Deck Construction / Avoid 1 (power type) attack

How much use do you get out of single power type avoids like Carnage's Climb or Namor's Winged Feet? I often skip these in deck builds because 1/4 types seems like a long shot. I was wondering if my perspective was wrong.

If the production quality were high, I would have interest for a set-- if and whenever that comes to pass.

Welcome. I am impressed by the parts of the world that OP reached. Has it been discussed on the forum before? I might have even marveled at this and posed the question already -- I'm feeling some deja vu.  Is there statistics or some knowledge about worldwide distribution?

I consider Galactus' ability to play all (...may not the Intellect ones if you use the old version) teamwork cards as the main reason why he doesn't have any Special cards.
I didn't think of that. Good point.

Playing Specials / Re: Playing other character's specials

The more I read this thread, the more I became confused. Can I get a final summary on the ruling, please?

Why doesn't Galactus have any special cards? I know he's all 8s on the grid, but wouldn't specials named for his heralds be appropriate?

Am I reading the site wrong, or did they only create one special per new character. That doesn't seem to make them very usable.

Graphics and design look great though. I like that they even made a box for them. It brings back some great memories.

Onslaught has a post that touches on this topic.

bamf!, Teddy, and I did a Original/PowerSurge/Mission Control battle once. If you didn't using a strength (me :() deck, it was game over.

I remember hearing that Strength decks were a powerhouse for a while. What was the reason for that vs. other power types? In those days, I was not plugged in to any players outside of my own home, so I wasn't aware of any trends.

Has anyone ever tried playing a game or tournament where you used only cards released up to a certain point?

I guess you might even try this as a deck building challenge, though if both players weren't playing that way, you'd likely be at a significant disadvantage.

In case you don't know what I mean: let's say you have a tournament where you can only use cards released in the Original and Powersurge sets. This would include any/all cards like universe, Any Character (I guess still called Any Hero), etc. No using "newer" specials even for old heroes.

I was wondering how that's turned out, if you have, and what stories you have.

Imagine playing this card from a battlesite and then using a character that gets +2 to defense for remainder of battle.  That becomes remainder of game!  Or even worse, what if you played this special from a battlesite onto Maverick or Professor X, then played Freelance Spy or Team Coordination!!!  That would be as beast as it gets!!!  I'm not sure it would be fair, but it would be fun.  What about a BJ special??!!!  Play it on Gambit... he could never be attacked for remainder of game... might have to work the kinks out of this one.  Maybe print it on the card that it cannot be used from a battlesite?
Only if you were the one playing it I assure you. As you said there's no way that special would be allowed from a battlesite. It would cause WAAAYYYY too much potential abuse. Besides the ones you mentioned I'll give you a few more insane combinations.

Blind man's Bluff
The Mr. Sinister Special where you have to play open handed

...yeah that would just be stupid.
Strong observation. I hadn't thought of these kinds of effects.

what i was thinking, was that when all characters have at least one suggestion, i'd compile them

then we'd have to determine which idea to go with for characters that have a few suggestions
Sounds good. It's hard for me to follow every post, but a summary once all the ideas are compiled would be great.

i'm not very good with computers at all, so me making a wiki is pretty much impossible

if you have any ideas, by all means, throw them in here.  even insane ideas...throw em all, and we'll see what sticks!

How about a Google Doc? That would be fairly simple.

Is there a list being compiled where we can track these ideas all in one place. Maybe a wiki type page?

Also, I would like to bump one of my ideas for Apocalypse that I shared in another thread:
