I've been having a hard time getting any new cards going very well. With OP3 and Justas really nice cards that they've been putting out lately I'm having a hard time coming up with anything different. So i think that my next project will be something that I don't think I've ever seen a whole set done of.
I'm going to try and complete a whole set of "classic Image" characters. I've actually got a couple character sets close to done but i'm having a terrible time creating a frame for the cards that looks good. I want to fill in the missing Cyberforce, Gen13 and WildCAT characters, add some villains and some of the other early characters that got left out (even some of Liefield's)
As a starting point I compiled a list of all Image Special card by code. That was pretty interesting. (I'll post it below)
A question for anyone familiar with Keowan's Pitt and Cyberforce's Impact. What would you rate them at in Strength?
Here is the first tentative list of characters. Suggestions? Keep in mind if you suggest an more obscure character I'll need help finding images. :)

glad you'll be back at it, fennshysa. (i didn't mean to put you off your cosmic set :(.) i've been trying to focus on some missing DC characters lately, but have been having trouble finding appropriate art i like. there's no chance of me overlapping you on this project, as my knowledge of most Image titles is weak at best.
in answer to your question, i'm not comfortable putting a grid on characters that i'm not really up on, but i can say what i've seen.
for Pitt, i've seen 6 different grids (but only 2 sets of specials - go figure). all but 1 of them put him at 8 strength.
for Impact, i've only seen 1 grid (no specials). that 1 put him at 8 strength also.
from your list, i've seen ([different character grids and or IAs]/[sets of specials]):
Ballistic (4/2)
Cyblade (4/1)
Freefall (1/0)
Lara Croft (7/2)
Maul (2/1)
Maxx (3/3)
Prophet (1/0)
Spartan (3/2)
Voodoo (2/2) (not counting legacy cards)
Warblade (3/1)
Youngblood (1/0)
some of these Image cards are ones you put up on that "other" site years back.
i guess my only question to you is: do you plan on focusing on 1 version of Spartan? or as multiple character/identities? or variant characters using the same set of specials?
looking forward to what you come up with!
My Image knowledge is pretty spotty at best too. I have a soft spot for Image though, i was really into comics as a kid when the Marvel exodus happened and was easily swayed by the shiny covers and big splash pages of Image. I didn't follow many of them for long though but I'm feeling nostalgic now.
One of the Lara Croft and Maxx sets are my old stuff, along with a few more of those character cards. I had one of the Ballistic sets that someone else did, it was very good. I've never seen the other Special sets. After i'm done I'd like to get a copy of them from you if possible. My gut remembrance of Pitt put him at an 8 Strength but i haven't found any wiki or comic vine knowledge to back that up. With Supreme and Majestic definitely being 8 Strength he might come in at a 7. My gut said 7 S for Impact but the only power description of him I found put him more at a Spider-Man level of 6.
Spartan
Probably a milder generic version of the cyborg we saw in the early WildCAT issues with some specials reflecting a few of his 'incarnations' (art is hard to come by).
A couple things i noticed when putting together the Special code list. Image has no Negates and no cards that deal with battlesites.
i don't know why, but only marvel got negates, even character that definitely should have had negates (mr. miracle, one of the super kids, commish..maybe) didn't get negates.
I like image but i've only made three of the characters on your list. I should make a cyblade and a Mr. Majestic...
most of the cards are posted on this site if you search the Custom Cards pages. 1 of each the ones missing from Image locations (legacy) were contained in a version of OPOnline that had homemade cards incorporated into the database. i don't remember who put that out there.
Supreme & Majestic i think both would outrank Maul in strength, even with his greatest Mass Increase. but where you draw the line between 7 & 8 can be subjective. maybe Specials could be crafted to reflect what's not in the grid. i'm curious to see what (if anything) you do with his Mass Decrease into Dr. Jeremy Stone - no more strength, but much higher Intellect. i don't remember him using that option often, but it came in handy when he did.
i believe the cyborg version was Hadrian. much different power grid than the Kohl/Colt or Marlowe versions.
i think the Image set was intended to try out new mechanics and make their characters different from Marvel or DC. (as opposed to DC being short-changed to "maintain" Marvel supremacy.)
I have actually been contemplating Maul for a few days and i think i have a good idea. His grid is going to be 2-5-5-5. His Inherent will read "Each battle before discard phase you may transfer up to 3 pts from Maul's Intellect to Strength (or vice versa) for remainder of battle." Here is my question, Is that too powerful on a 17 pt total character? I'm thinking about adding an additional line that states, "If Maul has a grid value of 8 the only Power cards he may use for defense are that type." (but polished up a little better)
Thoughts?
I'm also thinking of making his Dr Stone and Titanthrope cards only playable (or at least better) if his grid is configured a certain way.
2555 would certainly be a novel approach to Maul! most of what i've seem of him has been in the large form, and very little in smart form, so i'm not sure that he really warrants an 8 Intellect. but i'm no expert on him.
and specials will definitely need to be dealt with in a unique fashion. the two forms have entirely different skill sets.
also, you have Stormwatch on your list above. i've only read the ellis issues, but it seemed to me that most of those characters could be done individually, instead of as a "team" character.
Stormwatch probably could be divided up. Maybe if i find enough nice art or come up with some good ideas. But they are not a comic that i read.
I'd really like to find out what font was used for the titles on the Image set. The capital G is super distinctive but none of the font identifiers online managed to match it. Not even close. I had a font that i thought i liked until I put it on a few cards and i realized it really wasn't that great.
