Here's one that I don't even have the answer to:

How many possible, legal 4 character combinations are there?

Factor in:
  • ABC with D in reserve is the same as CAB with D in reserve but not BCD with A in reserve.
  • Homebase combinations (excluding the Tournament Legal bases)
  • Sum-deck rule, for 12/13/14/15/16 stats.
  • Clones (Wolverine + Wolverine: AoA not on a team)
I'll probably start crunching my numbers soon. The number is probably less than 21405153024.

Prize? I haven't thought of one yet. OverPower t-shirt + Jean Grey: Dark Phoenix (XM) to the winner (if there is one)?

To clarify, the Homebase combinations are the teams that aren't sum-deck legal. In other words, you can't count 4 characters twice even if they can be made with or without a base.

I can only see 8 possible combinations...

Beyonder + XBabies + _____ + _____
Spawn + Scarlet Witch + _____ + _____
Beast:TheBrute + _____ + _____ + _____
Spawn + XMan + _____ + _____
_____ + _____ + _____ + Hawkeye
_____ + _____ + _____ + Silver Sable
_____ + _____ + _____ + Spider-Woman
Gambit + _____ + _____ + _____  ;D

I'm not good with math.

But there are more than 100 OP characters, I think, right?  Not all of them can be combined into the teams you speak of.  But, each 4 character team brings 4 different combinations because of the reserve element.

I'm going to guess there are thousands of combinations. 3,401.

Looks like I've stumped you on this one. :P

Well, I'll be honest, I think I could eventually work out all of the math on it, but it's just too much work for the reward. Plus, I wanted to ease up and give some other people a chance  :P

There's about 229 unique characters in OverPower, so, with some math: (111,607,501) 229c4 gives you every set of 4 character combinations, since reserve is needed; that number is multiplied by 4 giving 446430004. So that's a starting point, you need to further reduce that number by legal characters via sum-deck, add back characters that appear on a homebase that are sum-deck illegal and that should be the final answer.

Minor issue.. there's also the problem with clone characters, that complicates things a lot so the number is a lot more than 446430004 now. Fun times indeed :P

I guess the reward probably isn't worth the trouble. I'd give a Beyonder out but I'm on short supply. I guess I'll work on this for my own knowledge.

I'd do it for a beyonder! :)
He'll, I'd do it for a-next and starjammers - professor x
