Title: OP3: Ant-Man
Post by: OP3 on January 09, 2015, 03:46:39 AM
With the recent release of the trailer, timing seems appropriate that I post Character 46 of 50 in my Marvel Core Set:

And his Specials, as always:

Pain in the ass question:

Would it be possible when you post your hero cards to set the width in the {img} tag to something managable?  I've always done 350, which works out to ~100 dpi...considering that the HD images are viewable on deviantart, maybe just set the tag to {img width=X}...

"What???  That's all you have to say??  No commentary on the card or anything?"

I think this card, like all the others, is absolutely beautiful.

I've lost track of forum posts lately, but will you be producing the variant heroes as part of your core set?  I'd love to see the Scott Lang Ant-Man, too.

500 looks good to me.  Anything smaller and it's really hard to read the text.  Of course, I'm looking at it in 1920x1080 on a 15" laptop.  I went back and adjusted the others too.

Not in the Core Sets no.  Scott is on the list, and will now likely show up in the first Marvel expansion thanks to his newfound publicity what with the movie and new solo series and everything.

so does his inherent mean he can play a multi 5 as energy, fighting or strength even though he doesn't have the grid for it?

Great cards again.
I think I'm understanding better.  The terms "clone" and "variant", as used by the original game, don't really apply in the "Character"/"Identity" system you created.  Multiples of the same "Character" can be on the same team, but only 1 of each "Identity".
I can only assume that, depending on who you add in the future, a character such as Dark Beast/Hank McCoy will get a similar treatment.  Technically they are the same identity, but separate people with separate back-stories.  The same would also apply in a lesser way to a set such as Cable/Stryfe/X Man, who are clones (not in the OP sense) of the same identity, but had different upbringings, back-stories, and end results.
(If I'm still off-base, please let me know.)

I see the MultiPower usage as the MultiPower Power card would have to "used" as a type of attack that he could normally make.  Once it hits, it can count as any type.

I've ported over the Power Balance rules regarding the use of MultiPower and Any-Power cards, along with just about all their other optional rules (not the new point total calculations, since that's just overly complicated).  With that in mind, Hank would normally only be able to use up to a level 3 MP Power card, since his lowest stat is a 3.  He can now use a 5, but it would still only be able to act as Intellect.  Or a 4, which could be F or I of course.

Yes!  You've got it.  So like, you could build a team of four Green Lanterns, and some of their Specials will likely be playable by multiple Characters on that team, but they'd all have to have a different Identity.

QuoteI can only assume that, depending on who you add in the future, a character such as Dark Beast/Hank McCoy will get a similar treatment.

Well, there are special cases and Dark Beast is one of them.  He'd have "Henry McCoy" as his Identity, but I would probably have to give him an IA that stated something like, "Dark Beast does not count as a duplicate of Characters named 'Henry McCoy.'"  Since as you say, they are separate characters who have appeared together in the same comics.  Once I get around to him though, he'll probably get his own array of Specials instead of just playing Beast's.

QuoteThe same would also apply in a lesser way to a set such as Cable/Stryfe/X Man, who are clones (not in the OP sense) of the same identity, but had different upbringings, back-stories, and end results.

But since they all have separate identities (lower case) in the comics, there would be no reason for them to share an Identity (with a capital I) in OP3.  Cable is Nathan Summers, X-Man is Nate Grey, and Stryfe is just Stryfe.  They wouldn't share any Specials either.  Stryfe will likely get an HI that lets him play all of Cable's though.

so to people not playing with the power balance rules (probably most people on this forum) he doesn't have an inherent ability

Ya, that's what they are normally.  750x1050 at 300 dpi prints up to exactly 2.5" x 3.5".
