breadmaster

i'll try to help you out with that, jack

i'll start from 'a' down, if anyone else wants to help, the can go from 'z' up

Jack

Thanks breadmaster!

For anyone else who wants to help, I'll give out a few Marvel vs Wildstorm promos depending on how much you help out. Any cards are valid until I'm out, I've amassed a few spare sets of it now.

breadmaster

wow, cool!

if you have it, the only card i need from that set is wynnona earp

Jack

Will do. If you're coming on the 22nd, I'll make sure to bring one with me, any others?

gameplan.exe

I'd be happy to help for a Crystal hero card  :)

Just running through the list of card text? That's totally do-able. Is there a convenient way to access the text without launching the OPO Program? I imagine it's in one of the files with the OPO package I downloaded, right?

The MDB will contain everything you need, you can look into it with Access or a similar program. I can export the raw database into an Excel spreadsheet if you guys want.

@ncannelora: Yep, Crystal is up for grabs too. I don't mind if you guys double up on the work, the more eyes the better.

sa-weet. I'll get started tonight. Do you have any kind of deadline in mind?

Nope, it's an on-going process.

I'll have the spreadsheets up in a bit.

EDIT:

http://overpower.ca/uploads/database.zip

The best way to go at it would be to create a new spreadsheet or document and just give me the errors or just type out the proper text. There's no need to tell me if things are correct.

breadmaster

ok, jack.  i'm just confirming that this is indeed what you're looking for, so i don't waste my time if it's not

so far i'm up to apocalypse

i've found 2 discrepancies, both on 'marvels' cards

alpha flight: madison jeffries.  on the word 'toward', it's pluralized on the special (towards) yet singular in the text box

angel: NJ    special-attack not affected... text- attack IS not affected...

Yep, that's good.

EDIT:
More help is needed:

I need someone to help take this text file and use this tournament guide and help correct the text that I extracted from it. Now, there's a lot of the rulings provided in the guide that are incorrect/obsolete  but I want at least a good starting point.

The text file has some of the text already extracted but the recognition software isn't perfect. If anyone wants to help out, the Marvel/Wildstorm characters are always up for grabs. I also have some other promo cards if you don't like Marvel/Wildstorm heroes (subject to availability :P)

Help is still needed, I haven't heard back from anyone yet, except breadmaster.

I've finally got the cards scanned in and I'm working on them now. I'm about 60% done with a full push to complete it by this weekend. There will be ~2850 cards (fronts and backs -- if they are unique). I'll probably have 40 more cards in addition to that total to include the Jumbo promos.

Files: I don't like to mix around with partial pixels since the images were cropped to a 5:7 ratio. I think 300x420 is a good round number to keep things, the cards are very readable at that size. The next lower value of 250x350 is a bit small for a card with a lot of text (DoW is what I'm using to test things). File sizes are ~200KB-300KB each, so a full set would be roughly 750MB. Of course, this is before optimizations so it will likely be less. We'll see when I'm done.

Also a note, the cards aren't perfect. I tried my best to crop them out nicely and fix scanning errors when I see them. I'm sure there's at least 200 cards that look wrong in the set of 2890. Let me know when they're released and I'll put up fresh versions of them.

EDIT:
There are 2913 files in the whole set, and will probably use ~25GB in PSD format. Waiting until the end of the month because I'm missing scans of the Assault on Onslaught missions (they looked too dark when scanned naked, gotta sleeve it up to deflect some light). I also mis-scanned the Shi'ar's Lillandra and Hellfire Club's Sebastian Shaw cards as well as the moire'd Grifter and Zealot.

EDIT:
Here's a preview of things to come, I haven't had time to work on the new interface for the character search.

DaGreatNameless

I haven't been on here in a while and just noticed this. Is everything all done or do you still need some help with anything.

Jack

Not really, I think I'm okay with the site material. If you notice any mistakes, let me know.

I'll put up the new stuff on Feb 1.

Final statistics for the new card images:

2948 cards.
PNG at 24-bit, 300x420 pixel resolution (120 DPI): ~700MB for the set (average of 237KB/card)
PNG at 24-bit, 500x700 pixel resolution (200 DPI): ~2.0GB for the set (average of 695KB/card)
"Raw" PSD, 1500x2100 pixel resolution (600 DPI): 28GB for the set (average of 9.25MB/card)

I'm offering the first two sets as downloads, the last set will not be distributed.

EDIT:
Downloads will be linked on the website shortly, for those that want to get at them:

The set on the site:
