AT specials and deck size (number of cards)

Does anyone play these?  Are they worth taking up a cards slot in a deck? 

Also, what's generally a good number of cards to play?  Do you keep the card count in multiples of 8?

did you read the history of OP by Onslaught? He spent a great deal of time talking about the metamorphosis of deck construction and the ratio of power-cards to "other" cards in a deck that plays events.... seriously. if you have not read the Onslaught articles on here you need to do so. you WILL be a better player if you do....

AT's are pretty much a waste of space at this stage of the games development.  At best it's a turn delay and a possible second level 7 power card or a usefull special, but you're still just trading one card for one and most decks are built to minimize dupes anyways.

There's a reason that only 2 characters were given this special after Powersurge came out.

Also most of the guys I play against use a very streamlined deck, usually with the bare minimum card count (51 or 56) in order to get to their powerful cards faster.

agreed, this card has no place in a deck.  while some people like to use them to stall, the rare times you'll draw an event or unusable make it more of a hinderance

I'll use them occasionally. the Event issue is definitely a problem with them. on the flipside, their best use is probably found if they can be placed/kept to the Power Pack. having said that, though, it's tough to justify letting them keep the Special-place-slot for most of the people that have them (if not ALL of the people)

AT Specials are quite useful in BBH's Mexican Standoff (3 Player) Overpower.  Good for a turn delay while your other two opponents are burning cards on one another for a round.

Other than that, don't use them at all in any normal rules deck.

I've always thought that these specials should have been changed and re released as "Draw 2 cards, do not discard duplicates." That seems to make sense balance wise. Some characters can draw 3 and discard dupes, others draw 2, but don't. That seems fair to me.

Maybe AT's can be Draw To Replac.  You keep one duplicate, then if you draw another on the replacement draw, you chuck it.  Might be a good house rule.
