Just how rare are the accidental inserts?

I just bought a box of Classic and as I expected, I did not get any of the accidental inserts.

Out of curiosity though, just how rare are those things?

BigBadHarve

Extremely.

It was suggested to me that no more than 100 of the Any Power Teamworks were ever printed.

The Image inducer, Krakoa base, and the Xavier Protocols are probably the easiest to come by, and they'll run you $15 or more each.

The Deal with the Devil, Avenger's ID and AP teamwork much, much more. I've never even seen them.

Wow.

I've seen numerous Krakoas and Image Inducers selling for around $25. I've never even seen the other four.

Thanks.

A buddy of mine and I bought a lot of cards on eBay once and it had an Avenger's ID Card in it. I let him have it because it didn't seem useful to me. I had no idea how increadibly rare it was. I have no idea where it is, now...  :-\

Ouch.

I haven't seen any of these things either that I can remember, though I do remember hearing about the AP teamwork back in the day.

Well there are two answers to that question. First, although I've heard of people pulling them from boxes they do genuinely appear to have been a very rare pull - way less than 1 per box. 1 per 10 boxes may be closer to the mark.

However the actual cards were, I think, printed up at the same time as Classic and were intended for promos so should have been printed in reasonable quantities. Whether they were a genuine 'accidental' insert or really a teaser I don't know. So in theory there are thousands of these cards out there.

As OverPower went through its death throes though and offices were cleaned out and moved and moved again these cards continued to move around but somehow dwindled down to only 4 (Krakoa, Image Inducer, Deal with the Devil and Xavier Protocols). Some of these cards dribbled onto the secondary market via the final few tournament prizes etc.

I don't know if the stack of Avengers ID cards and Any Power Teamworks ever turned up. Last time I looked at ebay etc they were much rarer and the Image Inducer and the others were more common.

About a year ago i saw the Avengers ID Cards AND the Anypower Teamwork on ebay for $900+. I did not purchase them, but it was pretty cool to see the screenshots of them.

Wow. That's quite a lot for two cards. And I thought getting the holo heroes would stretch my budget. Not sure I'll ever be getting those.

Anyone else remember when there was an uncut sheet of the accidental inserts on e-bay? This was back before OverPower died so there was some decent interest. Even so, with no-one sure if and how the cards would eventually be released, I think (and I could be remembering this wrong) I dropped out of the bidding at around $700 and I don't think it went much higher (again I could be remembering this wrong).

Also, and this is probably just a coincidence, even though the Avengers ID card and Anypower teamwork seem to be the rarest (due to the other 4 being sent out as tournament prizes etc) most of the examples I've heard of people actually pulling them from packs have been these two cards. Probably a coincidence.

An uncut sheet with the accidental inserts on them? Yikes...

I still kick myself over forgetting to bid on an uncut sheet of the Onslaught promos (it ended at a really low price, like 30 bucks).

I remember those auctions too, I chickened out after a while but managed to snag the JLA missions uncut. Useless, but still a good piece of OP memorabilia.

Actually I won an auction for an uncut sheet with 30 accidental inserts on it. There were 5 of each one of them. I think I spent about $360, including shipping expenses. Since I didn't knew the seller at the time and it was a resonable amount of money, I asked Gary Martin Jr to act as a liaison for the trade.

I also had to invest an additional $ 50 to make a special knife to cut the cards properly. But it worth the price. I kept one of each insert for myself and sold the others for about $ 20 - $ 30 each and $ 50 for the Anypower TW. The sheet also had many rare cards from Classic, like Heroes for Hire and lots of OPDs.

CoS

that is AMAZING Bios! Just think how much that sheet would be worth now.....
