Title: what does your username / pic mean?
Post by: gameplan.exe on March 12, 2011, 02:13:10 AM
I just noticed that drdeath25 swiped my picture (although he politely reversed the frame, so we can distinguish between us). I guess my mom was right, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery! She has wisdom, she loves me, and she plays Overpower! Is there anything more you could want from your mother?  :)

Anyway, since I'm Gambit's #2 fan (although I only recently discovered that), I loved the idea of my little Gambit figure playing Overpower and charging cards, and whatnot, so I set it up and took a pic of it.

as for my username, it's actually just my first initial and last name. Creative, I know!  ;D

what's yours about?

Marvel comic fans would know that Nate Grey is the name of the character I use as my picture. He's also nicknamed X-Man and we are fortunate to have an Overpower Card for him, and quite playable too.  ;D He quickly became my favorite Marvel character when the Age of Apocalypse was released and recently, after a painfully long absence, it appears he is returning to the pages of Marvel comics.

AoA is easily, by far and away, my favorite arc! I have all 4 of the TPB books and i've read them half a dozen times, at least!

You are so lucky your favorite character is playable in this game  ;). What is your favorite X-Man deck to play with?

That's a better spin than my orgianl reaction which was, "lame".  ::)  I thought he could have used a different picture of gambit for his avatar, but at least you didn't come back with the sig. "REAL undisputed #1 Gambit fan in the world!"  :P

Anyway, my avatar is do the nostalgia of my childhood when the hulk was my favorite character/cartoon. Later wolverine and venom shared that title.

Kal-el is Superman's Kryptonian name, and as he is my favorite character, that is what I use.

I'll need to upload a picture soon. I have a nice animated Superman logo one that I use on other boards.

Rucker was a nickname I picked up playing rugby.  73 is just my fav number and I've been a Deadpool fan ever since "The Circle Chase" back in 95 I think.

I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't played using X-Man yet. I've been purchasing most of his cards and I just need Ultimate Potential. I'd like to use him on a team with Cable though. Any recommendations on what other teammates to add with him?

X-Man and Cable leave you 2 points over, so you could go with two 18s, a 17-19, a 16-20, or X-Babies and a 21.

For my money, I'd go with Iceman up front and Quicksilver in Reserve. That gives you an extra teammate avoid for the front line, to pair with Cable's and Quicksilver from Reserve backs up a F teamwork card and he has that GIANT 11S attack  ;D

But I don't want to de-rail this topic, I love the responses so far about favorite characters!

I think my favorite part of this game is that it lets me "play superheroes" like I did when I was a kid  ;D

Just have the Summers family reunion. Cable, X-Man, Cyclops, Jean in reserve. 76 on the button.

Big Bad Harve was the name they gave to Harvey Dent's darker side before he became Two-Face in Batman: The Animated Series.

I decided it was kind of catchy, so I adopted it. ;)

Yours and mine both! Its certainly one of the arcs that I always go back and read countless times. So many great characters came out of it -- Nate Grey, AOA Blink, Dark Beast, AOA Sabretooth (would have made a great OP variant), and Holocaust, among others.

Ranerdar was the name of my first Everquest character. I kept clicking "get random name" and that's what finally came up. I've since used it as the first character in all the MMOs I used to play.

As for the avatar, I've always been a fan of non-super superheroes and Green Arrow was my favorite.

CoS- abbreviation for Champion of Solaris. In the battletech world Solaris is the "arena" world were mech pilots battle for $$$ an honor. In the CCG by WotC the pilot Kai- Champion of Solaris, automatically "wins initiative" in any battle he is in, adds 4 damage to his Mech AND deals two additional damage to each unit in opposition to him in the battle. My favorite card in the game. - my Avatar is my photo taken by the newspaper covering one of my homicide trials from 2008.

a_noble_kaz is just a play on words for the character Kazuya Mishima from the tekken series. i actually stole it from one of my brothers (who is a tekken guru) sigs from tekkenzaibatsu.com which was "dedicated to the kaz" because kazuya is very difficult to use effectively in tekken but very fun if used correctly. i was so impressed, both with his sig and his tekken skills, that i stole the idea for a screenname and started using kazuya in tekken 5!

