The Dude

So after watching the insanely good new Predators movie on DVD last week (for the first time since seeing it in the theatres) which then sparked me to go watch the unparrelled awesomenss that is the original, and I soon found I had a Predator itch going. Here is the result of scratching it.

I'll preface by saying I know this is a ludicrous number specials for one character but seeing as many of them are low level main skill attacks I figure what the hell. Plus its for fun and I wanted to include all his different weapons.
I also went with the 25 point grid and restrictive inherant ala Malebogia in Image. The restrictive inherant is perhaps the most out of the box idea as it is meant to reflect Predator code of not attacking unarmed prey but tactically it gives the opponent a degree of control over who can be attacked each battle.

So without further ado (my logic behind certain things is in Italics)

Predator  5-8-6-6 - counts as 23 points for deckbuilding. May only attack Heroes with cards Placed at start of battle unless attacked first.

Big Game - Acts as a level 9 Fighting attack which cannot be shifted or defended by a teammate. Must be made against Target with strongest Power Grid on 8:3 scale. This Special overrides Predator's restrictive inherent vs. Target for remainder of battle. (OPD)

This is the only special I used Alien vs Predator artwork for. The idea is Predator is upping his game to go after the biggest nastiest prey on the field of battle.

Body Armor – Avoid 1 Power card attack.

Cloaking Field – Opponent's Team may not attack for Predator for remainder of battle unless Predator attacks first.
an updated version of Mystique's Illusion of Ally. Besides capturing the flavor of the ability, I thought it was essential since the opponent could force a pass by not placing if Predator was the last hero alive so Predator needed something to potentially even the playing field. Like Mystique's card it is still offensive only .

Code of Honor – For remainder of battle only Predator and Target Hero may attack, be attacked or defend. No conceding. (OPD).

Disc of Death – Acts as a level 3 Energy or Fighting attack. Predator may make 1 additional Power card attack. Neither attack. may be defended by a Special card. (OPD).
Predator is too strong for a JW, but it certainly fit the disc weapon (first shown in the second film). So in compromise I used the Black Panther precedent of taking an AE and making it half-multi for a OPD and applied it to JW.

"He's Using the Trees" – Negates the effect of any 1 Aspect card played by Opponent.
this is a direct quote from the first film after the heroes realize how easily Predator has evaded all their tripwires and traps in their campsite to steal Jesse Ventura's body. Easily spotting and neutralizing traps at a military campsite seemed to translate well into negating a Hombase's Aspects in Overpower .

Laser Cannon – Acts as a level 7 Energy attack.

Medi-Kit – Predator may remove 1 Hit from his Hits to Current Battle. Affects Venture Total.

Predator Hounds – Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack that cannot be shifted, negated or healed. May be made against Reserve. This Special is not affected by Predator's Restrictive Inherant Ability.
From the newest film. Predator may have a code of honor about attacking unarmed opponents but his pack of wild alien hunting dogs certainly doesn't

Self Destruct – Acts as a level 12 Energy attack. May only be played if Predator has Hits totaling 15 or more on his Permanent Record. (OPD).

Spear – Acts as a level 3 Fighting attack. May only be defended by a card with an Energy icon.
Tiffany has this exact same special for her Lance so why not have a Spear do the same thing

Thermal Vision – Play during current battle. Next battle, opponent must reveal any Activator cards in hand and play Activator cards open handed for remainder of battle.
Again Stryker has a similar imaging power so I just adapted the effect for Predator

Tracking Laser – Play during battle. For remainder of game any Energy attack made by Predator may not be moved from Target Character.

Trophy Collector – Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. If this card KO's Target, Predator may move 1 Mission Card from Reserve Missions Pile to Completed Missions Pile.

Ugly Mother – Play defensively after Predator takes a Hit. Predator is +2 for remainder of game vs. Opponent who just hit him and may attack that Hero for remainder of game. OPD.
an updated version of Punisher's Vendetta, that us allows Predator to override his restrictive inherent.

Wrist Blades – Acts as a level 5 Fighting attack May make 1 additional Fighting attack.

So that's the ballgame. Feedback appreciated. And if people like movie-based homemades I have a few others I can share. Halloween inspired a team card for the black & white Universal Monsters while Novembers Harry Potter film inspired two cards from that franchise.

Those are all really cool concepts! Talk about no-holds-barred!
Have you playtested any of those?

Nostalgic

Good ideas. You should do one for the special net he uses to pin people against the wall. Obviously an AV special.  8)

Steve,

thanks for liking my stuff. I'd be happy to post more when I get time. I finished a whole movie expansion a few months back with Boba Fett, Indiana Jones, Terminator, etc. I tend to only stop by this website once a month hence the not posting that often. (No offense but the game has been dead 10 years and we're all busy with real life I figure there's nothing really urgent in the world of OP discussion that can't wait a few weeks between visits)
