Title: worst team in overpower
Post by: breadmaster on May 10, 2011, 05:51:03 PM
so i've been building alot of theme decks lately, and this is one i've tried out (actually maganged a win with warlock in reserve!)

but the team was still too good.  i'm thinking warlock is a must, at 23 points and no specials.  i'm leaning towards apocalypse for a teammate; another 23 points, and lean on good specials.

could use some suggestions for the remaining 21 points for 2 3 staters (don't want to use x-babies...too good)

I'd suggest Rogue: Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

nothing, eh?

shall i assume then, that you were simply being disagreeable, and nothing is in fact wrong with rogue: brotherhood?

I'd say Rouge:  Brotherhood is pretty bad if you consider that for only one point less than her regular hero card you go from a max 7 to a max 6 in a different power type and her IA goes from being pretty good to only being somewhat useful.  It may just be me, but I'm far more afraid of all the multi-power special cards spectrum KOing my characters than a cumulative KO.

I actually think Rogue:BOEM is a great counterpart to the regular Rogue. I love that she has a different main skill type. While she's only 1 point cheaper, and loses the 7, there are still lots of needs for a 16-pointer.

In terms of her Inherent, I think the 2nd one may be more useful to a max-6 character. Most of the spectrum Specials are 6 or less, allowing for Power card blocking. If you come at a max-6 with a Lv.9 AS... that's tough. Helpful if the "9" part of it "doesn't count".

I think, generally speaking, her regular character is probably better, all around, but it's not like BOEM is bad. In terms of the 16 pointers, she has some of the best offense around and she still has a good Inherent to go with it.

for me, it was also a matter of homebase.  i'd agree, that all things being equal, rogue is better, but brotherhood's 6e fits in nicely with the asteroid m deck.

For Asteroid M, sure, she works well, but otherwise, I'd rather have Xaos or Jean Grey.

Xaos and Jean are both good max-7, 16-pointers, but they lack umph on offense. Also, what if you already have Jean and Xaos on the team?! o.O

Well, if you already have Xaos and Jean, you have plenty of room for pretty much any other characters you want.  I know Xaos is weak on offense, but very good defense.  Jean has the 9S which is just as good as Rouge's 9F.  Plus, I've always had a soft spot for Jean in general but particularly in Overpower.  Her Mind Over Matter card is one that I have always really liked.  I realize it is not at all a unique card, but the way it fits the character was always really nice.  I really feel like Rouge was not done as well.  Like, why doesn't she have a special like "Acts as a level 6 energy attack, if successful, immediately play any special usable by that character from opponent's dead pile."
