So, I'm moving back to WA in a month and my regular OP group is throwing me a little 6-man, double-elim tournament. It will be this Friday at 7, so I'm looking for quick feedback. There will be an overall prize, but also lots of spot-prizes for random tasks (similar to trophy/achievements on PS3/Xbox) :)
Pretty much everything is set, now I just need to decide which deck to use. So, I'm leaving it up to my forum folks. Please vote! I'll use whichever deck comes out on top. I'm not looking to improve these decks. They're all Any Hero decks and they all have lots of flaws. But, these are some of the most fun decks I've used recently, and as usual, I'm not looking for the best deck, but the most fun ;)
E - this deck is using Age Of Apocalypse, with Martyr, Rescue Defeated Missions, No TW, No Str PC, and also Sovrn7. It has lots of card advantage tricks with some defensive tricks, too.
F - this deck is using Into The Depths, with Move 1 Hit, Str PC are No Venture, and Lv.1 Int to Avoid. It has few tricks, but decently high damage output.
S - this deck is using Dark Phoenix Saga, with Reshuffle, Displace PC, and Shift Attacks to Reserve. It has one giant trick, using Viking Pyre, leaving the Reshuffle Event to make it basically risk-free. It also has giant damage potential. Also, since they're all 3-Stat heroes and it's a Max-6 team, it is using lv.0 Power cards.
I - this deck is Muir Island using Shattered Image, with PC Playable by Any, No Negates, No Activators. It's a slight expansion on the Highlander-type build I was using. The only duplicates it has are the Events and I'm running 2 of each level Power Card. So, it has the obvious trick of its Aspect, plus I'm using Pym Particles to draw big hands if I can.
So, now that you have a little more info, please vote! ;D

muir island
i loved that deck so much i tried ripping it off, but couldn't get reliable success out of it
Duly noted, but you gotta vote!! lol
Also, thanks. I loved that deck, too. It was a pretty finicky deck, but when it worked, it was a real blast! Nothing like drawing 10 cards and KNOWING that you'll have ZERO discards ;D As I mentioned above, this one will have some discards here and there, I think, but it will probably fair better overall, since it's only duplicate in the Power Pack (which should mean better defense) and the Events (which are each very helpful to this team).
I know how much you love Gambit, so go Gambit.
;)

You make a very good point. I am, afterall, wearing my Gambit t-shirt as we speak (-er, as I type...) lol.
Anyone who hasn't voted yet - c'mon! let's hear it! I know there are more than 7 people who frequent these boards ;D
UPDATE:Well, we played our tournament! We ended up with a 7th player, so I scrambled to scratch out the Round Robin Blitz for 7 players, so each round had a different person sitting out, with 7 total rounds of play. We still kept it to 10 minute matches...
The ROUND ROBIN BLITZSo, this was some of the most intense, most harrowing, most exciting Overpower I've played! With 7 rounds, but everyone getting a BYE round, each player had 6 games with a total possible points to earn at 120 (instead of the 100 we previously had). It was a bit of a learning curve for everyone playing, because at the ten minute mark - that's it. This made it a very tricky thing to venture aggressively. Also, it turned out to be quite the gambit to lose a single Venture card in order to KO 1 or 2 characters. There were some tweeks I would definitely have changed (check here (http://www.beenhereandthere.com/SMF/index.php?topic=874.0) for those changes), but in the end the point system worked
very well. The flat bonus for a W proved to be the most valuable. In the Round Robin Blitz, I was able to win 3 of my 6 games, giving me a flat 60 points. between the other 3 games I took another 22 points giving me 82 and securing the #1 Seed in our Tournament.
Some of my highlights were getting Tracking Senses to land in two different games! In one of them, I was actually able to KO the target in a single turn, going 5i-4s-8fPC! I was also able to make very, very good use of Deadpool's OM Special from the MARVELS set, (Knock'em Silly) - when I was able to pile a couple hits on single target (usually keeping it suited, so they were more likely to allow it to land), it really kept true to it's name ;D
The BRACKETSSo, this was some seriously good stuff!! As the winner of the #1 Seed, I had a 1st Round Bye, which meant I only had to win 3 consecutive games to be crowned the Winner...
Game 1)
Black Widow
CaptAm, Hulk, Thor
<vs>
Gambit, Wolvie, Deadpool
Sabretooth
This was against my nephew. He's decent with the game, but he's still really inexperienced. Also, he only
sorta likes Overpower, so he doesn't invest a ton of thought into his games. But hey, he'd made it through Round 1, so here he is! With a little back and forth banter, I quickly put Hulk down. Then, the hand after Hulk went down, I used Wolverine's FD-Special (MARVELS), getting into a Standoff with Thor (because he had a 7F placed to Black Widow). It was not pretty for my favorite Avenger... From there, it was all about card advantage. I landed a few suited hits on Black Widow, and used Deadpool's OM to drain cards, he also had discards for Hulk and Thor. It was over pretty quickly, 3 hands, I think.
- 1 game in the bag, 2 more wins to paydirt
Game 2)
Thing
Morlocks, Symbiote Spidey, Sub-Mariner
<vs>
Gambit, Wolvie, Deadpool
Sabretooth
This was against my big brother. He loves him some Spider-Man and I was pleased he was doing so well with his deck. But now I put on my game face: (-_-) and it was on! He opens with some heat and I'm sweatin' it a little. He had that whole "Namor-is-his-own-teamwork-card" thing going on! Anyway, losing Gambit quickly, the turning point was definitely the hand that my Event won, "Strength Power cards do not count in the Venture Total" in his oversight, he used his 8 to kill Gambit, but I let him go and followed up with my own 8. His was Strength, mine was Fighting. I think I won 4 or 5 on that hand - don't remember, but it was the swing point. Even though Gambit had died, I'm pretty sure I had taken Morlocks out, and maybe even Namor. It was a few hands after my killer Event that I took that game as well.
- 2 games down, I'm in the finals with no losses! 2 chances to take it home, BABY!!
Game 3)
Callisto
ScarletW, Onslaught, Ghost Rider
<vs>
Gambit, Wolvie, Deadpool
Sabretooth
This game was pretty brutal out the gate. He had great cards early, but I had timely conceding. He was starting to get ahead on Venture, particularly when I went 4 (I had my BQ placed, and was holding Standoff, 4F, AG, and 3 power cards for Wolvie), because I was really, quite sure I would get Standoff to land, even if it took using the BQ to pull it back out after it misses the first time - my mistake? I forgot one of the biggest strategies in his deck was the untargetted AI-Specials. I played Standoff on G.Rider, which he negated (which was one of his 2 drawn cards, btw - nice), then he promptly used Scarlet's AI to make me discard the BQ! In the end of that hand, I was still gonna win and G.Rider was going to die, but he won venture using Cannon Fodder on G.Rider, dropping 12 points off the Current Battle! Up until that point, though, I had been spreading my attacks out pretty evenly, trying to set up the use of Deadpool's OM by forcing him to take hits on everyone, or pile up extras (we were both using the Event to move 1 Hit from 1 character, putting it on another character). The end result, though, was that while he was just a few Ventures from winning (maybe even going FTW), I was able to KO Onslaught AND Scarlet Witch, leaving him with just Callisto, while I had only lost Wolverine. Callisto had also taken 2 hits (INT/FGT). On the next hand, he couldn't go FTW and I had Sabretooth's Wildcat 7S. I played it straight off for the KO and the WIN!!!!
I felt a little weird about winning my own tournament, but hey, I just played the hands I was dealt, literally ;)
