Title: iPhone/Android app
Post by: Demacus on October 09, 2011, 02:16:41 PM
I know I'm reaching out again here, mostly cause I haven't a clue on how to do it myself, but has anyone looked into maybe making an OP Deckbuilder app for the smartphones?

I'm likely going to work on a web app instead of a dedicated app for iPhone/Android. I'm sure if I didn't have school/work I could probably work on it a bit more.

That said, I'm nowhere close to 'done' on the first parts of the site. I think I have a thread up somewhere outlining my goals for the site. It wouldn't be too much work to type it out here:

Login system - so people can create accounts so they can add cards to want/have/trade lists. Also allow to become promoted to meetup organizers so  they can post events. Also allow for creation of decks (importing of decks?) and saving them to the account.
There will be a picture gallery. Miscellaneous pictures, custom cards, meet up pics, etc.
Same with downloads (programs, homemade sets) and videos (mostly Youtube links).
Deck builder - There will be one, it shouldn't be /too/ hard to create after the card searches are done.
Online game - Maybe after graduation...

Sounds like a plan.  Wish I could be of more help, but computers and I don't get along too well.  I just want it to run my programs and it just doesn't want to...  Sometimes we agree, but when we disagree, I wind up finding something else to do.

I only mentioned the smartphone app(s) because, work on Sunday's is REALLY freaking slow, and I've just kinda build 2-3 decks on scraps of paper I found laying around, which I'll translate into the Deckbuilder program when I get home...  :)  I'm almost sure I'm not the only one who's done this.  lol

You're not.  At my old job a favorite past time of mine when I wasn't catching up on TV through Hulu or watching movies through Netflix was building decks in the deck builder.  I made tons of them, though I'm sure only a very small handful of them would have been anywhere near decent.  Still, it was fun picking out a character or two and thinking "ok, how can I make these 2 or 3 characters fit in a deck, and also have something I like/is fun/is good."  So many hours burned doing that.

Some version of OP Online that works on Android would be a dream, even if it's launched through the website and is somehow made compatible with the platform.  I would seriously consider looking into making one myself, but I have absolutely no idea how to code.
