Nova

First, let me start out by saying that this was one of the more difficult characters I've made, not because of anything about the cards, or the coding, but particularly the art.  For some characters, I find it difficult to find good shots of a character from the comics where they're at the right spot on the page, and the resolution is correct, etc.  If anyone wants to google image search "Nova Cover Art" there is so much art out there to choose from.  The abilities and card codes are finished, but I can honestly say the art and card names are probably not..

With that being said, Nova (as well as the next character in the pipeline - who's a villain...can you guess?) was designed to give some more flexibility in the reserve spot.  The down-side to this card is that when he gets to the front, he's not much more help than he was in the back - as a max six with no real way to protect himself, I'm not sure how great he'd do on the front line or in the power pack, but he'd work well in a deck that could move quick and keep itself alive.  Although he's a point more expensive than hawkeye, at 18 points, I still consider anything less than 19 to be econimical.

As always - please provide any feedback you may have, and let me know what you guys think.

Very good cards.  (For reserve capability, also see the Black Knight cards on justabigkid's emporium.  Bios has a cheaper character for Black Knight.)
For Inspiring Bravery, I think I would have made it a Fighting attack.  I think Energy attacks would be expected of Nova, while taking on Thanos (at 23+) with a Fighting attack (at 18) would certainly Inspire his team to greater heights.
Love the additions to the game.  OP LIVES!!

Very Nice!  defense AND attack  from reserve!  WANT!  being greedy, if his AD included himself he'd live longer on frontline (like Invisible woman or Spawn)!

Love what I see here.

Just a thought: would an AE special that's a Level 4 Strength (combine with 1 Energy card for a single attack) be worth considering? I don't want to imply there should be MORE overlap with Shadowcat, but

1. That kind of attack being playable from reserve after you land his MT special seems really strong. Like, probably better than Hawkeye strong (to me). Plus, it screams Nova. I mean, he has strength from his access to the Nova Force, but he backs it up with Energy.

2. You could totally call it Xanadarian Power Matrix. Which is just a sweet name for a card.

That aside, I really like what I'm seeing. You give a nice set of reserve abilities, but the combo with the HQ and the FE (that one is particularly sweet if you already landed MT) is what makes Nova really look like a strong consideration for reserve to me.

That was my thought exactly.  I went with the teammate-only version because I didn't want Nova to be played from the front line - his role is very specifically a supporting role, and I sort of like that...maybe I'm crazy and this card would never get played over hawkeye or dr. strange - I'm not sure.

That's a great idea.  I went E-E-E for his specials because I have a tendency to make the specials splash too many colors, so I specifically tried to stay away from that.  Truthfully, and I know this is gonna sound kind of silly, I was grounded to the energy attack over the fighting attack because overpower already has an Intellect, Strength, and 2 fighting FE's - (Dazzler has a 6E FE that is OPD).  Definitely something to think about, though.

Wow!  I didn't even realize that!  6-6-3-3 and 6-3-3-6, now nova at 6-3-6-3!  Hundreds of years from now someone will find the remains of these characters and think there was some kind of DaVinci code-style conspiracy...and the HQ and the defend from reserve (kind of)...To be quite honest, I had spider woman in mind while I was putting this together, but that's a good call.

Xandarian power matrix, the Worldmind, The Nova Corps, Nova Prime, Student of the Watchers, The Living Rocket...honestly, there is a 10-card set that you could make for Nova, all with fantastic art to back it up, too!  The reason why I cut the AE is because (1) a follow-up in strength would be too powerful.  Typically, you don't see an AE follow-up over 5 on the base grid, with a few exceptions.  iron man 3-stat, hulk: mr fix-it, thor 4-grid [his AE came out on his 3-grid stats], the list goes on - but for the most part you're seeing a 4 or 5, so I think an E+S would be a bit broken and (2) I wanted to keep big solo attacks away from Nova, to make the 12E really mean something - he's primarily a helper.

I knowwwwwwwww!  *drool* MT + HX + HQ + FE would be awesome!  It took everything i had not to give Nova an HH (Quiver of Arrows) playable from reserve....The problem would be getting the MT to hit, but I'd love to see what someone could do with this card in a deck.

Open question to anyone reading/commenting: Who would you pair this with?  What would your tournament legal Nova Deck look like?

Nova HX plus Spawn's AD can block 10 attack?  Using it defensively gets it in play without being negated.

all i can suggest is maybe switching the MT special New Warrior from 4E to 4S, a little bit of variety for special attacks :)
