Title: Ever used OverPower Lackey to play online?
Post by: The Decepticons on September 30, 2014, 02:22:56 PM
Has anyone ever used the OverPower plugin for Lackey CCG, to play games online with? Just wanted some advice on experience with the deck editor on how someone would handle adding a  Battlesite + Specials, and a Homebase. Would a set of missions be handled the same way?

OPOnline keeps crashing on the friend i want to play with. Have the same version and all. Ill check on a possible troubleshoot or see what can be done to avoid it a bit more later. Not worried about that right now. Anyone help me with the above questions?

OPO is riddle with problems, but you can work around them once you see the signs - they're fairly consistent.

First - don't 'play' artifacts. That will always crash the system.

If you need to play one, 'place' it to the character you're playing it on, and note it in the chat window that you've played it.

Sometimes removing a hit will crash the game. But not always. I tend to just risk it.

Also, if the game is taking a moment too long to load up when you connect, don't initiate a 'who goes first' trigger from the menu, otherwise the draw won't go away and you'll have to reload.

Does OPOnline keep track of any rules and do the actions itself? Or do you have to keep track of the game freeform, like Apprentice for MtG. I can tolerate a deck editor crash or so, but not being able to heal a hit is almost a dealbreaker.

But that being said, i was moreso interested in if anyone here has used Lackey CCG to play.

It's freeform. It provides the basic structure but you're on your own for the rest.

It will give occasional reminders, like if you try and place during a round it will tell you that you normally may not do to, but it won't hinder you.

The heal bug is probably one in ten times. It's not overly pervasive, but it does happen from time to time.

OPO is the only online overpower we have, and it's pretty good for a 15 year old free program made by a fan.

LackeyCCG looks like junk, but it has an iOS app. Anyone tried Overpower on it? Playing OP against someone using an iPad seems pretty awesome, but the interface seems awful.

The deck editor takes a bit to get used to, but it was designed to be more universal. As such the whole thing was based off of the idea of Apprentice. It gives you the ability to play with actual card art, so as long as you dont keep the area cluttered its all good. As for an ipad app? i think ill avoid that. some interfaces just shouldnt be touch.
