There's an open discussion going on the Facebook page about it but I'd figure it would be beneficial to post it here too.
I was able to determine what fonts that Marvel/Fleer used when creating the cards. These are probably not the exact fonts but close enough.

It looks like the Futura ND Bold Oblique is used for the newer cards, the older cards use something else. I'll find it eventually.

And it looks like Future Bold Oblique is used for the Specials' text from the first few sets.

Did some quick hunting for some fonts tonight; Myriad Pro or something in the family is what they used for the ENERGY/FIGHTING/STRENGTH/INTELLECT font on characters.
Any idea what font is used on the Double Shot cards, which reads:
"MUST COMBINE WITH ENERGY POWER CARD LEVEL 1 THOUGH 4 FOR A SINGLE ATTACK OR DEFENSE."
Would be good to find out, since keen on making my own Double Shots.
Good Deal! I knew you had found the fonts but I never thought to ask specifically what they were but now that I've seen this I'm feeling pretty good about some customs.
Guys, did a little more research for fonts:
The font for the character names is Frutiger Pro 95. You will need to manually condense the letters to match, but is definitely the closest match that I've found yet.
Hopefully this will help the custom card making group.
The font used for TACTIC in the bottom left corner is pretty close to Shortwave Gothic Medium, but the letter A is not EXACTLY the same.
great thread, and glad to have the info...now just wish the fonts didnt cost so much!! :(
Found more fonts.
One Per Deck and the 2 letter code is part of the Swiss 721 family (Black Condensed and Light Condensed)
The name of the special is Optima Bold or somewhere in that family. It can also be Zurich Bold Extended if it's from the first few sets.
Does anyone have some E/F/S/I icon templates and cool border templates posted or that they can post? It would be a HUGE help!
I'll post up the icons I used for the Marvels set when the Downloads section of the website is revamped. Hopefully that should be by Thursday night.
Sweeet, thanks Jack. Do you what font was used for the special card and character names for the Absolute Evil set on the justabgkid emporium?
Those aren't mine so I have no idea.
Bios, what font did you use for the card text in your Avengers Assemble set?
Is there a thread that gives a step by step how to make a homemade OP card, and the program we could use to make them? I used Paint Shop Pro for all of mine, and while they turned out okay, I used my own fonts and such... I never could make them look like regular OP cards, but they did look nice and official. I even gave my specials for some newer characters a blue border instead of yellow... trying something new. But I would love to learn how to make homemades as pretty as The Marvels.
The best program to use is Photoshop. Listed on this thread is the names of a lot of the fonts you would want and what part of the card they are used for. A lot of people don't use all the "official" fonts for everything (myself included)
The best step by step I can give is to:
1. Get Photoshop
2. Use it to make a card border template
3. Pick the fonts you would like to use for each piece of the card
4. Get the E/F/S/I and any power icon templates (hardest part)
5. Find pics you would like to use for your cards.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm def not an expert, you know.
does this help?
I don't know how to use photoshop. I used PaintShopPro to make all of my cards, and got fairly proficient with it. I wish I could post my cards for feedback... I don't think they look bad myself. I'll try to work on that. I can email someone the pics and they can post them for me... any volunteers?
Fo Sho. Perfect! What is the font used for inherent abilities? Anyone know?

just use photobucket or flickr
I can't from the computer for some reason. They don't respond. This thing is bogged down with so many icons and junk, and her kids use it as well, and they click every pop up that flashes or has a smiley face on it. This thing runs so slow, the turtle could take a nap and still win the race.
zip them and email them to me at shotokyokugen@gmail.com - overpower in the subject line.
awh man... how do I zip them? I'm a total buffoon.

Guys, what is the font used for the character names on location cards? Thanks
Classic, xmen or image?
Classic is preferable. Thanks
Hey gang, does anyone who knows photoshop know how to get the top alignment for location card names? Im having trouble getting my names to go straight across the top edge. Thanks a lot.

Is there an up to date font pack of all OP fonts that someone can link me/email me? I think only one was missing before, was it ever found?
I can do another round up sometime next week.
Thanks, trying to rebuild some stuff from my old harddrive. Any exciting new font developments? If I remember correctly, pretty much everything was accounted for in the old font pack...but I seem to remember having something off about a font for DC hero card text. Like I couldn't get the kerning to match the DC hero card without doing a bunch of manual tweaking.
It's been a while but I should have the pack of fonts from The Marvels, the One Per Deck should be proper now (pre X-Men), as well as the Special cards' name.
I've been doing some logo parody work and I've noticed that companies will change the kerning a lot to get a certain feel for their text. It could be true that DC's character cards are done in a similar fashion but I would imagine it'd be a tedious task to manipulate each one.
Oh you found Fiendstar (I think that's the one for the special card name)? Awesome. And yeah, doing it manually was incredibly tedious and there isn't really any way to automate it. Does your font access include the DC stuff?
Either way, looking forward to downloading it whenever you get a chance to round it all up, no rush.
I was a bit off with Fiendstar, notice that the B is not lined up properly. Plus Fiendstar was created in 2005/6 and clearly newer than OverPower.
No DC/Image stuff since the priorities were to gather fonts for The Marvels project.
The Special card name font is from the Swiss 721 family (http://myfonts.us/td-LqBINy). I'll have more info and a link next week when I'm occupied with OverPower starting from Tuesday.
I found the DC font before, so I'm sure I can do it again. If/when I find it, I'm gonna try to have a friend with font making software see if the kerning issue can be fixed or at least made less obvious. That should make it at least a little more usable to everyone, but it will still probably be fidgety.
Corrections..
Swiss 721 BT is what I used for the One Per Deck/attribution line/Special Code for The Marvels. Black Condensed for OPD, Light Condensed for the other two.
The special text is a font called Optima.
I have a font called Quebec for some reason, not sure why it's there but I probably used it somewhere.
Link via PM to you Onslaught.
This thead looks very interesting.
Any clue about Locations fonts?
Most use the Rundfunk Plain font.

I might have found a replacement for the ENERGY/FIGHTING/STRENGTH/INTELLECT typeface:
http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/dtptypes/delargo-dt/semi-bold/
Though, I don't seem to have access to it.
Fiendstar is the probable candidate, but the design date of 2006 skews that assumption.
Humanist 777 Bold is pretty solid now.

There should be no more questions about which fonts I used, unless I update them.

I bet there is ;) lol
Does anyone still have any of these font files on their computer?
I was also wondering if anyone would be willing to provide the above font? Please? ;)
