Remove up to 2 Hits that each have more than one icon each from Gamora's Permanent Record.
i never expected such a quick turnaround! you either work fast, or had this in your back pocket for a while.
glad to see Firelord - i've never seen him done other than what i tried in my HoG group from over 2 years ago. (i hadn't figured out how to post back then, so the cards never were put up.) you couldn't wipe the smile from my face! my grid was similar to yours, and i used 3 mechanics identical to the ones you chose (my AB was a 4, not 5). (makes me feel i'm not so far off-base as i sometimes think.) your art selections are much better. i guess my only comments (besides GREAT) is that the art of Energy Manipulation & Solar Flare are a little too similar for my tastes.
i see NO duplication in Gamora, other than some art choices. different grid, different (yet similar) specials mechanics. just as valid as mine, simply another viewpoint. i'm all for it.
go with your gut & don't worry about "duplication".
additional: i'm curious if you'll be including other Heralds in your set besides Firelord & Terrax (your old version of him convinced me to leave him alone), or will we just have to wait & see? of course Silver Surfer is legacy, but i've never seen version done for The Fallen One, Air Walker, Destroyer Armor, Nova: Frankie Raye, Morg, Red Shift, & Stardust other than what i attempted.
Those 2 were the ones i had the most notes on. So they came out pretty quick.
I'm going to change Gamora's Godslayer because i just discovered there was a Special that already did what i was looking for. JZ specials were in the Classic and X-Men set.
Firelord. Thank you sir. A lot of those art selections are newer. It was real hard to find enough a few years ago. The War of Heroes game has provided a lot of usable art for some more obscure characters lately. Which is why those two images have a good bit of the same look. I couldn't really find too many of him cutting loose with his powers. Mostly just him flying around. If i find any better i might swap one of them out.
Perhaps Morg. Probably not any of the other heralds though. They are just a little too obscure to find nice artwork for. Air-Walker might appear as a 7th special for Firelord though.
Another duplicate is up next. Phyla-Vell. She is going to be different than yours though. I tinkered with the function of the HU Specials a bit and added an additional reason to play them. She is based a bit off of Thunderbird from the X-Men set. Her Martyr and Nega-Band Specials copy his specials but with the addition of Energy Sponge it becomes a better option of including her with Martyr and living after using it. Her Quasar and Daughter of Mar-Vell specials also give her access to other playable cards and increase her total hits to KO making Martyr a more usable Special too.
Phyla-Vell 7 3 6 4 20 (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Characters/Phyla-Vell_zps81oihhrx.jpg)

Phyla-Vell may Place and play Captain Mar-Vell's "Cosmic Awareness" and "Protector Of The Universe" Special cards and her hits to K.O. number is increased by 3 points for remainder of game.
Phyla-Vell Martyr (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Specials/Phyla-Vell%20-%20Martyr_zpsa1rtrppv.jpg)
Move any 1 Hit from Teammate to Phyla-Vell. Repeat until Phyla-Vell is KO'd or all Hits are on Phyla-Vell. Does not affect Venture Total. May be played from Reserve.
Phyla-Vell Energy Sponge (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Specials/Phyla-Vell%20-%20Energy%20Sponge_zps3kufz2lw.jpg)
Avoid 1 Energy attack. Remove all Hits with an Energy icon from Permanent Record of Phyla-Vell and Phyla-Vell's team.
Phyla-Vell Nega-Bands (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Specials/Phyla-Vell%20-%20Nega-Bands_zpse3uxcng7.jpg)
Acts as a level 2 Intellect attack. If successful, remove all Intellect Power card Hits from Phyla-Vell and teammate's Permanent Record and Hits from Current Battle.
Phyla-Vell Quantum Sword (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Specials/Phyla-Vell%20-%20Quantum%20Sword_zps58hythfs.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Energy attack. If opponent has "Annihilation Conquest" Mission, opponent also -4 to Venture Total for this battle.
Phyla-Vell Quasar (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Specials/Phyla-Vell%20-%20Quasar_zpsbf9onr7l.jpg)
Phyla-Vell may Place and play Quasar's "Quantum Bands" and "Protector Of The Universe" Special cards and her hits to K.O. number is increased by 3 points for remainder of game.
i don't see a duplicate, justa different view. i used some of the art & titles you used, but the mechanics are all different. the closest one was the MK, but i had made mine non-OPD by deleting the "team" part of the secondary effect.
the grid's fine, but maybe a little on the high side. i'm curious to see where you'll put Wendell Vaughn - i see him as much more powerful the Phyla, not just a little. and why Mar-Vell from Reserve & not Quasar?
the HU specials ARE appropriate to her, and the addition you made DOES make the more usable. BUT i'm not really sure they go well together for her. i didn't see where she had any special endurance powers (besides the bands) to justify a CKO boost.
to beat her - don't attack her with Energy after Martyr is played. Nega-Bands can't come in.
and Quantum Sword SUCKS for targeting my Aladon Prime Prison team! ;D
You know, you are right about the power levels. She should probably only be a 5 strength. I"m not sure why I slipped that 6 in there. As to the energy, i think the 7 is fine. I've only given Quasar a 7 also. Energy is a slippery thing to figure. 7 covers a wide variety of power levels and i find it a little hard to pin down. The Cosmic characters are especially slippery.
Why Daughter of Mar-vell from Reserve and not Quasar? Because both would be too powerful and Vell is her last name(nah i really just picked one, that happened to be it).
I know that's not how the energy sponge ability works but when you look at killrazor's MW special the gametext doesn't really match the title of the card or his powers. I was just trying to build some specials that work together well. All the cosmic characters tend to have a little more staying power than the street level characters so that's how i justify the HU specials.
Quantum Sword ;D
I think i'll change Phyla-Vell's character to a 7-3-5-4 along with the fix to Gamora's card.

??? Killrazor doesn't have an MW. but i get the gist of what you're saying. and they're your cards - i can only offer opinions from my own point of view. ;)
in fact, i also used a somewhat "different" method to portray the "energy sponge" effect. (i didn't want to just copy how they did Bishop.) i gave her an IA to draw a card after taking a hit with an Energy icon, trying to reflect how she absorbed the energy and got more power out of it. then my non-OPD version of the MK (Quantum Bands) would keep her alive by removing all Energy icons.
I like your build of her too.
Been busy but here are the 2 'fixes'.
Phyla-Vell 7 3 5 4 19 (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Characters/Phyla-Vell_zpsln4uqufv.jpg)

Acts as a level 12 Energy attack. If successful, Black Bolt or Black Bolt's teammates may not defend Black Bolt with Special cards for remainder of game.
Black Bolt Whisper (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Specials/Black%20Bolt%20-%20Whisper_zpsrikxmev7.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Energy or Strength attack.
i keep hearing in my head Elvis Costello & Glen Tillerson singing "From a Whisper to a Scream"... ;D
i'm glad you gave Black Bolt the full 23 points. the legacy Inhumans was 21, & that's with the others averaging him down. kinda dark art for the character card, i guess to emphasize the Black. but great choices otherwise. any chance we'll see other Inhumans done individually?
i'm starting to really like your version of the QH special. your use of them for characters that destroy (Black Bolt, Rhino) seems to fit well to me.
Thanks man. I don't think that i will do any of the other Inhumans individually.
Terrax i have done before. But these have lots of new nicer art. All cards are the same except for one remamed and one that i dropped and added his inherent instead.
Terrax 8 5 7 2 22 +1 to all attacks against a Battlesite. (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m218/FennShysa/Overpower%20V2/Cosmic%20Marvel/Characters/Terrax_zpsy92cliva.jpg)

I don't think that i will do any of the other Inhumans individually.
oh well. i was thinking Medusa, Crystal, & Triton might be worth a shot at a stand-alone due to their work outside of the group. maybe someday i'll give 'em a try.
on Terrax - if you dropped one off your old specials, then i never saw it. i only have the 6 you reprinted here (+5 from other creators). the only one i don't like is the BI. its like a basic U that only he can use, complete with card disadvantage. the code needs something to make it more usable.
i'm not sure which character card was your old card, but the new character card is different than any i've seen. i like the IA - quite appropriate for him.
but... i can't say i'm a big fan of the grid itself. the 8E and 23 total seem too much to me. leaving all the stats you have alone (i'm ok with them), i would probably dial his energy down to a 6 for a total of 21. but that's justa my opinion.
