I am very sorry for the late post about it, there were other things to take care of, but now we have confirmed it!
OverPower Championships 2015 is happening on October 10 with a side event on the evening of October 9. The city is Toronto but the venue is not confirmed yet.
More details about the event will be posted once we figure it all out.
Great news that the date is set. Do you have a rough idea of what area of TO the event will be held? I would like to get a hotel that is in the area and booking for the Thanksgiving weekend might get tough .
Thanks a lot!
We have two venues on the shortlist, either Toronto City Hall or Metro Hall. Metro Hall is the likelier candidate.
EDIT
Both are up in the air. City Hall is now in the lead because of better parking.
oh man, i'm going to have to wear a suit and tie to get in there..lol.
Awesome as I reserved at a hotel right across from City Hall!
I owe you a beer sir! We can get it on friday night or saturday night :)
Sounds good! Both nights are OK with me :)
The prize pool will be as follows:
1. $300 CAN
2. Monumental Booster Box
3. Batman Detective Hero
4. Beyonder
5. Hideout Discovered! Event
6. Assault on Onslaught Mission Set
7. Power Leech
8. Bastion
Ideally I would like to have 8 rounds of swiss with 40 minute time limits; 50 minute top 8 and top 4 with an unlimited finale. Until we find out how late we'll have the room for none of this is set in stone.
Friday tournament prize:
1. Entry into main tournament
Format will likely be 7-8 swiss rounds of 35 minute time limits with best record taking it. Again, this is still to be decided as we don't know all the details yet.
Friday fee: $7.50 USD or $10 CAN
Saturday fee: $30 USD or $40 CAN
Awesome, any special restrictions to decks on Friday night?
anyone interested in taking my action for the tournament?
What does that mean?
Like in poker? Buying you in for a percentage of your win?
Or do you mean just betting on you to win the tourny?
similar to poker. they pay the entrance fee, and get any prizes. i'll just be a mercenary, and use whatever deck they want (or one of my own if they choose)
maybe change things up a bit for me
As announced on the Facebook page:

Here are all the Event cards for our 20 Years of OverPower Mission!
We came up with the events after deciding to re-release the Shattered Image mission and found actual events in the OverPower timeline to match most of the effects of the cards.
The last preview will come up on Saturday with the remainder of the Missions and reservations will begin on Monday October 5.
The prices will be $15 for the complete set, with $1 shipping to Canada, $2 shipping to USA, and $4 shipping to the rest of the world. You can order up to 5 sets and combine shipping -- at which point I will have to figure out how much it'll cost you. All prices Canadian$.
Awesome! As they are re-releases of existing cards, will they be tournament legal (at least in TO?)
100% legal the moment you pay your entry fee :)
cool cards, Jack! looks like a Mission worth playing!
How many cards do you get per set?
1 set contains 7/7 Missions and 6/6 Events.
These look great. How do we order sets?
I should have a website to reserve sets starting Oct 5 at which point you can reserve up to 5.
Payments will be taken starting the week after the tournament to see how many I can fulfill.
Great job! These look fantastic!

Saturday's entry fee will be $25 USD or $30 CAD now.
Friday's event is a Beyonder tournament with 59/63/67/73/77 as the stat totals (+1 from their usual limits). We will be testing our the Activator placed on Team OverPower rule for Friday only. Entry fee for the tournament will be confirmed shortly.
what happened to Mission #4?
I had that preview up on Facebook before but forgot to show it here.

thanks MUCH, Jack! call me an old fogey or whatever, but i'm not on Facebook, so i didn't catch it.
I blame me, I wanted to make announcements on both sites at the same time. The pre-order stuff will be out on the forums a bit earlier than Facebook ;)
Just wondering if my babes power cards will be allowed at the tournament.

No.
Obscure alternate artwork is advantageous.
This goes for all customized cards.
OK, I just thought I'd ask.
Funny thing is that I usually use DC and Image power cards and some people don't know them either...
20 Years of OverPower Pre-Orders are up. (https://overpower.ca/20)
are the custom missions legal?
All custom cards 'created' for the overpower championships (2014/2015) are legal in all Toronto tournaments.
All other custom cards are at the discretion of the tournament organizer.
So chuu keep asking. He got Larry on board. Lol.
M
OP GOD
I'll keep asking for every tournament that I attend :) I'm guessing that they will only be legal if I ever run a tournament.
11AM registration and 12PM start.
I just realized I am missing a few cards for my deck tomorrow. I know this is super last minute, but if anyone could help me out with any of the following cards that would be amazing.
I still need:
Dazzler Hero
Dazzler AD
Reavers Hero
Serpent Society Negate x2
I'm willing to purchase or trade. Thanks!
Hey Pat, I'll bring these cards for you.
Awesome! Thanks so much chuu
Congrats to Garion Sutton for winning the tournament.

oh well. as I've been reflecting, I've actually felt better about the 3-4 record. I had brutal luck that tournament
congrats garion!