I might try to squeeze Union, Angela, Overlord (Savage Dragon villain), Wildstar, John Lynch and Cyberdata's SHOCs (as a separate character) into the set if i can some up with enough art.
I could use some help with Maxx. I've always had a soft spot for sam kieth's weird art and crazy Maxx stories. But Maxx is kind of hard to translate as a character into overpower. This is what i have currently but am definitely open to suggestions. Claw Spikes, Protector and Vanquisher of Izz I'm pretty satisfied with. I thought about making "rabbit totem" a special that doubles Maxx's specials in venture total but even with duplicate Claw Spike specials that card just isn't good enough.
Maxx 2 6 5 3 16
May have duplicate "Claw Spike" Specials.
Maxx Claw Spikes
Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. May make 1 additional attack. AA
Maxx Julie
Acts as a level 3 Energy, Fighting, Strength, or Intellect attack. Maxx may play 1 additional Special card. JC
Maxx The Outback
Remove 1 Hit from Maxx's Battlesite. KQ
Maxx Protector
Teammate may avoid 1 attack. AD
Maxx Rabbit Totem
Draw 3 cards. Discard duplicates. HQ
Maxx Vanquisher of Izz
Acts as a level 5 Strength attack +1 for each Maxx Special in any character's Permanent Record and Hits From Current Battle. PC
a few random comments...
i like the change of Julie from 5E to 3M.
i can see why you changed Claw Spikes. while your old NT was a higher level attack, duplicates would not provide the secondary benefit. but (justa my opinion, not a negative comment) the AA seems uninspired.
i thought the old Outback was quite effective. especially if Opponent was using a defensive Battlesite (like the Outback?). style more than substance.
Protector is an improvement over the old Spirit Guide. why would the Spirit Guide be protecting a teammate.
at the very beginning of this thread, you mentioned looking for a frame for the specials. you old frame was great! it was the closest thing to the legacy frame that i've ever seen.
and i have no idea on fonts. with my own limited skill set, i don't worry so much about copying the legacy versions as making the cards look presentable enough for posting. (which i failed at doing on my individual "Heralds" characters.)
That old frame was one i picked up that someone else had made. It was close visually but not really very clear.
I'm not sure what the old Outback was.
Here are a couple. For visual design critique, what do you think about font and frame?
Maxx (https://i.imgur.com/iFbBEoB.jpg)
Maxx (https://imgur.com/IlT2Laz)
Maul (https://i.imgur.com/S9QIBvd.jpg)
Maxx - Protector (https://i.imgur.com/EOXVVuI.jpg)
Maxx - Julie (https://i.imgur.com/v8UStuJ.jpg)
EDIT: Actually, I"m not sure that the old Frame was as bad as I thought it was. I may go back to that. It's kind of blurry but at printed size, they aren't too bad. Here's and example with the old frame.
Maxx - Vanquisher Of Izz (https://i.imgur.com/uFkWuhI.jpg)
since you asked, here's a few opinions:
fonts: both character fonts look good. the top Maxx font is more similar to what usually is used. but the Maul font (& second Maxx font) is quite cool - i like the texture within the letters, and it seems to match better with the Special font. it does seem to me that the Maul font should be slightly taller, and possibly thicker (its hard to judge with such a short name). i guess it all depends on your end goals in the design - making it more similar to other cards, or establishing a "style" of your own. (any way to put that texture into the other font?)
frames: you're right; the old frame does looks blurry at higher magnification, but ok at normal size, and it is more similar to the legacy Image frame. the new frame is more like other cards, but it is clearer and cleaner. and i love the addition of the "i" logo behind the card code! mucho style points!
your old Outback: (OPD)[LD] Opponent may not attack or defend with cards from a Battlesite for remainder of battle.
but considering the character & comic story, maybe a non-OPD is more appropriate for that one. what do i know?
additional: from everything i've been able to find, "Izz" should be "Isz".
hope it helps.
Well, i've kept tinkering and think i might like the Image looking frame with the character font that was used in the Marvel cards. Though i did keep the other font for the actual card titles.
How about this one Example (https://i.imgur.com/5SKwThe.jpg)
I think i like the old outback better too. And thank you for the spelling catch.
looks fine. with that font on the Specials, the first Maxx font matches better.
OK. I went back to just the plain Marvel Character Template for my Image set. It looks cleaner and works for me.
Here are the first few Characters I had art for and Stats fairly solidified in my mind. Yes, Impact's is mostly a clone of Colossus but slightly better and slightly cheaper. Ballistic's is Basically Green Arrow. I decided on making Maxx's duplicate card "Protector", It makes him more useful for a low stat character. I had two really nice pieces of art for Maxx's character card so i made two. One is a picture of him in the Outback and one in the "real world". Right now they are just alternate image cards but as i am reading Sam Kieth's new collected recolored version from IDW if i come up with any ideas they may become two different versions of him.
The Youngblood character art was orginally a poster that Jae Lee did for Wizard Magazine back in the day. I found on Deviantart where someone had recolored the pencils. I've always had a soft spot for Jae Lee's dark looking superhero art so i had to use it even though Badrock and Vogue are rather covered up.
The Deathblow Specials are an odd bunch. "And Then You Live" makes "Lone Warrior" more useful in head at least. (Although I've debated making it a OPD like Grunge's, though that might make it too good.) I didn't want to give him an Avoid since I designed him to be a damage sponge that can get resurrected. "Tactical Disengagement" works at odds with "Lone Warrior" but I like it. I"m not sure that the other 3 specials make him useful enough so he may get an Inherent Ability yet after I play around with him.
Ballistic (https://i.imgur.com/48ajudx.jpg) 4 7 5 3 19
May attack the Reserve with Energy Power cards.
Cyblade (https://i.imgur.com/ptcyF3C.jpg) 7 6 3 4 20