I don't think i ever made a character card for him before. I originally had him as 7-5-8-3. When reading the wiki entry again he is only 75 tons without power cosmic enhancement with he can cross the 100 ton threshold which is where my level 8 strength kicks in. The reason i upped the Energy to 8 is because between his natural geokinetic abilities and the power cosmic everything he does is energy influenced even if it doesn't' seem that way. He can use the geokinetic to move giant asteroids, powers the axe, ups his strength. Its sort of unseen but seems 8 qualified. I left his specials a little weaker than most of the other cosmic characters since his grid and inherent were better. Does that possibly change your mind?
its not an exact science. from your explanation, i guess i could go as far as 7 on Energy with a 22 total. but if he gets the 8 because energy powers up his other abilities, then maybe he needs a point dropped off somewhere else. but what do i know? he just doesn't seem to me to be a character worth a 23. he is to you, and that's ok.
also - most people frown upon a positive IA on a level 8 character. for that matter, a dual 7 character as well. while i personally am against the first, the second doesn't bother me. i'd rather see those characters better defined with an IA (where appropriate, when the character trait isn't really appropriate to be represented by specials). justa my own 2 cents...
Well, I had a bunch of ideas for some Marvel cards so i switched back to here. My version of Rocket. Not that much like Justa's, I looked at his after I finished this one.
Rocket 5 5 1 6 17 (https://i.imgur.com/53A5Imb.jpg)
May play Teamwork cards from Reserve and may Draw 1 card from top of Draw Pile for each Basic Universe card he plays. Discard duplicates.
Rocket Blam! Blam! (https://i.imgur.com/isrhD7Q.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Any-Power attack. May make 1 additional attack.
Rocket Guardian (https://i.imgur.com/iG7q2CD.jpg)
Teammate may avoid 1 attack of 9 or less. May be played while Rocket Racoon is in Reserve.
Rocket Mechanical Genius (https://i.imgur.com/CvoVzdy.jpg)
Play with 1 action involving a Universe card, Universe card bonus is doubled.
Rocket Rocket And Groot (https://i.imgur.com/cp3hyFe.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Energy attack. Teammate may combine with 1 Strength card for a single attack.
Rocket Stockpile (https://i.imgur.com/dM6Mysw.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Energy or Fighting attack.
Rocket Tinkerer (https://i.imgur.com/lIcG7F0.jpg)
Rocket Racoon's team's Basic Universe cards used to attack count toward Damage and Venture Total for remainder of game.
an unusual grid for him, but the 6I is the only thing i haven't seen before. i guess you could see it as a 6 for his abilities to adapt battle plans on the fly and to repair (or jury rig) most forms of machinery.
i am curious - do you use any special rules for basic universe cards that mitigate the card disadvantage they cause?
Yeah I tried Rocket a couple different ways, this one was my favorite. I have no special rules for Basic Universe cards. I"m just a sucker for them. I remember how cool they were when i opened packs of the Original Marvel Overpower. So I always try to include cards that make use of them, and that theme seemed to fit Rocket.
Next, (maybe a whole new character? I haven't seen him before) Fin Fang Foom. Yes, I broke the rule of positive Inherent for a 8 grid character but it seemed quite appropriate. Fin Fang Foom is one of those larger than life (pun intended) characters that don't really fit into Overpower. So he has 4 OPD. He is vulnerable to a Spectrum KO though.
Fin Fang Foom 6 2 8 5 21 (https://i.imgur.com/raPQad5.jpg)
Fin Fang Foom Acid Breath (https://i.imgur.com/cOhJra7.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Energy attack.
Fin Fang Foom Crush (https://i.imgur.com/TshJxjQ.jpg)
All Strength Power Card Hits on Target Character are doubled when determining Cumulative K.O. for remainder of game. Does not count toward Venture Total.
Fin Fang Foom Giant Freaking Space Dragon (https://i.imgur.com/2OPUMrY.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Strength or Intellect attack.
Fin Fang Foom Makluan Physiology (https://i.imgur.com/IxJCkPo.jpg)
Fin Fang Foom's hits to K.O. number is increased to 30.
Fin Fang Foom Monster Island (https://i.imgur.com/7R5aZzQ.jpg)
Fin Fang Foom may make 4 attacks, 3 attacks at +1 each, 2 attacks at +2 each, or 1 attack at +3. Bonus not applied to damage, or Venture total.
Fin Fang Foom Scaly Hide (https://i.imgur.com/GkbKq6j.jpg)
Fin Fang Foom may avoid any numerical attack.
Also, just the character cards for now, but i think I've got them worked out to where i want them. The Inherents are more thematic than particularly useful.
Drax (https://i.imgur.com/xEkk011.jpg) 2 6 7 4 19
+1 to all attacks vs Thanos.
Drax The Destroyer (https://i.imgur.com/z6ms6eW.jpg) 6 2 8 1 17
-1 to defense vs Intellect attacks. +1 to all attacks vs Thanos.
not meaning to boost your bubble, but i've seen 3 other character cards for Fin. (back in the day, a lot of people made character cards without any Specials - go figure.) your grid is way better than 2 of those cards.
for Specials, i have your old one (Ancient Foe, KL) and a bunch that CCTelander had up on his "justabgkid" site.
i'm not strict adherent to the "unwritten rules" myself, but Fin's double IA is WAY too much.
i get the CKO boost. "rules" followers would say to make it a Special, but that would give you 5 OPDs unless you changed one of the other cards.
i don't see any justification for the second part of the IA. with the 8S, he's already at least 1-up on most other characters. i know of nothing in his powers and abilities that would make his attacks more powerful against any particular subset of characters. [the "unnamed herbal leaf" that puts him to sleep could function as a negative IA (such as can't attack ROB when it hits), but i have no clue which Power type would be appropriate for it.]
you used some nice art choices for the specials.
I think you are right. The 30 ko was originally the Makluan Physiology card. for some reason I moved it over to his character card as an inherent ability. So I think I will move it back to that card. As for the strength power cards plus one against characters with a grid of less than eight strength, I was using that to represent just how big he is and that really only a character with eight strength can stand up to him. Does it make sense that way?
not really. the 6E & 8s say that, along with the "oversized" specials. if you want to accent the size even more, i would suggest adding another "above-grid" attack value to Monster Island, maybe even make it non-OPD. (but that would require a change of card mechanic.) Crush adds to the size emphasis already, so it works as you intend.
justa giving my opinion... do what works for you.

an unusual grid for him, but the 6I is the only thing i haven't seen before. i guess you could see it as a 6 for his abilities to adapt battle plans on the fly and to repair (or jury rig) most forms of machinery.
i am curious - do you use any special rules for basic universe cards that mitigate the card disadvantage they cause?
i think rockets F should be 6 for some reason
I agree. It could be a 6, Justa's is a 6 i believe so i went for a little different interpretation. But it definitely could go that way .
I eliminated Fin Fang Foom's Inherent and moved the KO by 30 to the Makluan Physiology card. Updated in the original post.
Groot 2 5 8 4 19 (https://i.imgur.com/1SEzrkTg.jpg)

Teammate may avoid 1 attack.
Groot I Am Groot (https://i.imgur.com/P6lA3iw.jpg)

Groot Rapid Growth (https://i.imgur.com/LlqCfpG.jpg)
Groot may remove all hits with icon of Groot's choice from his Permanent Record.
nice work. :) not the same as mine, but i was not just thinking of the Guardian version. i also liked the old pompous world-invader & biological-experimenter version too, and tried to factor that in.
i was going to put him at 8S, but i didn't feel he was in the same league as the likes of Hulk & Superman. i thought his fighting and intellect skills added to the strength effect to make it seem like an 8. (looking back, OP3's OL Special would have been a good choice for him.)
