Negative venture

Pretty simple idea: if your opponent finishes a battle with a negative venture total, not only do they lose the venture but they have to move a mission from the completed pile to the reserve pile regardless of where the other cards were ventured.  So if I venture 2 cards from reserve, and I have 3 cards in completed, my 2 ventured would move to defeated and I would also have to move 1 card from completed to reserve.  I suppose if you wanted to be extra harsh you could modify the rule so that if a player loses a battle with negative venture and has no cards in completed, then they have to move a card from reserve to defeated.  That might drag things out too long, though.

The idea is to make negative venture inherents more lethal, not that they need much of a boost, and to add some strategic thinking to the specials that say "raise your venture by X or lower your opponent's venture by X".  The only drawback might be homebases with venture hits to yourself, but I suppose you add a rule that states that your own venture total can only be dropped to negative values by your opponent.

I haven't tried playing with this rule personally, so...thoughts?

I think something like this is a GREAT idea! ever since I found out how AF-codes are supposed to be played, I've wracked my brain to find a way to make them better!
(back in the day, we thought they were used to venture 3 more cards! like, "oh, I'm winning Venture? let me boost the cards I ventured by 3 then!).

what about simply saying,
"If your venture total ends in the negative, one additional mission card must be ventured and lost."

so, the loser could still decide to take an extra Reserve to Defeated, or a Completed to Reserve, depending on what might suit his needs. I think it helps temper it a little. thoughts?