Deathblow Lone Warrior (https://i.imgur.com/qlrihot.jpg)
All attacks by opponent's team must be made against Deathblow until Deathblow is K.O.'d or cannot be attacked. KC
Deathblow Sister Mary (https://i.imgur.com/1oln9RL.jpg)
Acts as a level 3 Fighting attack. May make 1 additional Power card attack. Neither attack may be defended with a Special card. JW
Deathblow Tactical Disengagement (https://i.imgur.com/sq4aTyo.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Any-Power attack. If successful, Deathblow may not attack or be attacked for remainder of battle. EH
Deathblow Team 7 (https://i.imgur.com/ZClkImH.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Energy or Fighting attack. May not be defended by a card from a Battlesite. MA
Impact (https://i.imgur.com/g9ZVdo0.jpg) 1 5 7 3 16
May not be Spectrum KO'd with Strength Power cards.
Maul (https://i.imgur.com/UY5piR0.jpg) 1 5 5 5 16
Each battle before discard phase you may transfer up to 3 pts from Maul's Intellect to Strength (or vice versa) for remainder of battle.
Maxx (https://i.imgur.com/L7UjKJX.jpg) OR Maxx (https://i.imgur.com/okG9ohJ.jpg) 2 6 5 3 16
May have duplicate "Protector" Specials.
Youngblood (https://i.imgur.com/yLEXic0.jpg) 4 7 7 3 21
good start.
i'm glad you mentioned the difference between the 2 Maxx character pics. i though 1 was from a comic panel, and the other from cover art or a fan painting/drawing. hope you can come up with a grid or IA difference to make them a little different from each other based on the 2 worlds.
i think Deathblow's Tactical Engagement works quite well with the "Lone/Live" specials tandem. as a OPD, you may have to wait for And Then You Live to come up. "Tactical" provides a chance of a staying action to keep him going (if needed) until "Live" can be implemented. the mechanic matches the name matches the pic matches the strategy for using it. you can't get much better than that!
As soon as i saw that cover art i used for Tactical Disengagement i knew just about what kind of card I wanted it to be. I love those ones where you see a piece of art immediately brings a type of Special to mind. I'm still thinking about Maxx ideas.
In the meantime, Rob Leifeld's Youngblood. Man, Rob really couldn't draw very well (although in the last couple years he seems to have learned some anatomy and the ability to draw feet) and really copied other characters. Shaft was Hawkeye and looked like Shatterstar, Vogue was Black Widow that looked like Domino, Diehard was a cyborg Captain America that looked like Deadpool, and Badrock was a young Thing. Link and Chapel didn't cry out to as direct copies of anyone though. So.... Shaft, Badrock, Vogue and Diehard are direct copies of Hawkeye, Thing, Black Widow and Captain America Specials. ;D
Youngblood Badrock (https://i.imgur.com/g3b2Mh8.jpg)
Acts as a level 10 Strength attack. AS
Youngblood Chapel (https://i.imgur.com/WlVhoY7.jpg)

Youngblood Diehard (https://i.imgur.com/XgD8u4v.jpg)

Youngblood Link (https://i.imgur.com/bkiZ7NB.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Energy attack. If successful, Opponent must reveal all cards playable by Target Character and play them open handed for remainder of battle. RB
Youngblood Shaft (https://i.imgur.com/ivTnudD.jpg)
Acts as a level 2 Fighting attack. If successful, acts as a level 8 Strength Power card. EJ
Youngblood Vogue (https://i.imgur.com/8KfGSa9.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Fighting attack. If successful, target hero may not use cards with Fighting icon for remainder of battle. EL
If I can find a better picture of Link I will switch that one out. Oddly enough, I don't think any of the pieces of art are Rob's. Unless the Diehard or Vogue cards are new drawings of his.
i'm sure you didn't mean it as the pun that it is, but when i clicked on shaft's link, that's exactly what i got. the shaft. ;D
also: Link is Green Goblin's Revelations with an attack value added (makes it a little easier to defend). i think it needs to be BZ instead of a new RB code.
Vogue is Black Widow's Combat Gymnast right down to the "hero" instead of "character". it should be EL instead of GE.
Heh-heh! Didn't mean for you to get the shaft. Fixed that, you should be able to get the Shaft now.
Nice catches on the Vogue card. I'm not sure where that GE code came from, fixed the old wording too. It should be updated now.
Link was inspired as a cross of the BZ and HY cards. I'm going to stick with the RB code since Psylocke has one in my Marvels set already.
Ballistic's Specials. Nothing particularly special here. Mutant Agility and Uncanny Accuracy as titles for a little nod of inspiration since the Cyberforce guys were definitely supposed to be Mutants.
Ballistic Cyberforce (https://i.imgur.com/X0NCV1P.jpg)
Target Character gains +1 to defense for remainder of game. MW
Ballistic Cybernetic Implants (https://i.imgur.com/SlL2q91.jpg)

