I opened up a box of monumental yesterday which started out great with a Bastion in the second pack but as I went through the rest of that stack i only got one hero card. I was amazed one hero in a quater of a box I open up a few more packs and at pack I got a Adam Warlock. All and all it was a great box and I barely had any cards from that series before but I only end up with like 8 or 9 heroes so I was wondering did they not put to many out in the boosters since they had random starter decks and are there any characters you can't find in the starter decks.
There's probably only 6 of the 22 that you can't get from starters. It's been a while since I cracked open some Monumental starters but Adam Warlock would be one of them. Guessing Dark Beast, Holocaust, Onslaught, Post, Doppelganger would round out the remaining since they don't have any specials.
Got all of 'em except Dark Beast, Post, Doppelganger, The Hand. so i guess theres another box of boosters in my future thanks.
I just recently picked up a box of Monumental as well. The set is pretty light on the hero cards for sure. I've got a box of starters though, so it's not too much of a problem except for the reprints. I was mainly buying it for the locations though and I got a complete set and a bunch of duplicates.
I need to get another box as well. I've bought one, plus two starters and 15 loose packs I think. I'm missing around 25 cards. It'd probably be cheaper to just buy the cards I need, but I love opening packs. Plus, it's one of the cheaper boxes out there, so I can justify it.
I wanted to bump up this thread since I have new information about the distribution of cards in Monumental.
Location cards: Everything except Marvel Universe and Marvel Manhatten was found in Boosters. Marvel Universe and Marvel Manhatten were only found in Starters. Notice how I bolded the e's, that's how they were printed off on the cards but Manhattan has an a.
Character cards: I was right about 6/22 being Boosters only. The other 16 were found in both Boosters and Starters.
Doubleshot cards: All were found in Boosters, none came in Starters.
Special cards: 70/118 were found in Boosters. The rest were found in both.
Ally cards: The 5's are available in both. The others were in Boosters.
Event cards: 8 of 23 are available in both. The others were in Boosters.
Teamwork cards: 3/16 are available in both. The rest were only in Boosters.
Power cards: Level 7 and 8 were only in Boosters. The rest were in both.
Mission cards were only found in Starters.
I opened a box of boosters and a box of starters and I remember the pull from the starters ended up being better. I remember none of the starters from other sets being as random as Monumental which made them kinda cool to open. I still have an unopened box of boosters & 2 unopened boxes of starters but I wait till those moments when I need a pick-me-up to open. Like when a loved one dies or when any of my teams lose a championship. :o

jack, how sure are you abount marvel U/M locations only coming in starters?
i only bought one starter deck for monumental. as i was putting away some cards from the tournament recently, i noticed i have 4 marvel Us and 3 marvel Ms. i can't remember the contents of the starter, but i can't see getting 7 in one deck, or see myself trading for so many extras

the missions make sense. iirc, i had to trade to get one of them. now you got me wondering how the heck i wound up with so many of those 2 locations!
The source could be wrong but unless someone opens a pack and sees either of them pulled, I won't dispute it since I can't recall the last MN packs I opened.
