Jackal test play

We just started test-playing the Jackal this week. The main strategy of the character is using a lot of "Clonage" specials in your deck, since Jackal inherent ability allows him to keep duplicate Clonage specials.

Clonage: Level 1 Fighting attack. If successful, Jackal may draw another "Clonage" Special from Draw Pile and put in hand. Reshuffle Draw Pile.

Jackal has another special that makes a great combo with "Clonage":

Carrion Virus: Level 0 Any-Power attack. If successful, Target character Hits to KO number decreases 5 points for each Hit on Target character's Permanent Record.

I built my deck using 12 "Clonages".  :o  Of course the deck can turn against yourself if Jackal gets KO'd too early. So I built a defensive team around him, using Dr. Strange who also has a "resurrect hero" special (actually our homemade version that is much better than the original one  8)) and the event "Mad God Raises Dead" wich also allows players to resurrect a KO'd character. X-Babies in front and Professor X in reserve completed my team.

My first challenge was my friend's winning deck with Spawn, Guy Gardner Green Lantern, Legion of Super-Heroes and The Ray (reserve). It was like being hit by a truck and I lost on battle #3. Even though I played 5 Clonages during this game and only 2 of them were successful.

I played the second game against "Lobo, Blob, Legion of Super-Heroes and Aquaman". That was the same deck that Spider used in our Wrecking Crew test play (www.beenhereandthere.com/SMF/custom-cards/wrecking-crew-test-play/).
I think I totally lucked out this time, since Jackal got KO'd by battle #2 and resurrected by "Mad God" event on battle #3. Spider also made some really dumb mistakes and told me that I've conceded twice when he was about to smash my team.
During that game I played 7 Clonages, while Spider changed his strategy and decided to take most of them. This was interesting to test, because it showed that Clonage is not harmful and don't make much difference in Venture either. Anyway I won due to Spider's mistakes and my miracle resurrection.

Game #3 was also interesting, since it was the most balanced of them all. I remember of drawing the resurrect event while there was no character KO'd. Once again Spider decided to take most of the Clonage attacks, instead of defending. At the end I got Professor X and X-Babies standing against the Blob and Aquaman. At least my Professor got KO'd and I resurrected him with Strange's special that was in play. That was decisive and turned a teamwork from my hand playable. As a result Jackal's team won again, achieving a 2-1 record.

Spider and his deck sometime during game#3

Our first impression was that Clonage is, in fact, a weak special. Although I felt its really funny to play with it. Spider told me that the Special is really annoying.  ;D ;D ;D We decided to raise the attack level to 2, so the opponent would think twice before ignoring it.

We also learned that the special allows the player to cheat: if a player has two or more clonages in hand, he could draw any card he wants from draw pile and tell the other player that the other clonage in his hand came from the draw. I decided to prevent it by adding the wording "must show drawn card."

I will keep the test-play running for a while with the character.

Thanks for putting them up there, Bios.  Text is fine, but there's nothing like seeing the actual cards posted.
Can't wait for your next set (but obviously i will)!

i agree. if Bios could get a run (with the same printer quality and price point)  to what Jack and BBH put together for his unoffical marvels expansions i would probably pick up 2 play-sets of each expansion! WHAT FUN THAT WOULD BE!