Ballistic Hi-Tech Arsenal (https://i.imgur.com/5jLSpYV.jpg)

Ballistic Mutant Agility (https://i.imgur.com/zSpeZfK.jpg)

Ballistic Uncanny Accuracy (https://i.imgur.com/ciasvvN.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Intellect attack. May be used against opponent in Reserve, who may defend. AN
i thought that cat Shaft was bad motha, but i'll shut my mouth. can ya dig it? ::)
definitely an anti-Reserve flavor to Ballistic.
I had previously done some Brass cards. Some of these are the same I think but some have changed. Curse gets one additional card.
Brass Brass Virus (https://i.imgur.com/IieaYGE.jpg)
Target teammate may play any Brass Special cards for remainder of game. MF
Brass Internal Infection (https://i.imgur.com/zEFpY0j.jpg)

Brass Unleash Arsenal (https://i.imgur.com/6Eb4gvY.jpg)
Brass may attack with any Special cards or Power cards in Hand for remainder of battle. JR
Curse Minions (https://i.imgur.com/cnXa8Ed.jpg)
Acts as a level 2 Strength attack. May make 2 additional attacks. DG
Brass Virus is the only old one 1 i had of those - the new art is an improvement.
i think Internal Infection has an internal infection. ??? link problem again.
Fixed the link.
What do you think of this as a Special. "Target character, opponent must reveal 3 cards playable by target. Discard 1, place 1 in Draw Pile and return 1 to Hand."
1st takes:
- beginning wording could just be "Target Character must reveal...". obviously the opponent is doing the actual revealing. the "target"ing is to make the attack "avoid"able.
- the choice of which cards go where should be specified. its less damaging if the defender chooses instead of the attacker.
- the order of the actions taken would need to be established, to account for what occurs in the case where opponent has less than 3 cards that are playable by targeted character.
- you're basically making opponent discard 2 from hand, so it should be an OPD. that becomes a weaker form of OC, so why bother.
- i don't see a viable way to make it non-OPD with the given mechanics.
all that being said, only play testing will say for sure if its worth it or not.
Thank you! I wanted to make it work but it just didn't feel right. Your comments verify that.
Which of these should i go with for the art? It was a pain trying to find a Wetworks team picture where they were spaced correctly to fit on a character card.
https://i.imgur.com/rLuY6N4.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/cuM5RW7.jpg
Major bonus points if anyone knows where the second piece of art came from without consulting google.
i have no idea where the art came from.
unfortunately, i don't think either card looks that great as a character card. if i had to choose one , i guess it would be the first one for better resolution and less blockage. this is good example of why deleting the icon names from the character card makes things easier for the card designer, and helps show off decent art better. i won't belabor the point, because i know from previous discussion that you don't want to go that route.
so, to suggest an alternative solution: use the DC hologram character cards as a template, and a picture like this one. https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/1/10837/5269825-wetworks+wildstorm.jpg (https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/1/10837/5269825-wetworks+wildstorm.jpg)
icons to the side with no Power type names. IA (if there is one) on the bottom. DC put the character name at bottom with the IA, but i've seen a similar design that put the name at the top (with no shaded strip blocking the art) and it looked quite good.
(i slid this pic into a vertical template i made in Visio (not Imgur), and the above picture fits great. the only icon blockage is the big gun on the right, and there's enough room at the top & bottom to fit the name without losing anybody.)
hope this is of some help.
It's been a little while since I've worked on the Image cards but I've been busy lately.
I am going to do an alternative set of character cards based on justa's suggestions. Some of the art wasn't fitting to well on the regular template. But for now everything will be on the regular template.

3 new characters to choose from - great! i'll have to do some reading to "learn-up" on them.
best card: Lara's AQ - nice addition for her over the old set (3 were them same). i see the IA and specials that refer to Tactic cards to really mean Artifact cards.
most questionable card: Impact's AD. how does his skin alloy translate into protecting teammate? i guess it could if he was sheltering another character, but the art doesn't show it. nothing "wrong", just got me thinking.
Good point, i originally had a picture with bullets bouncing off of Impact but it was too small and couldn't be cleaned up enough to look well. I went with that one since it looks good and he looks like he is saving his teammate from being crushed.
Impact's bio read is interesting, a little more wild than the standard Cyberforc bio. The SHOCs were the bad guys who clashed with Cyberforce, enforcers for the evil Cyberdata corporation. In fact all the Cyberforce members used to be SHOCs at one point. I actually want to make a Cyberdata character set too. Just need to find something i can use for the Character card. I picked up the Cyberforce: Rebirth comics from a few years ago since the original collections are out of print but they were a complete re-imagining and not very useful.
Wetworks, i must confess i have never read an issue of.
I figured Lara needed some kind of bite, so the AQ.
fair enough

quite the unique version of Spartan! at only 18 points, he should be easy to build a team around, or add into a team with others. looks good.
Thanks, I was having trouble placing his levels so I went with Hydra as inspiration for his starting design.
One more WildC.A.T.
Warblade 4 7 4 3 18 (https://i.imgur.com/4RZEiFc.jpg)
Attacks made with Fighting Power cards are not affected by Special cards already in play.
Warblade Biomorphic Blade (https://i.imgur.com/hKcKT74.jpg)

