There's an open discussion going on the Facebook page about it but I'd figure it would be beneficial to post it here too.

I was able to determine what fonts that Marvel/Fleer used when creating the cards. These are probably not the exact fonts but close enough.

It looks like the Futura ND Bold Oblique is used for the newer cards, the older cards use something else. I'll find it eventually.

And it looks like Future Bold Oblique is used for the Specials' text from the first few sets.

Did some quick hunting for some fonts tonight; Myriad Pro or something in the family is what they used for the ENERGY/FIGHTING/STRENGTH/INTELLECT font on characters.

Any idea what font is used on the Double Shot cards, which reads:

"MUST COMBINE WITH ENERGY POWER CARD LEVEL 1 THOUGH 4 FOR A SINGLE ATTACK OR DEFENSE."

Would be good to find out, since keen on making my own Double Shots.

Good Deal! I knew you had found the fonts but I never thought to ask specifically what they were but now that I've seen this I'm feeling pretty good about some customs.
Beta Ray Bill makes a WHOLE lot more sense at Avengers Mansion than Beyonder showing up and helping out during a fight. - breadmaster

Guys, did a little more research for fonts:

The font for the character names is Frutiger Pro 95. You will need to manually condense the letters to match, but is definitely the closest match that I've found yet.

Hopefully this will help the custom card making group.

The font used for TACTIC in the bottom left corner is pretty close to Shortwave Gothic Medium, but the letter A is not EXACTLY the same.

great thread, and glad to have the info...now just wish the fonts didnt cost so much!!  :(

Found more fonts.

One Per Deck and the 2 letter code is part of the Swiss 721 family (Black Condensed and Light Condensed)
The name of the special is Optima Bold or somewhere in that family. It can also be Zurich Bold Extended if it's from the first few sets.

Does anyone have some E/F/S/I icon templates and cool border templates posted or that they can post?  It would be a HUGE help!

Jack

I'll post up the icons I used for the Marvels set when the Downloads section of the website is revamped. Hopefully that should be by Thursday night.

Sweeet, thanks Jack.  Do you what font was used for the special card and character names for the Absolute Evil set on the justabgkid emporium?

Jack

Those aren't mine so I have no idea.

Bios, what font did you use for the card text in your Avengers Assemble set?

Is there a thread that gives a step by step how to make a homemade OP card, and the program we could use to make them?  I used Paint Shop Pro for all of mine, and while they turned out okay, I used my own fonts and such... I never could make them look like regular OP cards, but they did look nice and official.  I even gave my specials for some newer characters a blue border instead of yellow... trying something new.  But I would love to learn how to make homemades as pretty as The Marvels.

The best program to use is Photoshop.  Listed on this thread is the names of a lot of the fonts you would want and what part of the card they are used for.  A lot of people don't use all the "official" fonts for everything (myself included)
The best step by step I can give is to:
1. Get Photoshop
2. Use it to make a card border template
3. Pick the fonts you would like to use for each piece of the card
4. Get the E/F/S/I and any power icon templates (hardest part)
5. Find pics you would like to use for your cards.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I'm def not an expert, you know.
