Could Black Cat's BA special 'Kiss of Death' be defended by a tactic: doulbeshot if the power card contribution came from a female character?

Could that card be shifted by a male character to a female character and then defended? It was my understanding that a shift is not technically defending an attack.

As I understand it a defense is anything that aids in nullifying an attack. Shifting it wouldn't work unless a female is the one shifting it, and a double shot can't be used because the initial requirement to play is being filled by a male hero.

Does negating it count as defending it?

That one's easy according to the wiki and meta rule 58.  A negate does count as a defense so this particular BA special could only be defensively negated by a female character.

This is also why I don't think a character on your team can play a negate to defend a battlesite. The rules clearly state only 2 ways a battlesite can be defended. (Power cards and specials from the battlesite itself.)

Correct on both counts. It should be noted, though, that Team characters are considered neuter, so they can defend Kiss of Death.

Like any of the Enforcers wouldn't succumb to Black Cat.   :P