Warblade WildC.A.T. (https://i.imgur.com/phA0wu2.jpg)

hey, it's the Cutlery Kid - popular patron of porterhouse purveyors and steakhouses everywhere! :D
i had your old versions of both "Razor's" and "Slash", though only the names are the same now. yours are the only Specials i've ever seen made for Warblade.
Sweet, I think I've got another new one in this update.
First, to finish of the WildC.A.T.s (not planning on Void or Emp)
Updated art from my first draft of his Character Card. And Justa's comment made sense, I don't think he really is a 8 Intellect so I moved a point from his Intellect to Energy so now he maxes out at a 7 Intellect if you bump him that way. His Specials are a little divided.
Maul 2 5 5 4 16 (https://i.imgur.com/X3tuGl7.jpg)
Each battle before discard phase you may transfer up to 3 pts from Maul's Intellect to Strength (or vice versa) for remainder of battle.
Maul Dr Stone (https://i.imgur.com/Vaf25qn.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Intellect attack. If successful, Maul may sort through Draw Pile, select any Aspect card and play it immediately. Reshuffle Draw Pile.
Why he has Underwear and gloves on I cannot figure out.
Maul Enraged Titan (https://i.imgur.com/GwtStjr.jpg)
Acts as a level 10 Energy, Fighting or Strength attack. If successful, Maul may not use cards with an Intellect Icon for remainder of game.
Maul Mass Increase (https://i.imgur.com/tdC7gUC.jpg)
Maul's Strength Power cards are +2 for remainder of battle.
Maul Slap Down (https://i.imgur.com/4s2wzbY.jpg)
Acts as a level 2 Fighting attack. If successful, acts as a level 8 Strength Power card.
Maul Titanthrope (https://i.imgur.com/i4DhBUF.jpg)
Acts as a level 8 Any-Power attack. Does not count toward Spectrum K.O.
Maul WildC.A.T. (https://i.imgur.com/ykwr1Uh.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Strength Power card. May only be used to defend. May defend Maul or teammate.
Of course with 6 WildC.A.T. characters completed now we need a location to tie them together. To my surprise when i started adding up the totals you can build any iteration of the team under points (if I counted right). So I gave them a positive Inherent emphasizing teamwork.
Halo Corp (https://i.imgur.com/jgIzOR6.jpg)
Grifter
Maul
Spartan
Voodoo
Warblade
Zealot
Halo Corp team is +2 to Venture total each battle for every Special card entitled WildC.A.T. played that battle.
Don't know that his guy has made an Overpower appearance before. Seem's he is quite the villain over at DC now after the Wildstorm/DC merger, slapping Superman around. But he was the main bad guy when the WildC.A.T.s first started out. I'd like to add a few more Wildstorm bad guys too hopefully. Probably a Daemonite (team character) and hopefully Pike and maybe the Cabal.
Helspont 7 3 7 5 22 (https://i.imgur.com/AAr93kM.jpg)
Helspont Acurian Body (https://i.imgur.com/XMJP7yS.jpg)
Helspont cannot be Spectrum KO'd for remainder of game.
Helspont Daemonite High Lord (https://i.imgur.com/R56GZ5O.jpg)
Acts as a level 3 Intellect attack. Each Front Line teammate may make 1 additional attack.
I appreciated justa's comments on specials that refer only to Activator cards of your opponent's , they are useless if your opponent is packing Any Character Specials so i made this one versatile.
Helspont Long Range Plans (https://i.imgur.com/PkvWQT5.jpg)
Play during battle. Next Battle, opponent may not play any Activator or "Any Hero/Character" cards.
Helspont Pyrokinesis (https://i.imgur.com/6C5CUxK.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Energy or Strength attack.
Helspont Reunification (https://i.imgur.com/Y96Q5t2.jpg)
Both players reshuffle their Dead Pile and Power Pack into their Draw Pile.
Helspont Telepathic Attack (https://i.imgur.com/ZIOqJSs.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Energy attack. If successful, opponent must reveal any cards playable by target character and play them open handed for remainder of battle.
your old specials for Maul were again the only ones i've ever seen. the new grid does feel better, but as i said, i'm no expert on Image characters (or anything else, for that matter.
your mechanic for Enraged Titan seems a little chancy. it shuts Maul down from using his own Dr Stone special, plus lock him into being a Strength character. while it is quite appropriate for him as is, i might have limited it to Power cards with an Intellect icon. and despite the undies, that's a cool piece of a...rt.
i think Titanthrope should be HN, not HC.
Halo Corp has the same line-up as an old WildC.A.T.S. location i found years ago. thanks for making it a "location" and not just a "team". (your IA is more imaginative, too.)
from all the cards i've seen over the years, your Helspont is the first and only version. more reading for me to catch up on!