Green Thumb was a great idea! (it has an extraneous "A" at beginning of text.)
I fixed the Green Thumb special and updated the link.
I had Groot as a 7 but all the descriptions of him i was reading classed him as a 100 ton plus, so i bumped him to an 8. I had no idea he was supposed to be that strong either. Some sources said that the old Groot might really just be a different Flora Colossus, so i left any reference there out.
In the meantime....
Blastaar: Sheer destruction. No defense. Wrecks your plans by discarding lots of placed cards.
Star-Lord: I'm particularly fond of his Save The Galaxy special. And he gets a OPD for his Guardians special.

Man, I love those painted Guardians covers! They are awesome art.
a few opinions...
Blastaar - that grid's not bad, & he's hard to put a grid on. i feel like his fighting could be a little higher, but that would increase total cost. the motif of the specials is different, and exceptionally good at what it does.
Starlord - you could delete the "Tactic:" from Legendary Outlaw similar to how you left the "Universe:" out of Team Leader. that way its works no matter which way you play, and cleans up the text a little. Outlaw also needs a "reshuffle Draw Pile", unless you meant to give his team a preview of what's to come next at the same time.
Guardian needs a little something, seeing it's a step down from "+2 for all actions". maybe a DTR if played defensively, or a defensive action to trigger the effect.
over all, nice work. (again)
Yeah, the wiki entries talked blastaar up as being trained in fighting arts but he is one of those character i've never seen do anything but rage attack. So i kept it at 3 to keep his grid total down.
I just copied the wording from the preexisting cards. Interesting how they are worded different. I probably will drop the Tactic part. I never thought about getting a look at the deck with legendary outlaw. I checked the meta rules on the LV code and they don't mention reshuffling. Unless there is an overall meta-rule about reshuffling when looking through a deck?
+2 to teams defense needs a little more to get played? I suppose a +2 to all actions wouldn't hurt. I was just on the defensive theme.
Right now I'm working on Gladiator. I stole an idea from you justa, and then i beat it into the ground. A number of the Specials and his inherent are going to be based on how many cards are in his completed missions pile or whether there are more cards in his Completed Pile than opponent's. I really liked how you used that to simulate his confidence wavering and his powers waning.
on the LV, check out Spawn's Magickal Chains. i don't think there's a meta-rule or anything, i just think it makes common sense to reshuffle whenever a player searches the draw pile for a specific card.
the +2 for defense is fine, i just thought it could use a little boost to eliminate the card differential. +2 for all actions is an entirely different mechanic.
as far as Gladiator goes - you can't "steal" what is freely given. i only offer up my interpretations. if anything i come up with is worth anything, i consider it a compliment that someone else uses it. and yes, i can see applying that theme heavily to him. it really affects all his powers, not just strength. he is really only as powerful as his confidence is high, just as Superman is only powerful under a yellow sun with the absence of kryptonite. talk about the power of positive thinking...
I see what i did. I looked at the one that pulls and artifact from the dead pile and then switched it to draw pile. Thank you for catching that.
I have a question. I'd like to hear any opinions on. I want to do a Skrulls Character card since the Kree, Inhumans and Shi'ar got one but the Skrulls got skipped. What would you give them for grind ratings? I'm thinking Intelligence and Fighting as the high skills. Maybe a 4-6-3-7? I thought about trying to do something fancy with their grid based off the Secret Invasion but decided just to keep it simple.
Gladiator 6 5 8 3 22 (https://i.imgur.com/V4yy809.jpg)
While Gladiator's team has more completed Missions than opponent, may only be Spectrum KO'd by four Power Types.
Gladiator Devastating Attack (https://i.imgur.com/3aNUlTt.jpg)
Acts as a level 11 Any-Power attack.
Gladiator Heat Vision (https://i.imgur.com/iWv52Rd.jpg)
Acts as a level 3 Energy attack +1 for each Mission card in Gladiator's Completed Missions Pile.
Gladiator Praetor (https://i.imgur.com/zHHlRvC.jpg)
Acts as a level 3 Intellect attack. Each Front Line teammate may make 1 additional attack.
Gladiator Shake It Off (https://i.imgur.com/OYBIxAf.jpg)
Remove 1 hit from the Permanent Record or Hits from the Current Battle of Gladiator for every card in the Completed Missions Pile.
Gladiator Strontian Biology (https://i.imgur.com/MrLXLHs.jpg)
If Gladiator has more cards in Completed Mission Pile than opponent, he is +2 to all actions for remainder of battle and all Gladiator's Special cards are doubled when determining Venture total this battle.
Gladiator Supersonic Speed (https://i.imgur.com/MbKxxRU.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Any-Power attack. Gladiator may make 1 additional Power card attack for every card in Gladiator's Completed Missions Pile. Opponent may defend.
And fixed Star-Lord's Legendary Outlaw in the original post
i have no concrete suggests for specific Skrull grid numbers. are you basing it on the rank & file original Skrulls (which apparently are all gone now)? the deviant Skrulls (which are now dominant)? what about the vampire-like Dire Wraith offshoot (probably best left for someone who also wants to do the Spaceknights)?
the grid you suggested makes a good starting point. it seems fair, except maybe just a 6 on Intellect, as the rank & file of any race drags down the score from the "stars" (i think). 20 points seems too much, considering other races like the Brood. your Specials can accentuate the "above grid" abilities you wish to convey.
not bad at all on Gladiator. rather than decreases for less completed missions, you've used bonuses for more completed missions. the positive IA on an 8 high 22 point character might be considered a bit much, but what the hey? that IA would be pretty "iffy" to use as a Special card.
The specials are going to cover mostly stuff from the Secret Invasion storyline. So I think i'm going to go with the 7 for Intellect, I've been pondering it all afternoon while i worked.
I'm actually going to add the Dire Wraiths and Rom to the set at some point. IDW had been publishing the Micronauts and Rom for more than a year now so i just got my hands on the 1st to collected editions of Rom last week in case i need any art i can't find on the internet i'll borrow from idw.
you're doing Rom, i did Ikon.... why not a Spaceknights team-type character to go with other races? justa thought...
Maybe.
I was just reading Genis-Vell's story. That might be worse than Carol Danver's or Jean Grey's and he hasn't been around nearly as long. I have no freaking idea how to approach that yet. Maybe 1 special card for every different identity he has had. :-\
In the meantime.....
These Skrulls are mostly influenced by the secret invasion storyline. I'm pretty happy with the thematicness of the specials. I slightly modified the CL specials wording so that it was more useful, being able to use it to play a KO teammate's specials in the current battle.
The Skrulls (https://i.imgur.com/ejjUEHM.jpg) 4 6 3 7 20
The Skrulls Duplication (https://i.imgur.com/V7sSr9x.jpg)
This Special acts identical to any Special currently on the table.
The Skrulls Infiltration (https://i.imgur.com/X29bEmV.jpg)
Sort through opponent's Draw Pile. Choose any 1 card and remove it from the game. Reshuffle Draw Pile.
The Skrulls Pai'bok (https://i.imgur.com/rtvJreL.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Energy, Strength, Fighting, or Intellect attack.
The Skrulls Replacement (https://i.imgur.com/T48DRHH.jpg)
The Skrulls may play any KO'd teammate's Specials for remainder of battle.
The Skrulls Shapeshifters (https://i.imgur.com/HCrNDfx.jpg)
The Skrulls may switch entire permanent record with any front line teammate.
The Skrulls Veranke (https://i.imgur.com/vtyrp2p.jpg)
Avoids all attacks from 1 Teamwork card, or Target character must discard 1 Placed Teamwork card.
My take on Quasar, The Eon Special is what it is since he was always looking for one specific coming event that he had to stop.
Quasar 7 5 4 5 21 (https://i.imgur.com/Iv0jLsC.jpg)
May play "Protector Of The Universe" from Reserve.
Quasar Eon (https://i.imgur.com/QudTJXp.jpg)
Sort through opponent's Draw Pile. Choose any 1 card and remove it from game. Reshuffle Draw Pile.
