I recently picked up several of the OP Powersurge Figures for a friend of mine (he wanted the cards and I wanted the figures). Basically after I got the figures, we agreed that I would open them, keep the figures, and send him the cards. However, when I opened the packaging the cards are actually taped to the back of the box - Does anyone know if the tape will come right off or if it will damage the cards in any way (since it has been 10+ years since they have been taped to the package)? I put an example of the Adam Warlock Character Card below so you can see what I mean.
Thanks guys.
Peel very slowly, unfortunately for you, the cards you got were face-up (they are normally all face-down I think).

Yeah every single one of them was face up - even the Scarlet Spider (i think thats the one) that usually comes facing the back)......I will peel and pray and see what happens :)
Maybe I got it wrong, it was either normal for them to be face up or down and the other type were rare.
Either way it still sucks ;D
I will probably cross my fingers and give it a shot later today..
My biggest fear isnt so much losing a little bit of a special card in the corner, but the card above would really suck if Warlock lost his face :'(
Just don't rush it, I've had to pull one of them so far and the card wasn't damaged at all.
Just remember to do it slowly and start from one of the acute angles that the tape forms so you get a good start.
Got it! They look great. One of the specials lost a tiny little piece right by the edge (barely noticeable) but otherwise all of them are perfect. There is still a sticky residue left from the tape - any good recommendations on what to use to clean that off that will be safe for the cards?

You might doe a test with other Commons, but I think a tiny bit of Goo Gone on a paper towel should do the trick. My experience with the stuff on other materials has always been good, since it's oil based; however, since the cards are paper in nature, I'm not exactly sure how well that'll work. Like I said, maybe test by taping and removing from another Common from Mission Control (aka,
any card from Mission Control ;D)

That's not a bad idea. I run through goo gone like water at work so I do have plenty of it. My only fear was the potential for "oil marks" that it occassionally leaves. I definitely have enough commons that a cleaning test will be easy.
