Curious to know, how do you guys sort out your collection of OP?

The way that bamf! and I do it is:
Binders of complete sets.
Separate 800 ct box just for characters, might expand soon. - sorted by Character name
Numerous 1600 ct boxes for specials, I think we're at 4. - sorted by Character name, card code
At least one 1600 ct box for Power cards. - organized by value, then MEFSI
A 1600 ct box with Teamworks, Artifacts, Ally, Aspect, Homebases, Events (not full)

And miscellaneous boxes for Training, Basics, Doubleshots, Missions.

Palatinus

I have my Heroes sorted alphabetically with their specials sorted behind each hero with the specials sorted by code.  I have the rest of the cards sorted by class and type.  I have things like Teamwork cards sorted by EFSI with the bonuses using that as a hierarchy.  E-FS, E-FI, E-SI and so on.  Same thing for doubleshot cards.  This makes the most sense to me, but really as long as it is constant and I can find what I'm looking for it's fine.  All my cards are in a 5,000 card box and an additional 1000 card box.

I organize by set. My prime set in boxes, my nearly completed 2nd sets in binders.

Spare commons and uncommons in boxes. A box for spare rares and very rares which acts as my trading box.

Edit: Oh, and a big box for all power cards, universe and doubleshot etc.

you guys seem to have way more cards than me. Granted, I've limited myself to just X-men characters (and only the "good guys" at that), and Batman's crew, but still!

I sort my cards by publisher (DC and Marvel).

Then I sort by Character, alphabetically, with Specials behind each Character (also sorted alphabetically).

I sort Power cards first by type, then by value (1e, 2e, ... 7e, 8e, 1f, 2f, ... etc.)

I sort my Universe cards the same way, and I give a heirarchy the same as Palatinus, actually.

I sort the Tactic Doubleshots the with the same heirarchy as Teamwork cards.

then I have Artifacts behind those, sorted alphabetically, except the 4 grid altering cards, which I have at the very back (sorted by power type), since I use these the most.

I pretty much do the same thing except I don't sort the specials behind the characters by code.  I usually try to organize the specials to tell a 'story' based on the pictures.  :P  :D

Recently, I separated all the villains from the heroes because my friend and I began a good vs evil themed campaign for our games.  I came up with a minor story arch and a few rules to link the games together.

I love this idea! My brother and I have done similar things before. I built an AoA Magneto deck and he built an AoA Mr.Sinister deck. Then I built a Batcave deck and Ranerdar built an Arkham deck. Fun stuff!

By boxes are you guys talking about those long card-wide boxes, or just boxes in general? I was about to get some binders to organize, but the amount of total spares I have is very small so I won't need anything separate for spares. I'm mostly looking for ease of browsing, so what would you guys say is the best method in that respect?

Forgot to mention that I have a binder with a complete 1st edition (including Any Hero cards), that I don't play. You know, for posterity  :)

I also sort my cards this way.

For the purposes of separating my main collection from my extra duplicates, how many copies of each special do people keep, generally.  I was keeping six, but now I feel that is a bit much and I was thinking of cutting it down to four except ones that the character can keep duplicates of.

For Special cards, generally, I keep 2 or 3 of any particular card. I've given away pretty much all of my quadruplicates and lots of my triplicates.

For Power cards, I try to keep at least 8 of everything. For everything else, I try to keep as many as 3 of everything else.

I keep my Overpower Cards in binders with card album pages. I have four binders, one with X-Men related characters, a second with Avengers/FF related characters, a third with Spider-Man related characters and other remaining characters, and the fourth binder has all the non-Special cards (power, universe, locations, etc.)

For the character and special card binders, I organize them Heroes (along with their specials) in the beginning and Villains (also along with their specials) at the end. Both groups are in their own alphabetical order, and their specials further organized by their code alphabetically). For the 4th binder, I start with Power Cards (first by type, then by value), followed by all the Universe Cards (also by type and bonus), then Any-Hero Specials (alphabetized based on their card code), Location Cards, Aspect Cards, and finally Mission Cards.

I keep all my spare cards in a card-wide box for trading purposes.

Kal-el

I keep my sets in binders, and all of my duplicates in super shoe boxes. They are all sorted, more or less, according to the checklist by set.