Quasar Project Pegasus (https://i.imgur.com/Q6nazvo.jpg)
Reshuffle Power Pack into Draw Pile.
Quasar Protector Of The Universe (https://i.imgur.com/2h7edhs.jpg)
Quasar or teammate may avoid 1 attack of 9 or less.
Quasar Quantum Bands (https://i.imgur.com/CtQuJZo.jpg)
Discard one Energy Power card usable by Quasar to draw 4 cards from top of the Draw Pile. May keep duplicates.
Quasar Quantum Battering Ram (https://i.imgur.com/XXL4zIf.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Energy or Strength attack. If not successful, Quasar is -2 to attack for remainder of battle.
Quasar Quantum Blast (https://i.imgur.com/nW3GVq5.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Energy attack. If successful, Target Character -2 to defense for remainder of battle.
Jack Of Hearts may get an inherent ability yet.
Jack Of Hearts 7 3 5 4 19 (https://i.imgur.com/Ap3w36N.jpg)
EDIT: This is what i am thinking for an Inherent. "After discard phase draw 1 random card from Power Pack, if it has an Energy icon you may add it to your hand (may keep duplicates)." Two things: Can that be worded better? Is keeping the duplicate too much?
Jack Of Hearts Avenger (https://i.imgur.com/BcTawyhg.jpg)
Teammate may avoid 1 attack made with an Activator card or Any Character/Any Hero card. Jack Of Hearts may draw 1 card from top of Draw Pile. Discard duplicates.
Jack Of Hearts Ganymede (https://i.imgur.com/Mie4TDF.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Fighting attack. Jack Of Hearts may play 1 additional Special card.
Jack Of Hearts Mutagenic Armor (https://i.imgur.com/5nGKXQD.jpg)
Jack Of Hearts may avoid any numerical attack.
Jack Of Hearts Scanalyzer (https://i.imgur.com/WOhwPrf.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Intellect attack. If successful, Opponent must discard all Activator cards and Any Character/AnyHero cards in Hand.
Jack Of Hearts Zero Blast (https://i.imgur.com/RcaUntv.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Energy attack.
Jack Of Hearts Zero Energy Generation (https://i.imgur.com/mrLAP13.jpg)
Jack Of Hearts gains a +2 to all actions for remainder of battle.
Skrulls - thematically cool. there's a little card disadvantage built into the specials, but they fit well. new characters are always good for my way of thinking (expand the game).
Quasar - do you see Phyla as stronger than Wendell? (that's where you have them.) some unique cards for him.
Jack of Hearts - another first! with the Scanalyzer built into his brain i would have thought Intellect might be higher, but i'm not that familiar with him, so i can't comment too much.
all in all, good work! :)
Quasar. His overall stats are better i think. Plus he can play his teammate defensive special from Reserve. If i used to have her at 6 Strength I think you convinced me to knock it down to 5, maybe i forgot to upload that change.
Jack of Hearts. I never actually read a story with the Scanalyzer (I've only read a few issues with him in them at all) but if i jacked his intellect up that would put his grid totals pretty high. So i just represented it with the Intellect special.
ok
Question for anyone. What would you rate the original Guardians of the Galaxy's Power Levels at (team grid)?
Major Victory
Charlie-27
Martinex
Yondu
Starhawk
Nikki Gold
good luck on this one - i gave up when i was doing GotG characters.
from what i've seen, maybe a 6 for E & F, less for S & I.
lol Groot with 4 Intellect.
but yea Rocket with his innate fits his theme perfectly. any tool/equipment he will use at his disposal to combat his foes
Well, in a lot of the stories Groot isn't dumb, it's just that no one can understand him.
Thanks, I was really happy with Rocket.
I kept trying to justify a 7 in something for the original/future Guardians but ended up with a 6E 6F character. I gave them a nice inherent that is limited by their max 6 stats so it shouldn't be overly powerful.
Guardians 3000 6 6 4 3 19 (https://i.imgur.com/r1zeHKV.jpg)
May defend any Teammate with Power cards.
Guardians 3000 Charlie-27 (https://i.imgur.com/4ZD5a0P.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Strength attack.
Thank you to OP3 for the idea on how to make this Special useful.
Guardians 3000 Major Victory (https://i.imgur.com/lkuaTCh.jpg)
All of Guardians 3000's Team's Special cards are doubled when determining Venture Total this battle.
Guardians 3000 Martinex (https://i.imgur.com/bpyp9hd.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Energy attack. If successful, Target Character -2 to defense for remainder of battle.
Guardians 3000 Nikki Gold (https://i.imgur.com/ev7L3XY.jpg)
Play on Target Character as an attack. Attacks made on Target Character, including "Nikki Gold," may not be moved to any of Target's teammates for remainder of game.
Guardians 3000 Starhawk (https://i.imgur.com/8E84NSW.jpg)
Play in current battle. Negates the effect of next Event card played by Opponent. Opponent may still draw for played Event. Guardians 3000 may draw 1 card from top of Draw Pile.
Guardians 3000 Yondu (https://i.imgur.com/ndCkCCC.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. May be used against Reserve, who may defend. If successful against Reserve, Guardians 3000 may attack Reserve for remainder of game.
nice! makes me kind of wish that Martinex & Yondu were above-grid mechanics like Charlie, but that might have made them too much.
this is another comic i missed - i didn't realize they got rebooted in 2014. (i assume all the art is from that series.) my thoughts of them were from the series back in the 70's.
Quote from: Tussin on December 03, 2017, 01:33:49 PM
lol Groot with 4 Intellect.
i gave him a 6I! based on the 60's version, he performed biological experiments on inhabitants of the planets he invaded. not really smart enough for a 7 or 8, but a solid 6. its a shame how much his character has been decreased - especially his power of speech. but kid's love saying "I am Groot!", and it sells, so it is what it is.
Yeah, I just ran across the new comics too. I'm excited to actually read them, they are by Abnett and Lanning also. I remember the 90's comics by Valentino. The art for the character card, Major Victory, Yondu and Martinex are from the new series.
Going to be doing some x-men characters next. Got a frame worked out for them. 1st up will be Selene. Going to have a very specific theme with her.
figure i'd better add something here so we could tell when you came back to this one.
I'm back. I've redone all of the Character cards for this set so that the titles are the correct size. I"ve listed all those in the first post now.
One new character. I finally decided on stats and specials for Thanos.
Thanos 7 1 8 7 23 (https://i.imgur.com/rhJqCZ2.jpg)
Thanos Infinity Quest (https://i.imgur.com/e7vFJN7.jpg)
Add 3 to Venture Total for this battle, +1 for each Mission in your Completed Missions Pile if your Mission is "The Infinity Guantlet".
Thanos Mad God (https://i.imgur.com/3vHQuq5.jpg)
Acts as a level 8 Any-Power attack. Does not count toward Spectrum KO.
Thanos Mistress Death (https://i.imgur.com/zpIsIaN.jpg)
Thanos cannot be Spectrum KO'd for remainder of game.
Thanos Power Hungry (https://i.imgur.com/T7YDH2q.jpg)
Thanos may play any Artifact card on himself for remainder of game.
Thanos Titan (https://i.imgur.com/EYg2eRW.jpg)
Avoid 1 attack.
Thanos Universal Threat (https://i.imgur.com/ToGrDJf.jpg)
Acts as a level 11 Energy, Strength, or Intellect attack. Thanos' team may not attack for remainder of battle.
Terrax went to a 7E 7S. Jack Of Hearts got an inherent ability. Another nod the the "scanalyzer".
Jack Of Hearts 7 3 5 4 19 (https://i.imgur.com/Fq1dZGD.jpg)
Intellect Power cards are +2 when used to contribute to a Teamwork attack.
I went ahead and looked at Justa's cards for Ronan when I was done. They are pretty different. We duplicated some titles but not much in the way of mechanics.
