These won't be done in time for the K2 tournament in March, but if you've got $12 for a 100-card set of The Marvels, check out OPL's Kickstarter

This was spotted on the Rage forum. Does the kickstarter have permission from Marvel/Fleer for the game, and to use the art?

I should clarify, this is a question of curiosity rather than anything else. Rage has issues with these things.

This is a non-profit project and noncommercial, strictly for personal use. which falls into the "Fair Use" category of copyright law. Also if he/she uses artwork created by him/her and is not 'sold' then it is also legal to use characters of 'comics'. Artist at comic conventions do this all the time and don't have 'copyright' to the characters they draw, by hand or digitally. I believe all the 'donated' moneys go directly to the 'cost' of printing the cards and he/she is paying for shipping

LOL. Interesting to see they are protecting their property.

It's Disney...

Disney would shut down any project that infringes on its license, regardless of whether they intended to pursue that particular right themselves, so don't get your hopes up

Perhaps an Overpower Kickstarter should be formed that has Marvel's permission.

Yes, exactly. It might just prompt them to have a look at this property and consider it, given the huge popularity of the Marvel movies. I'm already dreaming of a relaunch!  ;D

Sorry guys. I don't pretend to understand copyright law, especially in a different country, but other Rage fans do. We are covered to make stuff for the original Rage by agreement with the copyright owner CCP:
QuoteRage stuff is more or less fine so long as it doesn't interfere with CCPs ability to defend its intellectual property and does not involve any money.
On the other hand, Hasbro completely shut down any chance of fan sets for Rage: Tribal War (the one made by Five Rings).

As I understand it, money changing hands immediately makes all sorts of things complicated even if it's just for costs.

Still, I was really hoping this might work because it would have set a tempting precedent.

I had tried working with marvel on an idea like this and they ultimately decided against it.  The main reason, perhaps, was the current 'Legendary' card game.

Post-Disney, Marvel requires licensees meet very steep minimums, and while they don't have an 'exclusive' agreement with upper deck, it would be bad business to give 2 people similar licenses with similar minimums and ask them to compete.

I will be watching my google alerts every day for the day it says that marvel is discontinuing legendary..
