Title: Knowhere - justa for fun!
Post by: justa on April 09, 2017, 04:26:25 PM
i changed my mind....
I had a dickens of a time deciding on a Knowhere location for the GotG, so I finally settled on 2 separate sites.  I used subtitles to differentiate them, and to allow others to do their own Knowheres with minimal name duplication.  I couldn't get the subtitles to look right at an angle, so I settled for straight text on those.
For my 1st version (Guardian Base), I had 7 different line-ups to choose from.  I counted which characters appeared in the most line-ups, and ended up with the cast of the 2nd movie (go figure).  I avoided using Cosmo as an Aspect because I did a character for him.

Aspects:
Guardians Of The Galaxy (*D2) Team's Teamwork card bonuses are an additional +1 for remainder of game.

"Passport" Bracelet (*D1) Remove all hits from any Front Line character.  Move character to Reserve.  Return character to Front Line at end of battle.

My2nd version is the rest of the GotG group.
As a Homebase:  It allows you to make up just about any damn GotG team you want (78 or less total points - 19 character to choose from!), and I didn't give them the Passport Bracelet.  Nova made a perfect replacement (even though 4+ people have posted versions of him).  After all, he was the one who recommended using Knowhere as a homebase in the group's beginning.
As a Battlesite:  I normally didn't use more than 12 Activators in any deck, so I didn't think a limit of 13 was any big deal.  The 2 OPDs might be too much, but I wanted it to kick ass.

Nova (*A8) Acts as a level 6 AnyPower card.  May be used to attack or defend.  May not be combined with other cards.

But I couldn't let go of Knowhere yet.  It was also the base for the Annihilators, so I justa had to do a version just for them.  The total points number is way to hgh to make a legal team (more than +12!), so I thought I'd double-nerf the location by IA.  But they're not unbeatable, with only 2 8s (if you count Surfer remakes) of different types (like Fantastic 4), and Gladiator's 8 is conditional.  They get their ally Nova & a Bracelet for Aspects.

Guess I'll have to do a few more characters for this last one.  This really is turning into a Cosmic Marvel project (though not at all as a "planned set").  Hope I don't step on too many toes in the process.
Maybe someday I should resurrect my Heralds Of Galactus project from a few years ago, although I had problems with several of those characters in finding decent artwork that I could make use of (damned text bubbles).  justa thought...

Let me know what you think.

Cool! 3 versions and they are still different from mine. Pretty neat.
I like the idea of Guardian Support. I don't know if you need the more than one OPD though. The fact that there are 13 characters means you can have 13 activators with no duplication issues.

Your Guardian Support is actually a really good model for an Avengers and X-Men Homebase.

I've got 5 of your missing characters coming at some point. :)

personally i think my way is quite cumbersome, but its the only thing i could come up for a team to be any version of GotG.  i like OP3's system of swapping out players with same affiliation on a location, and i seriously considered adding a "GotG" icon to the character cards to to make mine work similarly.  but he's put a lot of work into his new system & rebuild of characters, and i didn't want to gum up his works by copying his gimmick.  i see generic characters & mechanics as fair game.

after much consideration and review of my notes, i agree ">1 OPD" is way to much.  my original plan was for 2 only (still makes it kick ass).  i updated the card in the post to "2", and upped total points to 78 to allow more flexibility in team building.