Thanks man. Good catch on the Titanthrope card. I'll get that fixed next time I'm making Specials. As to the "Enraged Titan", you are probably correct. But i think i'm going to leave it because of the thematicness of it. Since I didn't make any special that required Maul to be smart to play like i was originally planning I think Enraged Titan is balanced out by not being able to play Dr Stone. Though I might bump it to an 11 like Zealot's Special.
I need help. I've been tinkering with locations.
1st Cyberforce. I have the art. 1st problem, 7 characters. Team can be over grid totals.
Ballistic (19) 7F
Cyblade (20) 7E 6F
Heatwave (21) 6E 6F
Impact (16) 7S
Ripclaw (20) 7F
Stryker (20) 7F 6S
Velocity (16) 6E
(Cyblade could probably have a 7F and Heatwave a 7E)
Possibilities, Ballistic didn't join til a few issues in, first she was bad, leave her off. Much later Impact got killed, leave him off. Or list all 7. That's what i'm leaning toward now. They are already over grid total possibly when you build a team so get a negative inherent. I don't think 7 choices makes much of a difference for homebase. For battlesite, I'm thinking just carry the negative inherent over to that also.
Thoughts?
GEN13
Burnout (16) 7E
Fairchild (17) 7S
Freefall (16) 6E
Grunge (17) 6E
John Lynch (??) F&E at least 6 High Intellect
Rainmaker (17) 7E
This team comes out under grid total no matter how you make it, so they should probably get a positive inherent. I have no ideas yet. Any?
thoughts:
Maul: i do like Enraged Titan as it is, i just would never have the balls to build that card in the first place. i might suggest lower it to 9, and changing ROG to ROB, but that would also open it up to the "9 or less" avoids. as always, you cards, your call.
Cyberforce: interesting dilemma. i have seen locations with more than 6 characters (and less than 6). hell, my Knowhere: Guardian Support location has 14 characters as a Battlesite, and 20 as a Homebase! 7 characters is not that far off the beaten path. a negative IA is not mandatory, however. several legacy locations allow teams of greater than 76 without one. i certainly would not give them anything to benefit energy or fighting, as these are their strong suits. and you can always limit the total team cost to prevent abuse. to the best of my knowledge, IAs on Battlesites don't affect play in any way unless specifically stated on the location card (again, see Knowhere GS). go with your gut on this one. (maybe something to do with "Cyberforce" specials? similar to what you did with the WildCATS on Halo Corp, but not the same.)
Gen 13: i think Lynch would be F&I, not E, but again, i'm no expert. given the disparate grids of the characters, maybe something similar to the legacy Danger Room location? i don't think copying it "exactly" would be quite enough for this team, but it might be a start.
Yeah, Lynch could very well go F-I. That's why I haven't tried to create him yet, I'm just not sure what i want to do.
As for the Cyberforce location, I was originally thinking about making an inherent where each character got +1 to their Hits to KO for each Cyberforce Special in play. Not a big advantage but a little bit.
The inherents from the legacy locations confuse me. I should really sit down and make a spreadsheet of all of them to try and figure out the logic behind them. Can you point me at a couple that let you build an over grid total team but don't have negative inherents? I'm sticking the two locations on the back burner for now.
In the meantime......
I have to admit, I've never read any spawn comics, and i left this guy off of my original list of Image characters i was going to do. However, he appears on the Spawn's Alley Location so i figured i should include him. I know he appears on the 8 Strength card in the Image set but i don't really think he is an 8 Strength, especially with Maul, Majestic and Supreme in my set. So he's coming in at 7 Strength with a really nice inherent.
Cy-Gor 3 4 7 2 16 (https://i.imgur.com/qBodDCL.jpg)
Cy-Gor's team is +5 to Venture Total when opponent's character is KO'd.
Avatar Of Death (https://i.imgur.com/06GmDjo.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Intellect attack. If successful and Target has Hits totaling 15 or more, then Target is KO'd regardless of Inherent Abilities and other Special cards.
Beast Mode (https://i.imgur.com/X52hV39.jpg)
Only Cy-Gor and Target Character may attack, be attacked or defend this battle. Neither player may concede this battle.
Cybernetic Gorilla (https://i.imgur.com/eZaN4uf.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Energy or Strength attack. May make 1 additional attack.
Frankenstein Creation (https://i.imgur.com/ZRZdYSm.jpg)
Play with any Basic Universe card. Cy-Gor's Power Grid gets Bonus in that Power Type for remainder of game.
Project SIM (https://i.imgur.com/2EHEqkG.jpg)
Play during battle. In the battle that Cy-Gor is KO'd, Cy-Gor may continue to fight and are not discarded until the end of the battle.
I couldn't resist using this image when i found it.
Rampage (https://i.imgur.com/fiHC9sD.jpg)
