December 30, 2010. Nine people gathered at a photography studio in Toronto and played an abaddoned card game they all love. Little did they know that this simple meetup gave the game a new lease on life.
Fast forward 5 years and we're now on the 3rd year of our tournament circuit. We haven't implemented too many rule changes but in 2015, we added the the following rule to help balance Any Heroes and Battlesites:
QuoteDevourer of Worlds may be attacked with up to 4 Activators at a time.
We felt this was a well needed rule to even out the playing field between Any Heroes and Battlesites. We're hoping to finally see a Battlesite deck as our champion, so, starting in 2016 we're formally announcing this rule:
Quote1 Activator may be placed to Team OverPower/OverPower Toronto homebases.
The inherent abilities of the homebases will be:
QuoteOverPower Toronto may place one Any Hero/Character Special card, one Activator card, and one Any Homebase Aspect card. Any Hero/Character Specials and Activators may be played by any Character on OverPower Toronto.
QuoteTeam OverPower may place one Any Hero/Character Special card, one Activator card, and one Any Homebase Aspect card. Any Hero/Character Specials and Activators may be played by any Character on Team OverPower.
We are also allowing the placing of both Any Heroes and Activators when Green Goblin and Dracula have played their IC specials, this is the only legal time these homebases can have 3 cards placed.

I can't wait!!!
Man... it's gonna be tough to build that Dracula/Green Goblin team.....
Just do, Dracula, Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Mr. Fantastic in reserve...
Pumpkins and lightning flying like crazy!
Use Dracula, Mr.F and Green Goblin... Kingpin in reserve?
Pair of draw 3's.... I dunno. Better players than I will have to come up with a competitive use for those two characters.
Green Goblin AND Dracula or is it EITHER of them get one on the table?
More impressive with both. But still would be super impressive if someone manages a winning record with either.

Only 1 Any Hero/Character can be placed to the Homebase. So yes, only 1. And only if you play with Battlesites. If you decide to use Green Goblin/Dracula with Any Heroes, those 4 cards would have to fight for the place slot with Guardian Angel, Leech, etc.

In that situation, the battlesite deck would have the advantage..lol
Everyone that comes to the event will be sure to leave with a true piece of overpower history.
More info to follow...
After a great 20th anniversary year of overpower in 2015 it is time to look to the future. It is time to make coming to events as much fun for everyone as possible. Also, the future of our game depends upon building a player base. Here are a few things that will be implemented at this years K2 Challenge:
- Everyone 16 years of age and under will be allowed to play in the K2 for free. This year and every future year. Please bring your kids, bring their friends, this is a great welcoming community. Let's introduce new players to all overpower has to offer.
- Raffles! There will be two raffles this year. One raffle will be for everyone that enters the event. This will be for something super special. The second raffle will be the kind you can choose to buy tickets for. Among other things, the second raffle will include two different pieces of original overpower artwork to be released in the coming weeks.
- Most improved player of the year award. Starting this year the winner of the above award will win free entry into the following years K2 event. The winners name will also be put on the new awards page that will be put up on the forum. You win this award by gaining the most rating points in a year. Simple. The lower your rating is to start the year the better.
That's it for now, get excited!!!
In the beginning there was the earth. Shortly after that there was Power Players. Do you know what it is? Have you heard of it? Power Players was an early development stage of the game we know and love. It was the stand alone game that was slowly molded into the game we have today. Power Players had two decks, the A Deck and the B Deck. Each deck contains 6 heroes and 2 specials cards per hero. It also contains many other fun cards that allow heroes to climb/fly and jump. Hurling things like man hole covers and hot dog stands was par for the course. We are happy to be able to announce that there will be numerous power players cards in the prize pool at this years event. We will also have a full set of both decks on display to be viewed. And Finally... The winner of this years event will be the happy new owner of a full set which will include both decks, both deck boxes, and one copy of the power players rule book. With a little luck this person may even put these cards into action so we can see a power players game played in the lobby following the event!!!

Time to release the super secret raffle prize. This is the raffle every participant will be entered into simply by playing. All players have an equal chance to win. The raffle prize will be a complete power players play set. Both A and B decks, deck boxes and one rule book. That's right, for one year only simply by playing and getting lucky you could leave with the prize the winner leaves with. In the unlikely event that the winner of the event also wins the raffle, the 2nd place player in the event will receive the other power players set. So bring as many players as you can and up your chances of your play group leaving with this great prize.
The first piece of raffle art was revealed on Facebook today. The piece is black cat from the original level 2 energy power card. There will be a second piece in the paid raffle as well as a 3rd piece that will be in the regular prize pool. There will also be a booster box of monumental in the prize pool.
Two weeks away!
If anyone in Toronto wins the black cat piece, I'd be willing to buy it from you.
Setting attendence records at K2 this year!!!
Let's push it even higher!
Come on guys, people will share rooms and floors. Just grab your deck and hop in your car with the hopes of overpower glory. The rest will work itself out. This isn't going to be an event you want to miss!!!

Toronto peeps acquired that... D'oh!
Very interesting....thanks for letting me know AO. By the way, did I see you sitting at the top 8 table by chance?
*blush* yup. I had a REALLY good day! It was a blast ! Some many new faces! OP lives & is GROWING!
Congratulations good Sir. I've been rooting for you :)
It was definitely a good time. 25 players! And Phil Keffer didn't play, plus a couple of players from Buffalo and Ohio didn't come... perhaps 30 players is not an unrealistic near future goal!
On the Battlesite Vs. Any Hero front:
I think between the multi-activator drop on DoW and the ability to place Activators to Team OP, we have narrowed the gap of parity between sites and Any Heroes in terms of balance.
Sites represented 1/3 of the teams this weekend, and 1/4 of the finalists in top 8. Alas, we played one another in the quarters so 1 of the 2 sites in the finals was eliminated right away, but the final match was a Site vs. Any Hero and a solid game that could have gone either way. That I think is good progress.
For sure a huge breakthrough event for Overpower.
25....
Thanks to everyone!!!
