So what's up with these Marvels cards?
I was looking at an old thread and saw that someone printed some sets on actual card stock? Anyone have any of these cards available or is anyone planning another printing?
Someone (I think Orange King) sent me a couple printed on some flimsy (no offense) paper, but I'd be interested in getting a set(s) on actual stock.
Is this possible or am I way too late or what?
Getting a good set of marvels in card stock will be hard now, anyone with a set or two is unwilling to part with them and no one is printing any at the moment. One of these days I'll hit up another print shop and see if they will print some cards.
Does anyone have the computer files?
no files. jack kept those pretty private
here are some of them

this one has more AND a download files button:

and here is Jack's set from overpower.ca

How did you guys print these? Did you just take the files to a print shop and ask them to try to match OP cards the best they could?
It'll cost you an arm an a leg if you take the individual files to a print shop since they will do one of two things:
1) print one card per page, so that'll cost like $1 per card stock sheet
2) use software like adobe illustrator or indesign to merge all the images onto a one sheet layout so that multiple cards will print on one sheet. They will charge you like a $50 service fee but in the long run this is much cheaper.
If Jack agrees, I can come up with a printing template like a printer would do so that people can print their own marvels cards.
I would be very interested in that!
Sure, why not.
how about using web printers like cowcow or printerstudio? Anyone ever tried those?

I have no experience with print shops but would be willing to pay to get them printed if they look identical to OP cards. Do you think I could take this file and some example OP cards to a shop and get them to print them for me so that the cards look legit? Do you think they'd be able to replicate the dimensions and (close to) the stock?
I'd love to surprise my brother with a set of these.
no back will be cheaper too... but its not like you can play with jack's naked or in penny sleeves...
If someone does decide to get these printed i would be more then willing to pitch in/split the cost of the printing. I simply don't have the time to do it myself.
Count me in too if someone is willing to set up.
Artscow or printer studio could probably do a decent job. Here is an fairly cheap way. Make a word doc landscape with .3 margins. Put all the card in, you'll get 8 a sheet. Print them on a nice laser on full sheet labels. If you have a rotary cutter, cutting mat and metal ruler its easier to cut straight. Affix them to extra original set cards and trim any excess gently with scissors. Almost perfect. It takes some practice but they look pretty good.
Is this thread still alive?
I'm in the process of printing a set of customs for myself. One thing I found that makes the process quite laborious is that the printer wants you to have a 36 px border around your whole card for misprints.
Does anyone (Jack?) have a set of JPG files for marvels ready to go?
Yeah, the bleed area is one reason why i've never had anything printed professionally. Overpower cards are particularly troublesome since two sided have the frame go clear to the edge and the other two sides have the art full bleed to the sides. Cards like Star Wars CCG or VS are a lot easier since they have a black border all the way around. I have no good solution for you. My Marvels thread does have all of the official Marvels cards completed in it if you are looking for files though.
I re-built my templates to allow for the bleed area, it's just a matter of re-collecting the art, for my set.
Someone may have a full-size version of the cardback art from a promo or poster or something that we can use to create a "full bleed" version of the cardback.
makeplayingcards.com is decent.
Thanks - I've been looking at makeplayingcards.com for a while.
A little bit more than I really wanted to spend, but I'm just going to bite the bullet and do it. Trying to figure out if I want to trim my set to 76 or print a few duplicates and go to 108
Just got a set of custom Game of Throne themed Settlers of Catan cards made on Powersurge-like stock.
Very nice cards, great quality. Value isn't too bad if you're ordering more cards - they don't charge shipping per-pack of cards like artscow does.
I recently ordered a stock sampler. They have said they're sending me a free sample of the various cardstocks so i can compare to my collection. Historically, we don't play sleeved, so I'd like to match as closely as possible, although I'm putting a custom cardback so I might as well just start sleeving...
is this happening?
Just checking in. Has anyone had any luck getting cards printed? If so, any tips/recommendations?
Also, does anyone have a hi-res image of the Spiderman vs. Wolverine back?
I had a friend help me out with showing me how to create better frames today. I've been revamping my Marvels set with the 'official' Marvels cards in it into printable format with a bleed area. A couple people have asked about having stuff that can be sent to printerstudio or somewhere.
Right now when I've gotten from Adam Warlock to Bishop's Special cards (+Darkhawks). When I'm done if anyone wants a zip let me know.
Also, did the placard hero cards have the wolverine spider-man backs? That might be a way to get a decent scan of the card backs.
Idk if anyone has noticed, but inside Overpower Online, inside one of the files, I forget which, is a HD scan of the cardback. Ill look at it next time Im at work and let you know if I can find it again.
hey fennshysa - THANK YOU for reminding me about the placard cards. i just had a house fire and lost a lot of stuff, and i forgot to look for those! i'm going back in tomorrow, so i'll have to look.
this is the first time I've been on the boards all week, and my available internet time will be spotty since I lost my computer. but I did manage to save the electronic version of the homemade that I have collected over the years. my actual cards are questionable, but they may be savable, I don't know yet.
more later.
Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry. Everybody got out Ok?
yeah, we're all OK. both of my kids & their spouses and 2 cats per couple moved back in with me last month, but if they hadn't been there I probably wouldn't be talking to you right now. (my son-in-law was the 1st to smell the smoke & start waking us up.) the house has to be rebuilt, but at least we only lost stuff, not lives. my daughter used a collection taken up by her co-workers to buy me a laptop so that I could get back on the board, but it only does so much. so no more creating cards for me for quite a while.
on the oversized placard character cards: we had 2 sets, but my son lost the open package during 1 of his past moves, and I finally found the 1 that I had that was never been opened. but we both think that we remember the backs were the original OP backs (spidey & wolvie), just a bigger size, same as the front of the placards. i'm not ready to break the seal on the unopened package at this time.
on the AC codes, I can't get into my excel file to verify it until I get a new computer & get the proper program into it to open the file. but look at Major Victory's "Protect The Team" special either on this board or on deviantart.com (i'm justaOPfan there) and you can get the wording I used. I wish I could give credit to who I got it the idea from, but until I can get a real computer & put excel on it, I can't research it. and I think I was wrong about 2 deviations for AC; it was AE that had 2 deviations. (1 that used card from Power Pack by OP3, and 1 that allowed a DTR if the combined attack was defended from I-don't-remember where.)
Very happy to hear everyone is safe. Hope you are able to locate all of your cards!
thanks Arctursa. my cards were not burnt, but they did suffer smoke damage. right now they are with the ServePro team to attempt to deodorize. the unused extras were in cardboard boxes at the opposite end of the hose (possibly for sale at a later date), and the cards we played with were in plastic snap-shut boxe so mthay should come out OK. my "collection" (every card ever printed, including variations and printing errors except for Avenger's ID card and the white 6 teamwork) were in Ultra-Pro pages in 3 ring binders, so the cards are in question. I explained to ServePro that the containers are all they should worry about, and to minimize any handling of the actual cards. time will tell.
