Near Perfect Prints

I know throughout a few of the posts on here several of us have been talking about different ways to print out proxy cards that look good. I finally found a method that I really like. I broke down and picked up some Avery Sheet Labels (simply a full sheet of paper that is one big label to print on). I print several cards per page, cut out the white edges and stick them as straight as I can onto an overpower card. After I do this, I flip the card over and take a very sharp exacto knife and cut off the excess label. Make sure the blade is sharp, if it is not it may pull more than it cuts. Also keep in mind that it will not be 100% perfect, but it will look good.  Look at the enlarged corner of my Grifter proxy and you can see little bits of white from the cutting - very few of the cards did this, but some did so I wanted to bring this to light as a potential drawback if you want your cards 100% perfect. I have printed a handful of proxy and custom cards so far today and at least to me they look pretty darn good.

Just wanted to throw this method out there in case anyone was looking for different ways to make their customs and proxys.

yeah, the texture and print quality that these Avery sheets are outstanding. I only use the name-badge size sheets because it's quick and I'm not concerned with the outside edges. If I put the print onto a card from the same set, it's only the bottom right corner/sides that are too diff anyway. I'll post a pick of my results sometime

btw, what kind of printer do you have/use?

I use my work's really nice laser printer  ;) Sure I have to wait to print until most people are gone, but in my office I end up working late anyway so  win win  ;D

Those white edges don't look as rough as some of my cards do from a few years of playing without sleeves. Looks like you've had amazing results. From the photo, they look authentic.

Some look even better than others. Cards from the XMen set and character cards come out the best in the areas of coloring and shading (near perfect). Overall like ncann said Avery has great labels.

I've mentioned my print method in the past, and I finally got around to uploading some pics. Basically, I'm just using the name-tag sized labels from Avery. They're blank all around (no boarders or anything). I also use the more durable, slightly thicker kind. I found that the surface is a little nicer for printing (it's almost rubbery in texture, as opposed to papery) and it also shuffles better out of sleeves. The sizes being a little smaller means I had to do some guess-and-check to get the sizes right, and it also means it leaves a small edge around the card (which is actually kind of nice if you're shuffling without sleeves). While that little edge can be a bit of an eyesore, I found that it was significantly diminished if I simply put the prints on Specials from their same sets (as opposed to duplicate Power or Event cards, as I initially did). So, it still leaves the bottom/right edges as standing out and obviously mismatching, but when you're holding a hand of them, you don't really see those edges anyway, plus you can find some that have similar colors, so it's not so bad. Between the convenience of using the Avery Templet for these labels (downloaded from their site) and the comfort in shuffling, I've definitely settled on this method from now till eternity  :)

Also, in that DoW, you can see I edited the wording to conform to the new House Rule that BBH and Breadmaster were trying. Our group quickly adopted it, so I went ahead and made our prints of DoW so that the wording allows for up to 4 Activators to be played as a single attack  ;)

BTW - how do I minimize the Pics in my post?

Nice! Those look  pretty sweet. I can see why you go the quick route with them - they look great.

I just use the "attachments and other options" at the bottom of the postings. I use it because its easier than dealing with linking and html.
