OP3

Character 15 of 50 for my new Marvel expansion set is someone I've been dying to write up since I started Third Edition:

Specials in my gallery.

justa

quite the unexpected surprise!
i haven't been keeping up on her, so i didn't realize her fighting had increase to 7.  it does make the AQ easier to swallow.

i think Radioactive Blood should have been coded FE, not ED.   ;D (oops)

Gwen begs the question(s):  will Julia Carpenter make it into your version eventually, and if so, as Spiderwoman or Arachne?

Well, I debated putting her at 6 for a long time, but eventually decided since Spidey's at 7 based mostly on his powers alone, she should be too.

D'oh!  Ya, that's a mistake.  Easy to forget to change the code when you're doing a bunch of Specials in a row.

Well, since I think "Arachne" is one of the worst superhero names ever (sounds uncomfortably close to "acne"), she will definitely be included as Spider-Woman.  Maybe in an Avengers-specific expansion.  But she is planned, being a Legacy character and all.  As long as I can find enough decent artwork for her anyway.

Been there, done that, too.

i was never bothered by the name, since it reminded me of the weaver from myth.  but i found her a refreshing change from Jessica at the time.  (and the TV exposure didn't hurt, either).

so remind me, because I'm a bit confused...since this character and another are both spider woman, can they both play spider woman specials?  or can the gwen one not play spider woman cards with jessica drew also on them, but she can play the spider strength special because it only says spider woman?

and can they both be on the same team?  if they can, do both have to be in game for gwen version to have spider strength in deck, or could it be in there regardless?

tons of questions I know!  really excited about what you're doing here....my hope is to print these off and play the game going forward with your cards, as I sold my original set...these seem much more fun and playable!

i will use the term "codename" instead of "character", so as to differentiate from "character cards".

if the special card lists a codename AND identity, then only the character card that matches both can play it.

if the special card lists a codename only, then any character card that matches that codename may play it.

if the special card lists an identity only, then any character card that matches that identity may play it.

with, of course, the usual OverPower disclaimer: ", unless something else allows differently."  i think most of the OverPower rules need that unstated disclaimer, because there are IAs, Specials, & Events that can change those rules in certain circumstances.

and yes, Spiderwoman: Gwen Stacy, Spiderwoman: Jessica Drew, and legacy Spiderwoman (Julia Carpenter) may play on the same team.  all 3 characters may use OP3's Spider Strength.

^ All of that is exactly right.