Ronan 7 4 7 4 22 (https://i.imgur.com/vcYMJry.jpg)
Ronan Accuser Corps (https://i.imgur.com/tOMXL1L.jpg)
Discard all cards not usable by Ronan from hand. Replace with same number of cards from Draw Pile. May keep duplicates.
Ronan Guardian Of Hala (https://i.imgur.com/tYr47dA.jpg)
Avoid 1 attack made with a Power card or remove 1 Power card Hit from Ronan or teammate.
Ronan Hammer Of The Law (https://i.imgur.com/M15zySr.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Fighting attack. If successful, Opponent must discard from Hand until both players have an equal number of cards in Hand. Opponent's choice.
Ronan Kree Battle Armor (https://i.imgur.com/w4khtrE.jpg)
Ronan may follow up a Universe: Teamwork card with any Power card, regardless of Power Type, for remainder of game.
Ronan Pound It Home (https://i.imgur.com/dyvFIqj.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. May combine with 1 Strength card for a single attack.
Ronan Universal Weapon (https://i.imgur.com/4kTcFrm.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Any-Power card. May be used to attack or defend. May not be combined with Universe cards.
i like the changes to Terrax & Jack Of Hearts.
excellent job on Thanos. your character card is the 17th! version of him i've seen, all with different grids (or an IA, not that he needs one); and your grid makes a lot of sense. and only 1 of your specials was a duplicate (the AG) among 46 that others have made!
i especially liked 2: Power Hungry (perfect for him) and Infinity Quest (2 other specials penalized the Opponent for using Infinity Gauntlet - your's is the first to benefit Thanos directly for using it). good work!
Nice job Fennshysa! It feels right for Thanos to have a 1 fighting, clumsy but hits hard! Justa, I'm impressed that you know, and were able to look up quickly, so many of the custom cards that have been made!

its just a matter of opening the file and looking for me. no great shakes.
Thanks! A couple of those other Thanos cards were mine from a long time ago along with about 8 Specials. This was the closest that i could come to representing him while staying within the classic guidelines for grids. I refused to drop either the Energy or Intellect below 7 so he's a touch better than Darkseid.
Those 2 were my favorites too! He was always after objects of power so the mechanics of Power Hungry seemed correct. I've been bugged by the blandness of mission cards. I realize that's probably why Events were introduced but I've been wanting to do more with the Mission cards. This seemed like the perfect place to do so. I conceptualized it as each completed Mission is him gathering an Infinity Gem so he gets stronger.
According to the Wiki entry he is a skilled fighter too but like you said, he usually just blasts or destroys or schemes. So since i had to reduce 1 grid rating that seemed like the one to go. But he can always super soldier serum himself with Power Hungry.
One day I need to send Justa a flash drive and ask for a copy of his archive.
just so that you are aware, my archive is stored at screen resolution (~96 dpi). (obviously, they don't show the richness of the originals.) i started it that way because i could only store them on CD back then, and i needed to save space. while now extra memory is a piece of cake, i still do the same for consistency. since i retired, i've been able to catalog most of them in excel files (specifically Character & Specials, and Locations & Aspects).
i'm always happy to share information, but i won't post cards made by others.
edit: you slipped Ronan in after i had posted, so i missed it. you also dodged all the mechanics bios used for his specials. looks good!
i like what is see but what no 2 fighting for thanos LOL you know 23 points feels more deserving
Fair enough justa.
I think that is the corrected Inherent for the Beyonder.
Beyonder (https://i.imgur.com/fIwFSfx.jpg)
Counts as 28 points for Tournament Deckbuilding. May play any teammate's Special cards. May not play "One Per Deck" Special cards.
Genis-Vell was an odd one to make. I never read any of his comics so i had to read the wiki entries. Seems like he was crazy and switching personas all the time. So i made 2 specials of his different identities and 2 specials that were good but could hurt him. Best i could come up with.
Genis-Vell 7 4 6 3 20 (https://i.imgur.com/FN8A9O3.jpg)
Genis-Vell Captain Marvel (https://i.imgur.com/cEN2ROg.jpg)

Genis-Vell Kree Soldier (https://i.imgur.com/SZkOnN0.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. Teammate may play 1 additional Special card.
Genis-Vell Nega-Bands (https://i.imgur.com/iCKLjrs.jpg)

Genis-Vell Unstable Cosmic Awareness (https://i.imgur.com/d6tHQjf.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Intellect attack. If successful, Genis-Vell or Genis-Vell teammates may not defend Genis-Vell with Special cards for remainder of game.
nice take on him. and the NX isn't so bad - play it late in the hand - there's less chance it will be avoided, and the penalty doesn't hurt much if it is.
i must admit: my 1st thought after seeing the Captain Marvel/Photon combo was Monica Rambeau. but she also had Pulsar & Spectrum to her resume. sort of like Phyla Vell, or the Donna Troy of the Marvel Universe: a decent identity in search of a stable character.
Man! He has got some attack power with two 7 attack specials a 9 and a 4! and the 9 is not even a OPD! He will work well with an aggressive team or a nice addition to a defensive team to balance it out. Has anyone come up with their own IA for Beyonder that makes him easier to add to a team (smaller than 28 points) but yet is still powerful? All of the changes I can think of just don't feel like they fit right.
Quotea decent identity in search of a stable character.
;D That's a pretty good quote.
QuoteHe has got some attack power with two 7 attack specials a 9 and a 4! and the 9 is not even a OPD!
Hmmmm. I hadn't thought about that too much. I wonder if i should trim that back. I made the Nega Bands a CC instead of a defensive special so that if the 9I hit he wouldn't have a wasted defensive special in his hand. I wonder if i should change that.
I have not thought about changing the Beyonder. Although for a long time i thought his grid total was whatever the highest values on your team were. Was that how it worked before the current ruling?
Hoping to have Hyperion done this evening and maybe a few locations.
are you planning any other members of the Squadron Supreme?
No I had not planned on that. But maybe at least a Squadron Supreme team character in the Avengers set. This one took longer than i had planned.
I really wanted to do the Original Earth-712 Hyperion (I think he's the original) but I couldn't find enough art for him. So I did this one a little different. 4 Specials reference Hyperion (generic) the characters are all subtitled which leaves some interesting options on how to build a team. I'll probably at least add 1 more specific special for each version and maybe more versions of Hyperion later. I'd like to add the evil King Hyperion version from Exiles in later.

712 is the version i am most familiar with. you got that grid pretty much spot on. it does present some interesting choices in terms of grid. but... since i am not a fan of the legacy AE mechanic, i'll stick to the 712 version, as is my personal preference.
Just a quick addition.

Knowhere team may draw 1 card from top of Draw Pile immediately after playing any Tactic: Doubleshot card for defense. May keep duplicates.
*fixed that link. Thanks.
Making tactic: doubleshot cards more viable, I like it! You may want to update your post as the BBcode you used to post the link has a typo in it.
i considered doing the original line up back when i was doing GotG, but went with the Support location instead. looks good! wish i could do a font like that... :(
Justa had already done this one. Looks like we approached it pretty differently. Yes, there grid total is 18 for deckbuilding. If you put them with Cyclops, Jubile and Colossus their grid would be 6-4-5-6. If you put them with Holocaust, Erradicator and Super Skrull they would be 7-4-7-6 but if Super Skrull gets KO first then they would be 6-4-6-6.
Phalanx 4 4 4 6 18 (https://i.imgur.com/EBHFZj7.jpg)
Energy, Fighting and Strength Power Grid totals are +1 for each teammate with rating >5 in that type.
Phalanx Babel Spire (https://i.imgur.com/VWZUVJw.jpg)
Opponent may not draw any cards for remainder of battle.
Phalanx Overwhelm And Infect (https://i.imgur.com/WpRRUFb.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Fighting attack. If successful, may immediately make an additional attack against target's teammate using any card placed to target.
Phalanx Select (https://i.imgur.com/rdvNWhQ.jpg)
Phalanx may Place and play any of target teammate's Special cards for remainder of game.
Phalanx Super Adaptoid (https://i.imgur.com/Xgf3GJo.jpg)
This Special acts identical to any Special currently on the table.
