Title: Hi From Maryland
Post by: En Sabah Nur on January 23, 2012, 02:09:28 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am so happy to have found this site, with people still talking about and playing overpower!  I've been a lurker for a couple months reading some awesome and interesting post about rules and deck construction, thought I'd finally join the forum.  My best friend and I recently got back into Overpower after a 10 year break when he got me an unopened boxes of IQ, Powersurge and Monumental off of eBay for my birthday back in august.  We had such a blast opening them and reminiscing that we decided to start playing again, it even got me back into looking to complete my sets, can't keep off of Ebay these days now! :)  Anyways great to be here, look forward to having some great discussions soon.

p.s. Cant belive I had forgotten how good a brand new pack of cards "smell", i know it sounds funny, but someone must know what I mean lol

Welcome!

Always good to have new people. If you use OPO, you might try looking some of us up on MSN for some online fun.

greetings!

the 'smell' thing isn't weird at all

i believe that it's been shown that smell is one of the most powerful senses for triggering memories

I believe that I might have been caught on video sniffing inside the Image packs I opened up a while ago.

Thanks all :) I hope to download OPO sometime this week.  It would be great to play with some people that actually know how to!  My friend and I who I always play with never used events, artifacts, battlesites ect.  Sounds like fun to learn how to play the REAL way!

'Sup! Welcome to the forums. Before I joined the forums I had never used events, artifacts, battlesites, etc. as well. Having downloaded OPO and playing with lots of the patient guys here made me learn how to play them. It did take some getting used to and even now I am still learning all the strange little trick plays they pull on me. LOL

Welcome, welcome!  I know exactly what you mean about the smell of a freshly opened pack.  It's like a little high, especially after all these years.  I used to enjoy that smell back when the game was still thriving :-)  I too am on MSN, but not as often as a lot of these other guys.  Hope to see you on some time!

That's probably my favorite part of opening packs. I'm a little sad that I'll probably never do that again as I think there are very few boxes left out there.

I'm around. I log in to my MSN once in a while to see who's on, but I never see you. Drop me an email if you know you'll be around and if I can I'll log in.

All is well?

I'm online most monday nights. The problem is that I'm in a timezone 4 hours ahead of yours and from the cali boys, so I am probably sleeping when you get online. And mom tells me to go to bed before midnight or I will turn into a pumpkin...

I drop you a line next time. Missing playing against your unique ideas.

I stumbled across this site a few days ago and this is my first post. I live in Northern Virginia and I'd love to play a game either in person or with OPO. I haven't played in about 15 years, and I've never played with OPO (but I did just build a deck), but I've been trying to get back into playing. Toronto is a bit far for a tournament (according to my wife), but maybe we can get something going in the DC or Baltimore area.

Welcome to the forums! OPO is great to finally play with other Overpower players and relearn the game. Hopefully you can run into some of us online and get some games going. It does take a while getting used to it but we have some nice guys here willing to help out.  :) Lots of people on these boards are in the eastern portion of the US and Canada. Me, I'm from California so its hard to be online at the same time because of the time difference.

Welcome All! A few more people show up on the east coast and we will seriously have to look in to organizing a get together somewhere. I wouldn't mind traveling as far as DC if there were enough people.  :D

Well  just an FYI, I represent about 4 guys in the Baltimore Area.  So we've got that.

How many do we need to get interest in a meetup?  I can host somewhere.

My guess, at least 10 definite players.

Is anyone planning on attending the Baltimore Comic-Con on September 8-9? That might be a good time to have a tournament.