And the site has deck/match info as well.
2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate
seems like drawing an even seed was the ticket!
Oh man, based on my ranking, I shouldn't have even played...
So, almost a quarter of contenders rocked battle sites. How did they do against DOW? was an activator allowed to be placed for this tourney?
Activator place wasn't used for Saturday's tournament. It is still in the play testing stage, we'll have two meetups before the end of 2015 to determine what the ruling should be for tournaments in 2016.
That said, Sean did quite well going 8-2 with a Battlesite deck. Unfortunately he also got knocked out in the quarter finals against a nasty early DOW.
Yeah, I didn't face a single site this time around - all of my opponents were using Any Heroes. So 80% win ratio against Anyheroes with a Battlesite seems to buck the trend nicely.
it was a good run, but the overall win total is still 16-15 for anys by my count
and as always, it is too easy for an any team to draw a god hand against a site one. of course sites can get lucky too, but the frequency with which it happens the other way is brutal
2 of my matches were more or less over in round 1. against phil (match 1), he drew entropy field and dow hand 1...I managed to drag the match out to round 4 or 5 ish (I forget, it's on camera), but I still didn't play an activator that game. the problem was, he kept placing and conceding, then going hard the next round. even though I ventured 3 (which I'm pretty sure he knew was bullshit, and could easily win) he still conceded, and dominated the following rounds, and my hand full of activators went to the dead pile
against marcel, same issue. devourer round 1. I go first, so I desperately try to get out post's obfuscate to mitigate the event...negated. that was the only activator I played that game. same thing; he loaded up and conceded, even knowing that my ventured 2 was bullshit
entropy field, dow, and team overpower all have advantages over their battlesite counterparts. add them up, and site teams are swamped, and require good luck to but together a good tournament
it is so common for any teams to place out and concede round 1. god forbid the site team has a bad draw hand 1, and loses, as was my case with henry. so round 2, I have a good hand and venture 4...he draws dow. so I lose that round, and now have 5 missions in defeated to start round 3...good luck winning that game
16-15 is a balanced overall result. That's really what we're going for. We don't want sites to dominate any more than any-heroes do.
Of 31 Any Hero Vs. Battlesite matches, the Any Heroes only edged out Sites by one point. That's an encouraging average.
Breadmaster, how is your record just in the finals?
my record in the finals is 1-1. I beat mike way back, and lost to phil in Toronto last year
15-16 seems balanced, but there are other factors. sites have made it close like this before, but the average still favours anys. I believe that battlesites have NEVER beaten anys head to head in a single tournament. if it was truly balanced, the overall average would be 50-50 ish, with each side having the edge in different tournaments. anys still win 60% of the time
another factor, is that sites needed a historically good run with one team to go 8-2 (that's REALLY good!), and still couldn't pull even. a site took the top seed, which is great, but I think it's also the only top seed to lose to an 8 (no surprise 8 was an any).
I crunched some numbers, and in the recent tournaments (since the 4/year), 46 teams have vied for the championship (odd number, because sometimes 4 teams play for it, and sometimes 8 do). I came up with 38 any hero teams, and 8 battlesites. of those 8 site teams, 6 lost in their first match, and were out of the running. one match was site vs site, leading to one advance, and 1 site team beat an any once. both sites lost their semi-final match to any heroes
that means in elimination games, where the best sites are playing the best anys, the head to head record is 1-7, which is FAR from even.
also interesting, is of the 16 any hero teams to play in the finals, 10 used the shattered image set. this is of note, because they aren't losing ground against anyhero teams that use a different event set (which in theory should give them the advantage over shattered image, but doesn't)
thanks for the interesting read Breadmaster, my thought was that Battlesites are fine during the regular tournament games since there is a wide variety of opponents but when they start facing opponents in the "playoffs" they hit a wall. Until battlesites win 2 out of the 4 tournaments I don't see it as being even.
Yes, everything you've said makes total sense, and granted this is one sampling. But we are working on nudging things back into balance. The DoW multi activator drop has made a noticeable difference in that trend. We want to avoid massive change that just swings the pendulum too far in a short period of time.
The next step is to implement the ability to place Activators to Team OP, and see how that helps things. It will certainly help curb the placed card advantage that Any Heroes enjoy. One step at a time. Even a single tournament parity is a sign that things are moving to where we want them.

Any idea when the next two meet ups will be Jack?
Sometime November, sometime during the last week of December.