Phalanx Techno-Organic Assimilation (https://i.imgur.com/62iykqU.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Energy attack. If successful, remove 1 hit from Phalanx's Permanent Record.
Phalanx Ultron Revealed (https://i.imgur.com/hjGbtKd.jpg)
Opponent must move 1 Mission Card from his Completed Missions Pile to his Reserve Missions Pile.
Still working on her specials.
Moondragon 7 6 3 4 20 (https://i.imgur.com/ngtnsll.jpg)
Phalanx
things i like most of what you did: the 5 OPDs limit their participation somewhat, but prevent them from being too overwhelming while appropriately representing their powers. i made my Special that's like Select (Techno-Organic Absorption) a non-OPD, so it allows non-OPD Specials only.
things i wasn't too keen on: i saw them more as Energy than Intellect. (most of what they do is instinct, not intelligence.) and i know its nit-picky, but i believe the art you used on the character card is technically the Technarchy, of which the Phalanx is an off-shoot. but they may have retconed the origins of the Phalanx, so i could be wrong on that one.
i'll wait for the specials to comment on Moondragon.
That's a scan right out of the Annihilation Conquest series. The Phalanx from the X-Men storylines looked more like Magus and Warlock. When they introduced them in AC they had a different look, which in hindsight I think was a visual clue about Ultron because they definitely look more like him than Magus. I was actually thinking about doing two versions of the Phalanx, and AC one and an X-Men one but I couldn't find a panel from AC to convey their Assimilation abilities as well as the X-Men era pictures. Maybe later if I do.
I figured their sneakiness could be represented as the Intellect while the other skills depended on what they absorbed into their collective.
i concede on the art. i really liked AC (except maybe some of the Wraith parts), but i didn't remember that pic from it. guess i'll have to re-read it in the near future.
on the grid we'll have to agree to disagree. in my view, energy is prime due to their origin and their abilities for self-transport and to reprogram organic beings. as you said, other skills are more based on what they absorb. i capped the intellect fairly low because i think their "sneakiness" is just an instinctual program to multiply, conquer, and eventually call in the Technarchy to come in and clean up. even the Select were blunted in their initiative by the constrictions of the desires of the Phalanx.
that being said, i'll repeat 3 things i've said earlier: 1) i do like your version, 2) everybody has their own different take on how character should function within OP, and 3) this is the fun and beauty of homemade cards. i know that when i reread AC, i'll be looking at the Phalanx in a slightly different light.
thanks, fennshysa!
I can see your point but this way we get two different ones. :)
Justa and anyone else..... Where would you put Carol Danvers grid wise?
as:
Binary
Ms. Marvel/Warbird
Captain Marvel (more current version)
i'd never really thought about it myself, since Carol's been done so many times by others. but i can share what i've seen:
as Binary: 7384
as Captain Marvel: 6474 & 8465
as Ms Marvel: 5474, 6363, 6474, 7573, & 7674 (counts as 22)
as Warbird: 8534
some also had IAs regarding Special card usage.
Thank you. That helped me decide.
Here are the Specials for my Moondragon
Moondragon Dragon Of The Moon (https://i.imgur.com/WVWTm8H.jpg)
Acts as a level 9 Energy, Fighting, Strength, or Intellect attack. Moondragon may not attack for remainder of battle.
Moondragon High Kick (https://i.imgur.com/N0n4932.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Strength attack.
Moondragon Mental Domination (https://i.imgur.com/je55OFy.jpg)
Moondragon and target hero may not attack for remainder of battle.
Moondragon Mind And Body (https://i.imgur.com/SvqJoU4.jpg)
Moondragon may combine Energy Power cards with Fighting Power cards for defense for remainder of game. May not be combined with Universe cards.
Moondragon Psychic Bolt (https://i.imgur.com/WX05Y0o.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Energy attack. If successful, Opponent must discard from Hand until both players have an equal number of cards in Hand. Opponent's choice.
Moondragon Shao-Lorn Acolyte (https://i.imgur.com/RbC9E0Z.jpg)
For remainder of game, if Moondragon's team discards cards during battle, Opponent must discard an equal number. Cards may be placed or in Hand.
Yes, Rom will eventually get a card. I had a hard tine deciding on stats but decided to go with the Dire Wraiths as an Energy character. I made the Inherent what it is to show how their shape assuming abilities can confuse the opponent.
Dire Wraiths 7 4 3 4 18 (https://i.imgur.com/ynStP9a.jpg)
+2 to Venture Total when "True Form" is played. Opponent -2 to Venture Total when "Assumed Form" is played.
Dire Wraiths Assumed Form (https://i.imgur.com/KITV5Xi.jpg)
Dire Wraiths may switch entire permanent record with any front line teammate.
Dire Wraiths Brain Drill (https://i.imgur.com/O49EHEv.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Fighting attack. If successful, Dire Wraiths gain skill levels of target character for remainder of battle.
Dire Wraiths Deathwings (https://i.imgur.com/u4Juz6T.jpg)
Target Character must discard 1 Placed card. If successful, Opponent must discard 1 card from Hand for each Hit on Dire Wraith's Permanent Record.
Dire Wraiths Hybrid (https://i.imgur.com/TzmGHY8.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Any-Power attack. If successful, Target Character loses Inherent Ability and is considered to have no Inherent Ability for remainder of Battle.
Dire Wraiths True Form (https://i.imgur.com/kPXTLu6.jpg)
Avoid 1 attack.
Dire Wraiths Volx (https://i.imgur.com/uq47xNe.jpg)
Acts as a level 8 Energy or Intellect attack. Attack is not affected by Special cards already in play.
Another themed type character much more effective against an Energy team. The youngest of the Summers brothers is the most powerful and most crazy.
Vulcan 8 3 3 3 17 (https://i.imgur.com/E6nxTRO.jpg)
+1 to defense vs. Characters with Energy Power Grid of 7 or 8.
Vulcan Emperor Vulcan (https://i.imgur.com/S4W2ILM.jpg)
Play during battle. At end of battle, opponent may only move 1 Mission card. Other Mission cards return to pile Ventured from.
Vulcan Energy Absorption (https://i.imgur.com/8jBdmXL.jpg)
Cards with an Energy icon do not count toward Vulcan's Spectrum or Cumulative KO for remainder of game.
Vulcan Energy Siphon (https://i.imgur.com/baJ0Ylf.jpg)
Opponent must immediately discard all cards with an Energy icon currently held in hand.
Vulcan Family Feud (https://i.imgur.com/UwZx6Z5.jpg)
Vulcan is +2 to all attacks against target character and +2 to defense from attacks made by target character for remainder of battle.
Vulcan Power Supression (https://i.imgur.com/P8mLVoS.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Intellect attack. If successful, Target Character may not play Special cards for remainder of battle.
Vulcan Rechannel (https://i.imgur.com/jUr2m87.jpg)
Avoid 1 attack with an Energy icon. Vulcan may draw 1 card from the top of the Draw Pile. Discard duplicates.
I will have a 3rd version of Carol Danvers at 5-4-7-4 but i haven't figured out her inherent ability yet.
Carol Danvers Binary (https://i.imgur.com/a6wqGIT.jpg) 7 4 8 4 23
Carol Danvers Captain Marvel (https://i.imgur.com/tDfXfA3.jpg) 7 4 7 4 22
a lot to digest all at once...
Moondragon - a slightly different take from what i had, but quite good. i feel you did her intellect a small injustice, but she does struggle with her "inner-dragon" at times, so i can see it. also, the art on Mind And Body and Psychic Bolt is a little too similar for my taste. but very clean looking pics, i must say.
Dire Wraiths - another OP first for me. great addition! i add here that, when we talked Rom/Spaceknights before, i don't think i mentioned that Rom hasn't been a Marvel character for 31 years now (Hasbro owns him). so he might not be appropriate for "Marvel Cosmic". but i think he (and they) should make it into the game anyways, so why not?
