Beyonder can play on a team with 2 people with 8 energy.  Strength has Hulk, Morlocks, Thing & old Namor as options (one per team though).  Intellect has Mr. F and he's a great anchor for a team. But fighting....3 grid and 4 grid heroes are expensive even the 7's!  an AO user worth 17 and 7 fighting : nice!  A hero with 8F @ a cost of 17 NIce(r).  Chuu's Babes expansion has a lot of fighting heroes that are cool but none 8F at 17.  I guess this is my birthday/holiday wish list.  thanks for allowing me to vent

can't help with the fighting 17, but here's a deck that could be interesting

any one of the four 3-grid 10 heroes (jubilee/morph/Samson/doppelganger).  they would all work great

you'd have a lot of flexibility with this deck.  you could stash maverick in reserve to keep an 8 grid longer, or put him up front to double up on the power card avoid/draws.  you could also use 2 or 3 legacy regressions, and any number of devastating events; or just go with the straight forward ko event.

doppelgangers 'great power' would work great with mav's avoid/draw (putting it back on top, and redrawing it to avoid discards), as would his anti-concede card when you know you'll be drawing.

Samson works great for the additional 7s tw, and the KL if you want to use a site

jubilee of course brings 3 fantastic defensive specials

morph has a bunch of different attacks, and his two massive opds

I have seen what you are looking for....
            but whether you'd ever be allowed to use them would be in question.

Iron Fist - 5844 (IA Counts as 17 for TDB)  {this came from justabgkid's emporium}

Shang Chi: Master Of Kung Fu - 2843 {i think this was from jack in an OPOnline release}

i apologize to whom it may concern if i cited the wrong source for some of the cards.  some i don't remember where i found them (been doing it for a long while).  none of them are my work, so i can't post them without permission.  but i do so love how people have expanded the game since it went out of production.

There's an 8F at 17 points in my upcoming DC core set, and some other cheap ones later on in my first expansions.
