cards that are completely outclassed

i've posted before about my disdain for dr polaris' make the blood boil

Acts as a level 7 Any-Power attack.  If successful, acts as a level 0 Energy, Fighting, Strength, or Intellect power card. (GD)

it's easier to defend than an 8m, and adds zero to venture (and has ALL 5(!) icons for leech)

here's an example that may be even worse

Hydra-hydra agents: Target Character must discard 1 Placed Tactic card. (LF)

Hellfire club-trevor fitzroy: Opponent must discard all Placed Tactic cards, and is -3 to Venture total. (IB)

and to add insult, these cards were released in the SAME SET!

any other examples?

Jack

Blue Beetle's IB compared to <insert all the discard placed universe specials>. -- though this one was a mistake that they didn't want to correct.

Bullio

Any of the weak AR's like Violator's 4F attack.  That one's actually a perfect example of the least useful version of the special as Violator's fighting stat is 2 points higher than the special itself.  There might be one where the card is actually higher than the hero's stat, but it wouldn't matter because it wouldn't be worth the deck space.

i've been told that the blue beetle card was errata'd, then switched back to played as written...they got one right!

good call with the level 4 ARs

here's another one that i brought up before

punisher/thing's BB (Play after Punisher takes a hit. Punisher is +2 for remainder of battle vs. opponent who just hit him) vs prof x BG (team +2 to all actions)

breadmaster

found another brutal example

carnage-anarchy : Heroes on opponent's team with Intellect 7 or 8 may not use cards with an Intellect icon to attack for remainder of battle. (opd)

superboy-dubbliex: Opponent's team may not use cards with an Intellect icon for remainder of battle. (opd)

carnages is very limited in who it effects, and what the effects are.  superboys is an icon beatdown!

The only thing that's bad about this card is that it's relative strength as an OPD is awful. It isn't a great card by any means, but it certainly isn't terrible. Unless you target a hero that your opponent doesn't care about and/or you're playing someone who ONLY cares about venture I have to believe that a good percentage of the time people are going to want to block this. A multi-power hit is always something to worry about. Also think about it this way. Even if it lands, and you lose the venture/don't get points, it could force some high blocks in the future.

Oh, and I've been out of the OP scene for over a decade, but do people even target Any-Power with Leech? That seems like a stretch for a critique. Not only that, but this complaint seems to be a contradiction. If it's such a bad card then wouldn't you want to have it in your hand to get Leeched? Hell it seems like it'd be a great thing to happen to have this card in my hand or placed. It'd be the first thing I dump. It's not like you were counting it for the venture, so you clearly weren't factoring it any anyway.

It's pretty terrible that this is an OPD, but it's excusable seeing as it was from the original set. Lots of stuff from there is outclassed now. It's a pretty good card relative to Punisher's personality, so it gets a pass from me.

--- The cards that I've never been a fan of are the AD specials. 1 icon out of 3 was bad enough, but now it's 1 out of 5. These are a BIT more tolerable if played from a battlesite, but even then I don't know if I'd put one in.