Vulcan - Gabe's another OP first for me, though i think you made him slightly too powerful. the grid is fine (or maybe a 4 strength), but the IA is overkill. his specials convey that power. and between the IA and Energy Absorption, Rechannel seems a bit of a waste. teammate avoid would be more helpful, but he isn't really the sort of character to be defending others. i wish i could think of a worthy suggestion for that one, but i'm coming up blank for now.
Carol Danvers - will you be doing just Carol Danvers specials (like chuu did)? or will you have general and specific specials like you did for Hyperion?
love the work, fennshysa!
A couple of those Moondragon pictures were a bit same and bland but i decided to use them all since they came form the same source and gave it an overall together feel. As for Rom and the Dire Wratihs, I like classic stuff. Plus the Dire Wraiths were the villains of the Annihilators.
As for Gabriel Summers you are right that he is a bit overkill. But he is the guy who took on the X-Men and Imperial Guard and kicked their butts. I figured he becomes a bit of a Meta character. He will wreck havoc on an Energy Deck but be not all that great against a Strength deck.
Wraith was pretty interesting character that got introduced during the Annihilation Conquest Storyline. Visually interesting with a neat background that fit into the story ok. When the infected Ronan was torturing Wraith it was pretty creepy. You realized Wraith couldn't really die easily and he kind of liked the torture. Though what they were thinking with the space cycle and funky gun/sword/whip thing I'm not sure.
Wraith 7 5 5 2 19 (https://i.imgur.com/tYwRVax.jpg)
Wraith's numeric Specials are +1 for each KO'd teammate.
Wraith Exolon Membrane (https://i.imgur.com/QNszvpM.jpg)
Remove 1 Hit from Wraith's Permanent Record or Hits from Current Battle.
Wraith Exolon Swarm (https://i.imgur.com/FgA9nX3.jpg)
Opponent must immediately discard all Special cards in play that affect the "remainder of the Battle" or the "remainder of the Game".
Wraith Lonely Quest (https://i.imgur.com/ZZVXTnt.jpg)
Wraith may make 1 or 2 follow up attacks after Wraith plays a Universe: Teamwork card for remainder of game.
Wraith Nameless Conditioning (https://i.imgur.com/K4B5qCS.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Intellect attack +1 for each hit on Wraith's permanent record.
Wraith Polymorphic Weapon (https://i.imgur.com/5f0lKlZ.jpg)
Acts as a level 8 Energy, Strength, Fighting, or Intellect attack.
Wraith Space Cycle (https://i.imgur.com/0PMgbND.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. If successful, Wraith may not attack or be attacked for remainder of battle.
I'm not sure on Carol Danvers yet. Maybe like Hyperion, probably not.

i agree.
WOW! i never thought i'd see Zak-Del in OP, where he was pretty much a one-and-done. they spent so much time on his origin story just to fit him into AC, then it seems they gave up on him. plus they killed off Praxagora, who had just started in Annihilation. i guess not enough people thought they were "popular" enough to keep running. and i though his weapon was cool. (but the cycle?....)
Yeah. He would have made a nice subplot running around during the war of King storyline. Messing things up even more.
oh man, i was thinking the same thing. ;D
Well, here are specials for Carol Danvers. No particular theme, just a blend of effects. I decided to make only a generic set of specials, not themed to a particular version of her character. I did leave it at only two OPDs so maybe later she can get an OPD for each persona.
Additionally, I think that my Cosmic Marvel set is almost wrapped up. I will definitely be adding specials for Drax, Carol Danvers: Warbird (or Ms Marvel) and probably a character card and special set for The Annihilation Wave and Rom. Some more locations and Aspects will be added and eventually a couple Mission/Event sets (hopefully, I want to make them, just don't enjoy the process so much). The Badoon will not be appearing, just couldn't find enough art to even start. I contemplated Mantis, Praxagoria, Ravenous and Stardust but I don't think they will make the cut either.
Thank you to OP3 for this update of the CQ special.
Carol Danvers American Hero (https://i.imgur.com/ha6Dlia.jpg)
All of Carol Danvers' Team's Special cards are doubled when determining Venture Total this battle.
Carol Danvers Binary Powers (https://i.imgur.com/CU2bjKV.jpg)
Discard any number of cards usable by Carol Danvers from hand. Replace with same number of cards from Draw Pile. May keep duplicates.
Carol Danvers Cosmic Avenger (https://i.imgur.com/m60RxdA.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Energy attack. May make 1 additional attack.
Carol Danvers Cut Loose (https://i.imgur.com/TRLoOD1.jpg)
Acts as a level 10 Energy attack.
Carol Danvers Enhanced Physiology (https://i.imgur.com/nMFmuip.jpg)
Remove 1 Hit from Carol Danvers' Hits From the Current Battle.
Carol Danvers Photonic Energy (https://i.imgur.com/FWKmMSp.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Energy attack. May not be defended with a Special card.
this is very similar to how chuu set up his cards for Carol. seems like all the art is from her Captain Marvel identity.
yeah, Praxagoria was short lived. might've made a decent team-up with Super Skrull.
I shall have to look at his version. Current art is usually better and bigger so that's why it's all current costume.
yeah - i noticed that a lot when i was working on my DC characters. i am more familiar with the older characters, and a lot of times i couldn't find the art to do what i wanted that was of high enough resolution.
Kree Galaxy
Captain Mar-Vell 6-6-6-4 (22)
Genis-Vell 7-4-6-3 (20)
Kree 6-5-4-7 (22)
Pyla-Vell 7-3-5-4 (19)
Ronan 7-4-7-4 (22)
Wraith 7-5-5-2 (19)
Over grid and complimentary grids. I need a mildly bad inherent at least.
Shi'ar Galaxy
Deathbird
Gladiator
Shi'ar
Starjammers
Vulcan
Need a 6th character. (Jean Grey: Dark Phoenix? Professor X? Neither quite feels right. Any votes for them or other suggestions?)
name suggestions: (for style points, not that it matters 1 way or the other)
Kree- "Empire" instead of "Galaxy"; or Hala.
Shi'ar- again "Empire" or "Imperium"; or the Aerie; or Chandilar.
"Galaxy" is too wide open for non-race members, and your lists seem very focused. justa sayin'......
for Kree IA, best i can come up with would be the IA on Blue Area Of The Moon. probably should drop it down to -1 VT since there are no 8 Energy characters listed.
for Shi'ar, my first thought is Lillandra, though i've never seen her done as a stand-alone in OP so you'd have to make her as well. otherwise, i'm stumped on that one.
...sometimes i feel like the only kid in class willing to raise their hand and risk an answer...
I thank you for raising your hand. Though I didn't listen. I figured out what new character I might like to make down the road. But first....
Annihilation Wave 6 7 7 1 21 (https://i.imgur.com/wTiw9Wh.jpg)
Annihilation Wave Admiral Salo (https://i.imgur.com/LwBAL6Z.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Intellect attack. May be used against Character in Reserve, who may defend.
Annihilation Wave Endless Horde (https://i.imgur.com/UB3kGvj.jpg)
The Annihilation Wave's hits to KO number is increased to 30.
Annihilation Wave Fleet (https://i.imgur.com/OyCdaL5.jpg)
Acts as a level 11 Any-Power attack. Does not count toward Spectrum KO.
Annihilation Wave Queen (https://i.imgur.com/YmyHBvE.jpg)
Acts as a level 4 Energy attack, may make 1 additional attack.
Annihilation Wave Ravenous (https://i.imgur.com/kMBeI7W.jpg)
Acts as a level 6 Energy attack. If successful, Opponent is -4 to Venture Total.
Annihilation Wave Swarm (https://i.imgur.com/onCjP6u.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Fighting attack.
One reprint so i don't have to pay $100 for a card.
Any Character Devourer Of Worlds (https://i.imgur.com/UB9oMjd.jpg)
Play during battle. Opponent cannot use Activator cards for remainder of game or until this Special has been attacked with 4 Activator card attacks. This Special may not be negated.
A few more locations. I realized that Smasher was a character i'd like to make at some point in the future so i added her as the 6th character for the Shi'ar. No Inherent because they are an over gird total but their grids are not complementary.
