Should Ally cards be Tactics?

I've thought this for a while, and I meant to post it here. I hope I haven't already brought up this discussion and forgotten about it.

It bothers me that Ally cards are universe. When there are so few tactic cards, and fewer useful ones, I don't understand why Ally cards were not designed as tactics. Given placing rules and allotted spaces, I think that would be a nice benefit.

Further more, I think involving an Ally is a tactical move. Sure it could be argued that they are in play in the universe like the materials in a basic universe card, but we already have Basic, Training, and Teamwork Universe. Why not Doubeshot, Artifacts, and Ally for tactics for balance?

Were there more tactics planned other than Artifacts and Doubleshots that never came to fruition?

I completely agree. In fact, for a long item I didn't even realize they were Universe cards.

I can see why you would want them to be tactics. But for me, I dont care either way b/c I dont use them  ;)

You should try throwing one or two in your deck. I have played very little with them, but I've had decent success putting one or two in my deck that everyone can use. It makes a nice guaranteed no-discard.

I always try to use the ones which state that a teammate MAY play a special rather than must, although now that I'm actually putting that in writing, that sure seems like the type of thing they would have errata-ed. Anyone know if they did?

Not to sound like an Overpower newbie but there are ones that say MAY?  I must've have completely overlooked that with the assumption that they are all the same. It was the MUST that always made me cringe b/c the tiny amount of times i used them in deck I would end up not having anything that a teammate could follow up with  :o

They did. Every Ally card now must have a follow up.

edit: I don't think it was an Errata, though. I think they just updated it in the Rule Books under the card description. It makes it clear that a teammate must be present to win - I mean present to play an Ally, because they must have a follow up (like teamwork cards).

That's sad. Oh well.

And Jesse, I believe it was the DC Ally cards that say may, rather than must, but I could be wrong about that.

Batman/Superman had may ally cards. They changed them to must globally.

The may seems too cheap, it was as powerful as the Batman/Superman AR but it counts as a universe card.

lol  I think the thing is, no universe card is supposed to be played by itself.  All of them require another card or cards to be played with them.  Having the ally's read MAY pretty much made them non-duping power cards.  They were only MAY for B/S set, and by I.Q.'s release had been changed to MUST.

Yeah, I agree too. It was just a fun way to use semantics to help your deck out.