Acts as a level 8 Strength attack. If successful, target character must immediately discard 1 placed card
on Cy-gor: i've only seen 1 other version of him. it was from the OPOnline version that had the homemade cards added into it, but i don't know who put them there. your grid is MUCH different. i'm not much of an Image reader either. from the little i've learned about Cy-gor, his agility & speed seems to earn more than a 3 in Fighting, and he could rig up explosives, so 2 Intellect seems a little low. but the IA is a killer, and the cost is wicked low. on the Specials:
sorry to be a wet blanket, but Cybernetic Gorilla should be a GJ, not GI.
Frankenstein Creation would be much more effective if his Power grid "increased by the Universe card bonus" rather than "grid gains a bonus". unless specifically stated, i don't believe a "bonus" counts toward damage or VT, and doesn't affect card usage. (i know that while i'm not a fan of the basic U as is, you are trying to make them more attractive to use.) this Special puts you down 2 cards with only a bonus - no attack, no defense, no VT gain, no increased grid; pretty much nothing to warrant using it.
on the research project you requested (>76 point teams from locations that do not have a negative IA): i had time, so what the hey? i only did legacy locations with legacy characters to keep the search reasonable. (you'll have to look up the IAs on the cards; overpower.ca has them all if you need them. i can't do it all for you.) here's a bunch of examples:
Asteroid M: Magneto, Mystique, Quicksilver, & either Scarlet Witch or Rogue
Avenger's Mansion: Thor, Vision, Black Widow, & Captain America
Concrete Jungle: New Warriors, Daredevil, & any 2 of Punisher, Serpent Society, & Silver Sable
Danger Room: Bishop, Gambit, Beast, & Angel (Horseman of Apocalypse or The Fallen)
Department H: Alpha Flight, Omega Red, & any 2 of Maverick, Sabretooth, & Wolverine
Fall's Edge Compound: Mystique, Forge, Sabretooth, & Havok
Hellicarrier (legacy typo & all): Black Widow, Nick Fury, Red Skull, & Captain America
Landau, Luckman, & Lake: Wolverine, Venom, Psylocke, Captain America
Latveria: Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Invisible Woman, & Human Torch
Madripor: Psylocke, Omega Red, & any 2 of Hand, Mandarin, & Wolverine
Outback: Reavers, Wolverine, Sentinels, & Longshot
Ravencroft: Doctor Octopus, Hobgoblin, Mysterio, & Green Goblin
Ship: Apocalypse, Cyclops, Beast, & Jean Grey: Dark Phoenix
Stark Enterprises: Iron Man, Captain America, War Machine, & Spiderwoman
X Mansion: Cable, Jean Grey: Dark Phoenix, Cyclops, & Domino
X World: Storm: Bloodstorm, Beast, Havok, & Goblyn Queen
besides grid total & thematic reasons (which was probably not much taken into account for legacy cards), there's also team traits & team cohesion (similar power types). things like: are the power grids similar or varied?; is there a major weakness in a particular power type?; are the characters lacking in defense?; & probably tons of things that don't come readily to mind at the moment. there's not much logic in the legacy location IAs that i could ever determine. it's more of a hit or miss, go with your gut, & feel your way along kind of thing. have some fun with it! :D
Those stats were a guess, i am quite willing to modify, how about 3-4-7-3?
That's the same code i messed up before isn't it? ::) oops.
For the KN codes i think they do alter the actual grid. Look at meta rule #115 here (https://overpower.ca/meta/KN).
And Thank you so much! I didn't expect you to do that but thanks! I'm not sure I've figured anything out from it yet but it's nice to have.
as i said, i'm not familiar enough with Cygor to really recommend his stats, i only did some reading on him. what was done before (2585) was just that person's interpretation. your version is your interpretation. its all good.
thank you for showing me my error on the KN special. Absorbing Man's Molecular Mimic becomes worth playing now.
you're welcome for the list. i had plenty of time, and it sounded like a fun thing to do at the time. i think if i included all homemade locations & characters, i'd still be working at it! ;D
I tweaked Cy-Gor to 3-4-7-2 and updated the post. (I left him at 2 Intellect because the wiki article described his mind as 80% gorilla, 20% human when he first decanted. ) Also updated the two miscoded specials that justa caught for me.
One addition for today. A Savage Dragon villain. I didn't read more than a few of the first issues of the Savage Dragon but this was the guy that I remembered. I'm going to try to add enough Savage Dragon characters that I can make a Chicago location for him. I discovered that Larsen's comic is the longest running color comic by a single author/illustrator. I've got plans for Overlord (villain), Superpatriot, and FreakForce (team character). Haven't decided on the 6th. Trying to stick with characters from the beginning of the series.

