Title: Check this out.
Post by: The Decepticons on September 17, 2014, 11:00:23 PM
Ok, so im not usually one for the whole copyright infringment thing, but i was bored one night and decided to bang out this online. Its an 8x11 microfiber glasses cloth. For me it seems about the right size to use as a mat for the Deck, Powerpack, and Dead pile. Didnt take forever to arrive either. Was gone most of the day, and was in the mail when i got home. Im pleased with how it turned out. A touch blurry, but what can you expect when you blow an image up. Still great though.

Unless Marvel is selling Wolverine/Spiderman/Onslaught microfibre cloths, you are in the clear. No reasonable person would confuse your cloth with a legit OverPower card.

Oh, i know there there wouldnt be any confusion as to mistaking it for a card. After all, its the size of a piece of paper. Still the likeness's are held in copyright for the specific characters. That being said, as long as i dont mass produce the thing and start selling them its all good. I can remember when Chessex and Caplow were given S&D letters from Marvel and DC based on custom ordered dice. Most places that will do a custom printed or manufactured order for you generally throw in the "no copyrighted material" in their disclaimer, but that's just to cover them on their end. This was done through a company in China. I figured they would either catch it in screening and reject the order, or they would push it through as normal. Not because they didnt see it but because they didnt care to do anything about it, as long as they wernt contacted by Marvel.

That being said... i kind of feel like i want to get 3 more heroes printed now, to fill out a team. It was either that or my initial plan, where i was going to actually print a team & homebase from one of my decks directly to a playmat. I just couldnt decide on what to use as the "background table" in the image that i was going to submit for printing.

And just for those who may have been curious. The cost of the cloth, 2 sided printing on 8x11 large, was $13 plus $4 for the shipping. Had a ten bucks off promo code though. Was worth the $7 total to me just to see how it would turn out.
