Next time you guys have to do some video a place it on youtube.  It would be cool to see some card play on video.  ;D

This is true, it's the 21st century now!

I don't have a video camera myself, though I've been thinking about picking one up for some time.  So I can spring for a camera if no one else has something available.

Great photos, I love seeing stuff like this! I am so jealous of your ability to get so many OP players in the same place at the same time. I look forward to seeing more photos of your meetups in the future, and any reports about games would be really interesting.

We are very fortunate indeed.

I didn't even think about taking down notes of the games to do a tournament report with.   :(
But I'll definitely try to at the next event!

Hopefully if we get 20+ people every 2ish months or whatever, we can make it worth the time/effort/money for out-of-towners to attend.

That's the hope, is that we can get a regular enough meetup/tournament going that even people who are too far out of Toronto to make it regularly might elect to make the hike once or twice a year. I got word of semi regular OP tournaments in Ohio, which is about an 8 hour trek from Toronto. I was thinking it might be fun to make a weekend out of something like that, assuming I could find out dates.

As for notes, that would have been a good idea. I am sure we can cobble together from what we know...

I was primarily using my Trick or Treat team of X-Babies, Ghost Rider, Morbius and Spider Woman, Krakoa as the battlesite. But I played a couple of games with my Avalon team as well - Prof. X, Cable, Bishop and Magneto.

HotRod, was using Heroes for Hire, X-babies, Hawkeye and The Reavers. Battlesite was the Sewers

HotRod's father, Mike, was using Heroes for Hire, Scorpion, Donald Pierce and I don't remember the 4th character. Battlesite was Morlock Tunnels.

ZippaHead was using an energy based team with Prof X, Dark Phoenix, and I don't remember his other two... my memory sucks. Help me out here HotRod...

John, another player from back in the old Days showed up. I loaned him a spare deck I'd built to experiment with. Spawn, Shang-Chi, Adam Warlock and Deathbird. He wasn't overly happy with the team itself (I believe his words were: "This deck sucks"  :P) but indicated that he'd had a good time nonetheless.

Jack was using Nick Fury, The Hand, The Starjammers and 3 stat Spider Woman. I don't remember his site.

ZippaHead's Brother was on hand, and even though I played him twice, I don't remember for the life of me what team he used.

If anyone else remembers more, feel free to post it. Jack's brother and Cousin were also there.

As for wins and losses, I couldn't tell you about others. I beat HotRod, but lost to his father. Lost to ZippaHead, but beat his brother both games I played. Played two games with Jack, once with Trick Or Treat (which lost.) and Once with Avalon (Which won).

Next meetup, I'll make a better effort to track the games.

The 4th hero in my dads deck was the Age of Apocolypse Colossus variant.  Colossus spent most of his time face down in that deck due to the crossing KO.   :P

ZippaHead's team was Holocaust, Professor X, Dark Phoenix, and Flash with Wundagore Mountain as a battlesite.

The deck you lent John did suck from what I saw during your game with him.   :P

Jack's battlesite was the Outback.

ZippaHead's brother was using a fighting deck with Captain America, and Sabertooth.  I don't remember the other 2, but I think they might have all been from the IQ set.

And yes, you did beat me, but that's only because you negated my draw 4 with your 3rd negate of the game!   :P

That, and I got maximum usage out of my inherent abilities! It's all about absorption, baby! But hey, if you feel that you lucked out, we'll just have to play again... ;)  Are you and your Dad available for a casual get together at any point before the next big meetup?

That deck I loaned John rocks, in my hands it's a tough one to beat. Of course, I know how it's built and such. He can't be expected to maximize the use of a team that was just handed to him. ;)

Jack

I used another deck: Captain America, Wonder Woman, Zealot and Spider-Woman (3 stat) with The Vault.

bamf (brother) used Beyonder, Mr. Fantastic, Deathbird and X-Babies.

My cousin used Heroes for Hire, Zealot, Juggernaut and someone else.

There will be video next time, hopefully we'll find someway to have it running throughout one of the matches. Video just wasn't practical enough with the camera we had.

ZippaHead's brother had Bishop and Kingpin in addition to Captain America and Sabretooth.

I am also jealous that you guys were able to get so many overpower players in the same place.

Every year, me and Onslaught try and invite as many overpower players to the San Diego Comic Con to play with us, but we usually only end up with 4 people, which is good for fun, but not enough to  construct an actual tournament. If anyone of the Canada Crew is planning to attend the San Diego Comic Con, please let us know and we will get together for some games, and if we get at least 8, set-up a mini-tournament with some prizes and such.

Anyone plan on attending SDCC 2011?

I'm suprised you guys only get 4 people at a mjaor convention in a state with roughly the same population as all of Canada.  Hopefully we can get this thing big enough so it's worth it for you guys to come up here for a weekend.  In the meantime you have my sympathy!

when is the SDCC? I live in northern california and I could conceivably attend, along with a few friends...
although if it was in SF it would be much easier as that's only a three hour drive for us.

Noble Kaz

San Diego Comic Con is July 21-24th this year. If you could attend and bring some buddies that would be awesome. I also live in San Francisco, and would be willing to let you guys carpool with me down there. However, you would have to take care of your own hotel, as my hotel already has enough people in it.

However, Wonder Con in San Francisco is April 1-3 this year, I do not normally attend, but i would be willing to probably go down there for a day and play some games with you guys.

Let me know what you think.

a_noble_kaz

Cool! lemme talk it over with our group and i'll get back to you about Wonder Con. SF is so close that we could easily do Wonder Con and SDCC!!
i'll get back to you when i have the details.

Sweet, sounds awesome. Out of the California people I would probably be the only one willing to meet your group at wonder-con (if you decide to go).

But i am thinking if your group came to the SDCC, as well as the other people on this board from california who are already planning on going to the SDCC we could easily have 8-12 people to run a mini-tournament there.

Look at the "California Roll-Call" post you made for a list of people i know on here that are from california and have shown interest in attending SDCC. let me know if i am forgetting anyone so we can get our numbers put together.
