I had 2 that I was constantly hoping for as a comic reader of the early to mid 90's....  The first being Spider-Man OP and the other being a 2099 themed set.

There were so many good Spidey characters that went unused.  Kraven, Lizard, Chameleon, Electro, Allistair Smythe, Sandman...  and you could have filled it out with some NYC based allies like Moon Knight, the Prowler and Luke Cage.

after Doc Doom 2099 came out in classic I was drooling over the chance to see a Spidey 2099 or Ravage or the X-Men....  maybe just a sub set like Mission Control.

Too bad.  One can always dream I guess.

I was always hoping for a Cosmic Overpower set, something that would introduce some of the more epic, super-powered characters, like Thanos, Mephisto, Death, Eternity, The Living Tribunal, ect, ect...

Also would have loved to see an Amalgam Comics set. Could use the Marvel Vs Dc as the mission set. Events could include Cosmic Sibling Rivaly and Cardboard Box. Characters could count as clones of their 'pure' counterparts. Dark Claw, Wolverine and Batman could not be on the same team, but give Dark Claw access to both pools of specials.  Super Solider mixes Captain America and Superman. The Hyena... Joker/Sabretooth. Good stuff.

Yeah, totally agree with you about Spider-Man OP. And I always missed a Avengers set, with so many classic villains, like Kang, Loki, Mr. Hyde, M.O.D.O.K. and Ultron.

Since I am a homemade addict, I am working in both sets. Hope to finish my Avengers set in a couple months.

I have put together a list of cards that I think would fit in with what Marvel wanted to acheve with The Marvels set. I'm no good at customs so I might have a ask around to see if any one wants to produce a full set of cards.

I'm also looking into compiling a complete set for Absolute Evil and a Spider-Man set too.

Image 2.  Image is quite possibly my favorite expansion and I would have loved a sequel.  Aside from the obvious exemption of Spartan, I think Image did a fantastic job of covering the essentials.  There are still quite a number of characters I would have liked to eventually see, though.

Also, a Marvel set with Shatterstar.  People were clamoring for him for years.  The most disappointing thing about Marvels was his absence.  Yes, I'm including the set not being released and the game getting discontinued in that complaint.  >:(

A full blown AoA expansion would have been pretty cool despite the AoA stuff we already got.  I suppose they could have reprinted some of the harder to find stuff in it.

I would have loved to see an AoA expansion set! That's by far and away my favorite X-Men story. I think it would've been great to (officially) get a Blink character/specials. Also, I agree, it would have been cool to have some other cough*xman*cough cards reprinted in the set. I would also have loved a variant hero card for all the X-men in AoA... dang, good point here Bullio...

X-Men AOA is really a great story! But Legion's quest into the past didn't change Marvel's main universe, just created an alternate reality. That being said, there shouldn't exist any AoA variants.

Why X-Man and Cable or Dark Beast and Beast are different characters and can be used in the same team if Colossus:AoA and Colossus are considered variants that can't be used together? Doesn't it seem an incoherence?

My opinion is that AoA is so rich in characters and backgrounds that it could make an entire expansion set. But not as variants, they should be alternate characters, just like Dark Beast or X-Man. There is just too many characters to explore, like Sabretooth, Nightcrawler, Forge and teams like the Human High Concil, the X-Calibre, Generation Next, etc.

There's actually a very good reason why those are separate characters and not variants. Dark Beast and X-Man escaped the AoA, the others did not. So, there have been comics where X-man & Cable are together (fighting eachother or others) and there have been comics where Dark Beast & Beast are together (again, fighting eachother or others). There have not been any comics with Colossus & Colossus:AoA together.

Also, X-World is an alternate reality that, manifestly, warranted it's own variant cards. So it seems to me, that a set of AoA variants would be like the X-World variants, in its justification and execution.
