlesites.php
is it onslaughts citadel?
if it is
the sents and x-man both of course have the EE special for dealing with powercards
in this case who's the reserve?
Spawn and Cable
I was thinking tons of big attacks and avoids.
Cable has a 9s, a 7i, a 6f, plus an avoid and a teammate 9 or less avoid
Spawn has the 7s and the 9 or less avoid
X-Man the 11M, PC avoid, and avoid/may not be attacked for remainder of battle.
But I like the Scarlet Witch recommendation; that would let me use Onslaught's Citadel as a battlesite. I was using Outback (with 4 avoid, 2 negates and a shift)

sounds good man
altho it is
78 pointsyou could put x-man in reserve with (http://overpower.ca/cards/specials/1539.png)
and the x babies up fron and still be a 76 point team and still have someone with a negate
i would put in 3 grid magneto or professor x in reserve and scarlet witch, cable and spawn in the front...

magneto with mental bolt?
oops meant professor x
I had the X-Babies in reserve originally, but switching to the front line would help out with the negate and allow me to keep X-man.
I'm gonna try out Magneto in reserve tonight and see how that looks.
Thanks again for the suggestions everyone
Xbabies with their negate is too valuable to put in reserve, gotta have them in the front-line. Not sure i've ever seen a deck with the x-babies in reserve. Magneto in reserve is definitely the way to go.
i know alot of people like the x-babies and they have better cards than scarlet witch in my opinion but I can't over their crappy grid. IF you do end up using them, make sure you use image inducer to move power card hits over to them.
Based on what you're trying to accomplish, I would strongly suggest a lineup of Spawn, Cable, X-Babies, and Hawkeye in reserve with Onslaught's Citadel.
Onslaught, thanks for the idea. That has been the best lineup of the ones I've tried so far.