Every time I see your username I hear Rupert Thorne reading Harvey's psych file in his snide, condescending voice.

My username is from when I was a kid I really liked Cecil's character in Final Fantasy 4 and how he became a paladin, but that word was way too common to be able to get as a username so I used the old latin form of the word.  My profile pic, which I just added recently but have used on other sites, is Dark Claw from the amalgam universe.  I really liked the amalgam comics and especially Dark Claw and his nemesis the Hyena.

I love FFIV. I'm playing through it again right now (the PS3 does some interesting things with the Chronicles version, but it works). It's probably my favorite of the whole series.

I suppose that includes me :P

My username is a word I made up that supposed to mean "one who uses metaphor." I originally made it as an emcee name when I used to rap a lot, and I ended up just using it everywhere on the web. Though I still write and freestyle occasionally, I'm ironically known by another name altogether in the local hiphop scene, so metaphist just became my web handle.

To elaborate on my name, I used to be known as 'webheadwiz' on Battle.net in my Diablo days. This is obviously a shortened form of Web-Headed Wizard, I liked the cool art on the promo. I truncated it to Web, or known mostly as weB on a gaming forum. I can't remember why I liked having the last character capitalized, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I was also OverPower on Battle.Net as well...

After I quit Diablo, I decided to drop the name altogether and got into web development. I couldn't think of a good domain name to buy so I simply bought jacktruong.org and decided that I wanted to take pride in my name and kept it as my online alias. As such, I'm either Jack where ever I can be and JackTruong/JackT as a backup.

Much like Metaphist my names based off my rap name. Back when I started making music The hardest thing to me was naming myself cause it just feels lame to name yourself so I decided I'd be NameLEss. Then one day one of my friends was making fun of me and was like owww the great Nameless. So I started going by NameLEss The Great.

Not really, but all my subject matter was mostly game related :P I might be able to fish up some old stuff I posted around...

Here's some quick freestyle I posted back when SF4 first came out :P

I got hurricane kicks that splatter the canvas
Hailing from Florida so you know the rotation expands quick
Blow your whole camp out the pocket like trailer parks
Fathered that style but I can still rush down the sun till mother land is dark
Shadow Law battles raw like sub bosses
Turned selectable to take your roster hostage
The match? You lost it
Spaniards that lost it on some narcissist shit don't need the EX
Meta's fist is what he'll toss mask and claw with
Back off with backwards arc glowin arm descent
A dictator no less than Stalin leavin your chest stomped in
Sans chargin
A banned marksman
Spamin my targets
Tradin hits in the air but it's you who landed the hardest

Kyle = of Gaelic origins, stemming from an area in Scotland where straights of water flow between hilled areas; fertile land used for cattle grazing. Sometimes also translated as "handsome" (but I think this is BS... I think it's just a rumour that Kyles of the world have started, to make up for the fact that our name represents prime grazing real estate).

Rather than try and think of something witty, clever, or mysterious, I now prefer to just use my name. Because I'm never as witty, clever, or mysterious as I try to be.

Tars Tarkas (http://i.imgur.com/5M9YC.jpg) is a green, many-armed, tusked, gigantic Martian man from the first science fiction books ever: A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars, and The Warlord of Mars by the great Edgar Rice Burroughs (http://www.beenhereandthere.com/SMF/index.php?topic=67.0). There were a million Darths over at the Jedi Council forums, so I went for Dark Lord instead.

I created Demacuus back in college. He wasn't a superhero, but more a charatcer you might find in Tolkien's world.

As I created him/her/it, basically, his origin is as follows: He is the physical manifestation of the planet's sentient intelligence.  As such he can communicate with all of the planet's inhabitants and appear as anything so as to blend in with those around him, man or beast.  Amongst humans, he usually takes the form of an extremely old man, who is quiet and likes to observe the goings on around him.