Mako Terrifying Visage (https://i.imgur.com/lxOw7NL.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Intellect attack. If successful, Target Character may not play Activator cards for remainder of battle.
another "new" character for OP! i don't know him, so i can't comment much. he looks the Image version of DC's King Shark. but where Mako is a Man-Shark (or Shark-Man, either way), Nanuae is a "*&^%$#@ sharrrrrrrrk"!
(great one in there - "disarming"... gotta love it!)
I was particularly proud of the Disarming Attack. ;)
Yeah, I was actually looking at pictures of King Shark from the CW shows when i was looking for art for his character card. That would be a fan art of the DC character that I ended up using. I trimmed the fins off of his back and arms with photoshop and it was close enough to Mako for me.
i couldn't tell, so good job on that.
Thanks!
Got distracted by a side project. I was looking at what cards i was missing. Mostly it is OPD Specials from the Image set. They are crazy priced on ebay now. No way am i ever completing my set! I figured at $25-$50 bucks for these cards other people might want some decent looking proxies too. So I started doing some 'reprints' of some of the more rare cards to add into my set.
In case anybody else wants them....

Are you going to make new Witchblade cards?
Probably just a reprint for The Chosen and add 1 new card. Looks like Energy Wrath can be picked up for $5 on ebay. I was mostly only doing the ones that were $20 or more. I just hadn't quite finished them yet.
Edit:
Added 1 Witchblade, 1 Voodoo, 2 Wynonna Earp and fixed the Killrazor card in the post above.
i'm not a fan of reprints, but i like the art for the Darkness card.
I'm not a big fan of them either, but I can buy a whole boardgame for the price of one of most of those cards.
I've been trying to find a decent image for my cyberdata character card. I think i found one that will work but I'm going to have to pick up the Top Cow Bible off of amazon. There is a really nice collage that would look for cyberdata on their page in the book but all the PDF pages have watermarks. Once i get that I should have the Cyberdata specials done pretty quick.
I"m also having trouble finding art for the other gen13 kids that's not a swimsuit pinup. Working on mr majestic but I may take a break and go back to Cosmic Marvel or DC4.
good luck! i'm looking forward to it.
i really can sympathize with your situation. i had a few more ideas for my DC characters, but i either couldn't find enough of the right art for them, or i couldn't decide what to do with them (Vixen & Mr. Terrific fell into the 2nd category).
Yup, sometimes it's just a pain finding good artwork for cards.
Small update. Finished some Character cards for the Image set. Still working on Special cards for each of these guys.

very interesting IA for Freefall. not sure of how appropriate it is for her, but i can't wait to see her specials (& the others as well).
i can't say i like Mr Majestic's grid, though. i think shooting energy beams from his eyes & hands would rate greater than a 3. i do agree with the total cost of 23. he's Image's version of Superman, but smarter.
all new characters again! kudos to you, fennshysa - few besides you have expanded Image OP at all.
Freefall's Inherent was supposed to be a way to represent her levitating abilities. Your question gave me an idea though, I'm going to change it to say the "bottom cards". That seems a little more appropriate.
Mr Majestic was an odd character to do. Really he is probably a 7-7-8-7. I was trying to decide what to trim, I didn't really remember him using his Energy abilities in the few issues i read with him in it so I trimmed the Energy. I suppose i could make him a 6-3-8-6 and come closer but I really wanted the 8S 7I. Maybe an AY special?
Specials may be a while coming.

that could work. i hesitate to get to too specific, as they are your cards, and i have no intentions on doing him. but to maintain your stated "vision", i suppose you could go with 7187 with the AY in Fighting. that would get him there. it might not be too much if the specials aren't too overwhelming.
and i have to take back what i said earlier. chuu & a few others have had some Image characters.
I am tabling Mr Majestic for now. Can't really decide what i want to do with him.
On a happy note, I found 4 nice new images for Freefall and her Special set went together easily. I built off of her Inherent (which I changed a bit) and am pretty happy with it.
Freefall 6 4 3 3 16 (https://i.imgur.com/jAhlfFM.jpg)

I had to find a way to use this picture. It seemed very much in the spirit of Gen13.
Freefall Weightless (https://i.imgur.com/l2xOrar.jpg)
Draw the top cards of your Power Pack and Draw Pile. May keep duplicates. Opponent must discard the top card of their Draw Pile if you did not draw any duplicates.

Target Character must return all placed cards to their Hand.
nifty new mechanic for Gravitikinesis. wish i had thought of it. much useful, but not overpowering. Zero-G the same, though that one could backfire on you.
i think Weightless needs to be OPD. it's allowing you to draw 2 cards & keep duplicates (regardless of the Opponent discard addition). even the "draw 1 - keep if dupe" got OPD'd.
Yeah, Zero-G is kind of useful. It helps you later more than now.
I see 2 nice options for it's offensive use. First it might draw out a negate and second you could do that then concede.
I partially agree with you on Weightless. I actually didn't quite like it when i was putting it together. I don't think the draw 2 keep duplicates is too much for a non OPD split between the piles. You've got the JA that discards 1 and draws 4 and keeps duplicates and the OE that gets 3 from Power Pack. They are OPD but 1 card from Draw Pile and 1 From PP shouldn't be too much on Freefall at least. The last part has to go though if I want to keep it from being OPD.
The other option might be to draw 2, discard duplicates, (which Freefall's Inherent should help prevent) and make the secondary clause be if she does discard a duplicate then opponent must return 1 card from hand to Draw Pile (not discard).
still looks like a OPD. i felt i was pushing it for my Shadow Resources for the League of Assassins. drawing 2 cards, whether you keep dupes or not (and yes, i considered that she would probable know what they were), seems like it has to be an OPD. maybe if you put 1 in hand, the other to (Dead Pile, Power Pack, Draw Pile, whatever), might work for a non-OPD. and yeah, maybe losing the last part might help keep it from being OPD. i'd probably want to specify may not be a dupe, since you should know what at least 1 of them is. that would keep it from being an automatic advantage. maybe draw top 1 from either but not both, banking on the knowledge that she knows both, and specifying that it may not be a dupe. as always, it's your call - they're your cards.
edit: after seeing OP3's Prehensile Strands, i guess i should back off a little on this one. how about this for an idea to keep it non-OPD - draw top from each pile (you will know at least 1 of the cards), discard dupes, if you discard opponent discards as well. ??
or better yet, just leave it as it is. it works very well - maybe too well - but it works.

I'm thinking that will be the best option. Thanks!