Chandrilar (https://i.imgur.com/fvanqJr.jpg)
Deathbird
Gladiator
The Shi'ar
Smasher
The Starjammers
Vulcan
When M'Krann Crystal is played The Shi'ar may discard 1 card; place 1 card on the bottom and return 4 cards to the top of The Draw Pile.
The United Front team from the Annihilation series. They are overgrid and somewhat complementary. The Inherent was thematic and I have no idea how it would hold up in real play.
Daedalus 5 (https://i.imgur.com/fE4bGED.jpg)
Drax
Gamora
The Kree
Nova
Ronan
Starlord
Daedalus 5 team may not concede and team's KO'd characters are not discarded until the end of the battle.
Thank you justa. I took both suggestions and used them. (technically the art is not a Kree world since i couldn't find a good enough piece but it should be generic enough to work.)
The Kree Empire (https://i.imgur.com/u1bEYsE.jpg)
Captain Mar-Vell
The Kree
Ronan
Phyla-Vell
Genis-Vell
Wraith
The Kree Empire Team's Energy Power Cards are -1 to The Kree Empire Team's Venture Total when they Hit.
Knowhere Cosmo (https://i.imgur.com/a0ZDKus.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Energy attack.
i like your portrayal of the Wave. no brains, no defense, just mindless attacks. i was expecting some connection with Annihilus, but they don't need it.
Chandilar feels incomplete without an IA to me. take a look at the legacy versions of Asteroid "M" and Stark Enterprises - might something in a similar vein to those IAs fit your site? keep in mind that besides the disparate grids, you also have to deal with A) few of the characters can offer defensive Special support, and B) no negates. a little help on the KO side wouldn't hurt. justa thought...
Daedalus 5: great IA for them.
Kree Empire - i thought there was a decent shot of Hala landscape near the beginning of Annihilation Conquest. somewhere around when the Spaceknight showed that he was owned by the Phalanx, or maybe it was when Quill visited the prison at Aladon Prime (but that wouldn't be Hala, would it?). i don't know.
Cosmo - thinking thematically, it seems too much to me. i see him as more defensive, and he doesn't go looking for trouble. a non-OPD high level attack card does seem right. justa my opinion...
creative new stuff, fennshysa. thanks.
You are right. I got lazy with Cosmo. I'm thinking maybe scrap that and make a card with the Continuum Cortex. LL&L's Warp Chamber would be a perfect fit. But I'm afraid with Adam Warlock already having a JB Special in my Marvels set that might be too much resurrection power. How about a non-OPD version of Warp Chamber, "Switch places with Reserve, remove 1 hit."?
You are right on Chandrilar too. I like those inherents but Deathbird and Vulcan having 3 3's would make them too hard to Cumulative KO. How about a simplified version of FFPlaza? "Chandrilar team may defend teammates with Power cards."
Cosmo isn't a healer. i was thinking mental powers - communications between team member, psychic defense, protect my home turf and what's under my control, acquiring help, something along those lines. but sometimes i fear that i am steering your creations too much - like if it makes that much of a difference to me, i should create my own. (i did create a stand alone version of Cosmo, and built it along the lines stated.) in the end, it's your call. we all have our own view points, which is one of the many reasons i love OP.
FFPlaza on Chandilar might work. i hadn't thought of that. but for an over-grid team, it might be too much. i'll have to think about it some.
The Continuum Cortex instead of Cosmo for the Aspect card. Seemed like that would match Landu Luckman and Lake's Aspect.
Added an inherent to Chandilar in the previous post.
Carol Danvers Warbird 5 4 7 4 20 (https://i.imgur.com/rs5CxfT.jpg)
May play any "6 to use" Teamwork card.
I have never read the original Rom so I'm not sure how well i did this one.
Rom 4 4 7 4 19 (https://i.imgur.com/ZreQLI9.jpg)
May keep 1 duplicate level 4 MultiPower Power card.
Rom Brandy Clark (https://i.imgur.com/5m6cY9L.jpg)
Rom's team's Universe: Ally cards are +2 for remainder of game.
Rom Galadorian Hero (https://i.imgur.com/BK6UM8j.jpg)
Add 7 to Venture total for this battle.
Rom Galactic Guardian (https://i.imgur.com/X0YXlvc.jpg)
For remainder of game, Rom may Draw 1 card from top of Draw Pile for each Universe Ally card played by Rom. Discard duplicates.
Rom Heavy Armor (https://i.imgur.com/96X2DWO.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Energy, Fighting, Strength, or Intellect attack.
Rom Neutralizer (https://i.imgur.com/hRD8h3e.jpg)
Negates the effects of any 1 Special card. May not be used to avoid a numerical attack, or remove a numerical hit.
Rom Spaceknight (https://i.imgur.com/L8EhsB7.jpg)
Teammate may avoid 1 attack.
Finally got around to Drax's Special cards.
Drax Avatar Of Life (https://i.imgur.com/0DFW4bO.jpg)
Drax gains a +2 to all actions for remainder of battle (+3 against Thanos).
Drax Battleaxe (https://i.imgur.com/KJS1oCp.jpg)
Acts as a level 5 Any-Power attack. May make 1 additional attack.
Drax Destroyer (https://i.imgur.com/fZUEPU8.jpg)
Acts as a level 7 Strength attack. If Target Character is K.O.'d by this Hit, Drax may move 1 Mission card from the Defeated Pile to the Completed Pile. Opponnent must move 1 from the Completed Pile to the Defeated pile if KO'd character was Thanos.
Drax Guardian (https://i.imgur.com/CNIGUNO.jpg)
Teammate may avoid 1 attack of 9 or less. Opponent must discard 1 card from Hand. Opponents choice.
Drax Pointy Objects (https://i.imgur.com/AHhb4Ku.jpg)
Acts as a level 3 Fighting attack. May make 1 additional Power card attack. Neither attack may be defended with a Special card.
Drax Unintimidated (https://i.imgur.com/0DtG8Wu.jpg)
Drax's Placed cards may not be played, moved or discarded by Opponent for remainder of game.
That's it for Characters and Specials in this set. I need a few more Aspect cards, maybe a few locations and some Mission Event sets.
Love the Thanos synergy. Nice touch : )
love the IA for Chandilar! it makes a pretty useless card into something worth playing.
nice variant on Warbird.
Rom: i read a fair bit of him back when he first came out. you seem to have the more modern version, with the higher strength level. back then i would have only put him at 6. (maybe 6565- counts as 20 - with something extra like Power cards are +1 against characters with stats above 6. the extra energy points because his suit absorbed solar power, which could be used offensively.) but a yours seems to be a fair version, and the 1st i've ever seen with specials.
are you going to do Smasher to fill out the Chandilar set?
EDIT: also, in review of your set (29 characters counting Smasher), i noticed Nova. did you already do him? (Dec of '16? but that had 7 Specials) or was that somebody else? my memory doesn't always work so good. there have been 4.5 versions of him created that i've seen, so it isn't necessary or anything. justa wondering if you hadn't done him, do you plan on doing your own take on him?
2nd EDIT: never mind. i found him in one of your Marvels threads. i'll have to go back through your other sets & look for apparent "omissions".
I'm done characters in the Cosmic Set. I'll try and get Smasher into the X-Men set but she probably won't make it until later. I'm looking at another small set for the Champions with newer young characters from the last 5 years, she might fit in there as an extra.
As to Rom, I freely admit, probably could be better but will be staying as is.
Nova made it into my first set for sure. Richard Rider is one of my favorite characters. He was one of my favorites even before he grew up and saved the galaxy multiple times. Then he just got better. I did just finish reading the entire Sam Alexander Nova series. Pretty good. That's what made me really start thinking about a Champions set. Not as good as Rider but a pretty nice read.
@Photonicide. Thanks! I wish i could do more like that with overpower but it doesn't really lend itself to specific match-ups. I figured since Thanos was so powerful he could use a character that could counter him. + I'm a sucker for theme.
